  1. Hawk isnt really my favorite either...thank god he doesnt do Yankee games any more.
  2. after the game I was watching NESN Extra Innings, and during the whole clubhouse celebration i was specifically looking for Mike Stanton. Im interested how he has been recieved on the team or if he has just pretty much been excluded from everything.
  3. wow I was not aware of this, interesting. I though he would go with Chacon. Maybe he wants to save Chacon in case he needs him to relieve Moose in game 1 and then have him come back on 3 days rest for game 4. Who knows.
  4. Thats a good point about Colon, we have pretty much rocked him this year. And also agreed that we need to keep Figgins at bay.
  5. I think Byrd is better than Small, I agree tha Lackey is better RIGHT NOW, but i cant ever not depend on Moose. He hasnt always been great in big spots (2003 he lost every 1st game and Pettitte had to clean up the mes in the second game) but he's too good a pither to discount. I give the edge to Chacon for now because Washburn hasnt exactly been himself this season (note: i do not have numbers in front of me), i've only seen 2 of Santana's starts so I cant really make a very good comparrison, but from what I have seen he does have electric stuff (as we all know) but i wouldnt be too quick to rate him over Wang. But we'll see. I wonder if Santana even starts in the postseason, and if he does I wonder who they sit out of the rotation (as we all know postseason rotations are cut from 4 to 5).
  6. you know what I mean man, im trying to go off on the motivational run here lol
  7. yea but you cant blame Joe either for injuries....we did a hell of a job withstanding all of the roadblocks. But regardless, we both agree that it goes to Wedge. Good Luck in the postseason!
  8. This is the postseason now, whole new ballgame, their inability to score runs all year is no longer relevant.
  9. I agree, it will/should most likely be Wang, Small hasnt been lights out lately. Neither has Wang, but I have a conforting feeling with Wang on the mound.
  10. LA's starting is pretty much equivalent to ours (ace followed by several quality arms). Their bullpen is hands down better than ours (Donnely, Shields, Franky, and their middle relief is greater than ours as well, though we cannot forget that we have the great equalizer Mariano Rivera : ). They have a very good lineup, but ours is without question better. The thing with them is that they are the best all around team in the playoffs (IMO). they have a bunch of hard-nosed gritty players in their lineup. Guys who can run, play defense, hit for average, hit for contact, hit for power (some who can do all of those things), they have spectacular pitching, and they have been the toughest team against the Yankees in the last 10 years. This is not a series I am looking forward to, though it will be nice to get some revenge for 2002. We gotta Grind it!
  11. manager of the year has got to be Eric Wedge or Ken Macha, hands down one of those two. (IMO at least) what hapened to the Red Sox? The same thing that happened to the Yankees, injuries and disappointments. But now we're both in the postseason and what happened during the regular season has no relevence, the best team over the next few weeks takes the crown.
  12. Everyone's saying its gonna be Girardi. It will be nice to see him get a managerial spot, though I was kind of hoping it would be with us.
  13. Im kind of hoping for a round 3 as well, but we have to worry about the Angels first.
  14. thanks a lot YS....from now on lets only post on this matter in the new thread.
  15. that thread is like 2304938493 pages....its gonna take me a while
  16. hey Stocker, just a suggestion but how about you take all of the posts concerning this subject and move them to a new thread called "On The DL" (the name of the site, or something close to it) in the fights and crap section...just so we dont drag this along in the NY Papers thread.
  17. wow this sounds like a must hear ....summoning Soxie.
  18. yea he looks like somebody that would hook up with 16 year old girls. Some of the pics on this site are pretty interesting, Manny looks hilarious in that pic of him in the Vick jersey.
  19. just because somebody doesnt use steroids THIS YEAR doesnt mean they've never used them at all. Ortiz has sucked in years passed. Again, not trying to accuse Ortiz.
  20. there is no doubt in my mind that the one with the headline "Drunk Daddy" is Pedro. The whole "whose your daddy" thing from last year plus they said hes a pitcher. I could be wrong but I dont think so.
  21. speaking of the New York papers, did anybody read that spot today in the Daily News about the online blog called "The DL". Its run by college-aged girls who meet players (most of whom are married) in nightclubs and stuff and then they post all of this on the blog. they dont post names to avoid legal issues but sometimes you can gather who it is. Also they post some pictures too. http://itsasecretsohush.blogspot.com Just in Case anybody was interested.
  22. some teams carry 3 catchers, is that an option for the Sox? They could have Shoppach catch a few here and there and maybe teach him some other positions in spring training so that he could maybe spell some guys in the outfield a day here and there or maybe play 1B once in a while. Or they can keep him in AAA next year and then bring him up the following year which would be Mirabelli's option year. Just a thought.
  23. I wouldnt say it's been a great year considering we were supposed to clinch about a month ago. It just goes to show why the regular season is important. Before the season everybody said the Yankees were a shoo-in for the World Series, but we almost missed the playoffs. This has been a fun, stressful, exciting year that put a lot in perspective for many Yankee fans. We've had it easy in recent years and this year has humbled us for the most part (even more than 2000), and I think it was a vital experience for any true Yankee fan. Lets just hope we can cap it off with the ultimate prize, our 27th World Championship in Franchise History!
  24. lol it's all good. ----------------------------- BTW, in case you didnt know, it IS official, Wright goes tomorrow and Moose goes Tuesday against the Angels/Guardians to open the ALDS.
  25. see my following post. thats kind of surprising considering Dugue's postseason/big game success. You would think Guillen would factor that into his thinking despite how bad he's been lately. If I was Oz I would take him over Mccarthy.
