  1. Why is it that Gardner would be fine in this lineup, but Melky wouldn't have been? It's f***ing ********...I'm still heated. Even if he wasn't gonna start Melky is a better 4th OF option than Gardner. NASTY!!! The only thing I would do is flip-flop Johnson and Cane so that Johnson has more fo a chance to get driven in by Cano, Swisher, and Granderson. But either way that lineup is scary.
  2. I don't like it! I don't like trading Melky, I don't like trading Dunn for Boone f***ing Logan, and I don't like trading Vizcaino. Vazquez better pitch good this year otherwise I'm gunning for Cashman's head. I hope Melky is an All Star this year as well. This is f***ing ********. if we could have kept Dunn and Boone out of it I might like it more, but as of now I feel like Atlanta raped us. This is what Cashman was up all night doing? You've got to f***ing be kidding me! Didn't we try the Javy Vazquez thing once before? All I have to say is he better redeem himself, for real. I keep having images of Damon hitting that grand slam off him in game 7, and it's not a pretty sight.
  3. Now that we have Vazquez, Joel Sherman is reporting that the Yanks will look to trade either Mitre or Gaudin. That's a good idea, see what we could get for one of them. I don't want both of those bums running around either.
  4. Of course I would give him the benefit of the doubt if he were on my team, I just don't want that to happen. It's glutinous. We can't just keep doing this every year. We need to start building teams, not buying them with the likes of Matt Holliday (yeah I said it!). But with that being said we do have a need that he would address, but I would be so much happier if it were just a 3 or 4 year deal rather than 5 or 6. I would just prefer to bring Damon back at this point.
  5. Mike Dunn, Melky Cabrera, and 18 year old Arodys Vizcaino for Javier Vazquez and Boone Logan. I like bringing back Vazquez, but I HATE the package we sent in return. Obviously I'm very disappointed to be losing Melky, who I've made no secret about him being my favorite player. Mike Dunn was supposed to be in our pen this year, and V18 year old righty Arodys Vizcaino. Man...I don't like. I hope Vazquez does well, because I'll be PISSED if he doesn't. So right now, as we've solidified our rotation, we need to get a left fielder and a lefty for the pen. Matt Capps? As for left field, I hope they bring Damon back. I'll be DISGUSTED if they dig in their pockets for Holliday. If the Yankees sign Holliday I won't go to a single game this year (after opening day, of course). I feel like this trade created more problems than it fixed, but if Vazquez pitches well the reward could be great. But we need some of our hitters to step up now, not that losing Melky is a huge blow to the lineup, but he, along with Damon and Matsui last year were 3 of our most clutch hitters. Somebody's got to replicate the clutch this year.
  6. Well looks like this debate is moot now that Viz has been traded. Damn!
  7. Yeah definitely. But we still need to see who the prospect is. Probably find out tomorrow.
  8. Blue Jays and Mariners have agreed on a deal to send Brandon Morrow to the Jays for Brandon League and a prospect.
  9. I'd pass on Wandy. And please god not Lowe. But by all indications from the various reports out tonight the deal they're currently discussing isn't a salary dump, so it probably isn't Lowe. I'm pretty curious though. If the Yankees CAN'T acquire a good starter via trade, rather than overpay for someone on the free agent market (unless they can get Sheets at a reasonable price) I would take a flier on Hisanori Takahashi, the Yomiuri veteran lefty who declared in November that he would like to come to the majors now that he's a free agent. We've heard almost NOTHING about him so he might be had for next to nothing. He's had a successful career in Japan, and was a big part of the Giants championship this year going 10-6 with a 2.94 ERA in 25 games (missed some time recovering from an injury) and has a career 3.70 ERA. Like I said I wouldn't commit big dollars to him, and wouldn't count on him to solidify a spot in the rotation, but if he can be had for pennies I would bring him to camp. He could be a second lefty in the rotation or a long/middle man out of the pen, or even start the year in Scranton and see how he progresses. As long as we're not giving him even a fraction of what Kei Igawa got. ....just an idea though, hopefully it's not necessary and there's something to these trade talks.
  10. He may not be the catcher of the future, but I can see Cervelli sticking here for a while. You can never have enough depth, especially on the mound and behind the plate. If all 3 catchers pan out in 3-4 years you could have Romine starting, Cervelli backing up, and Montero DHing/emergency catching. Sounds pretty nasty to me. If Romine doesn't work out keeping Cervelli is that much more important as we would need a good defensive catcher to backup Montero. Either way, I think the 3-headed catching monster we have is a great thing.
  11. Which reminds me, Gom how many seats do you have this year? What's good for opening day? Hook it up for me
  12. You're cool? :dunno: (btw, I'll take the bleacher seat over the 50" anytime) You two would probably fight it out to the death if you had the chance, wouldn't you?
  13. Yeah really. Gom, Molina is definitely better defensively, but he's not a difference maker or anything.
  14. Wow, should I feel honored? lol I'm sure
  15. Why's is gotta be Melky? :dunno: Why can't it be Gardner? I think Melky has more value than Gardner. The only thing Gardner has a real edge on him is speed, and maybe a very slight edge in defense. I'll pass on JerPap. You think the Cubs have interest in Gardner? There has been reported interest in both of them, though I don't know what the Cubs preference would be, if any. I agree. Cervellis is an above average to very good defensive catcher. Jose Molina is a GREAT defensive catcher. Considered by some to have been the best defensive catcher in the AL, and considered by many others to be one of. I don't think the dropoff is too dramatic between the two. Cervelli has shown that he can handle the ball back there () Losing Molina really isn't going to hurt us. And if you're gonna refer to Burnett's success with Molina, that's too bad for Burnett. He gets payed enough money that he should make it work with whoever is behind the plate. If he can't pitch well with either Posada or Cervelli, he shouldn't be pitching.
  16. Fair point. What made you decide to consider Thome as a DH. I had a hard time debating with myself whether I should consider him a first baseman or a DH for the decade. WOW Good for you! and I hope somebody takes you serious
  17. I'm not going to expect it, but it's DEFINITELY not out of the question.
  18. LHSP: Randy Johnson (Johan Santana) RHSP: Roy Halladay (Pedro Martinez) RP: Mariano Rivera (Trevor Hoffman) C: Joe Mauer (Jorge Posada, with Pudge close behind) 1B: Albert Pujols (Ryan Howard) 2B: Jeff Kent (Chase Utley) 3B: Chipper Jones (A-Rod, with Scott Rolen close behind) SS: Derek Jeter (Jimmy Rollins, with A-Rod close behind) LF: Barry Bonds (Manny Ramirez) CF: Torii Hunter (Carlos Beltran) RF: Ichiro (Vlad Guerrero) DH: David Ortiz (Jim Thome, with Edgar Martinez close behind)
  19. Who? I respect your opinion, but there's nobody that I can think of that we have who has the versatility that Hinske has. I agree that we have other needs, and I wouldn't mind the signing of either Duscherer or Capps, but idk how comfortable I am with the bench we have. I think either Hairston or Hinske should be brought back. Both did well last year here, and I'm honestly not sure how comfortable I am trusting Gardner, Russo/Pena, and Hoffman/Miranda filling out the bench behind Cervelli. That's all I'm saying. It's not a huge concern, but the depth should be addressed.
  20. The Cubs and M's swapped bad contracts tonight with the Cubs acquiring Carlos Silva, who makes $25m over the next 2 years for the headcase Milton Bradley, who makes $21m over the next 2 years. The Mariners also sent $9m to the Cubs in this deal, which I don't really get, but if Bradley can avoid being a distraction he may be able to help this greatly improved Seattle team.
  21. IF the price is reasonable, Sheets would be a great signing.
