  1. You thing Schilling lurks here on talksox?? Well if so.... ....Curt, f*** YOU. You ruined my life on two occasions, back in 2001 and in 2004. I want you to know that I hate you. Actually, what I feel for you is more than hate. I f***ing loathe and despise you. I hope you f***ing never win another game in your entire life. I would have loved you had the trade with the Yankees prior to 2004 went down, as I remember us being one of the teams you stated you wanted to go to, but you didnt. So f*** YOU! And good luck trying to shut up 50,000 Yankee fans because you will never succeed no matter what, we all f***ing hate you. I swear to god, go retire or something. Go host a radio show up in Beantown or some s***, but whatever you do SHUT THE f*** UP and stop being such a drama queen. OK, glad I got that one out of the way...sorry to interrupt guys, proceed. I dont think he'll get like Bernie in CF because frankly I think we move him to one of the corners next year after Sheffields contract expires to make room for Melky in Center or one of the big Free Agents. (I would prefer Melky, or one of the Free Agents on a 1 year deal)
  2. Na man it was definately a standing o, and well deserved And the reason he got it is because he meant a lot to our franchise for a couple years there. I love Boomer, and always will despite some of the things he did (Blwoing up in game 5, going to the Sox, selling out his teammates in the book, etc.) because the good things he did were so great. Pitching outstanding relief in game 7 of the ALCS (despite the homer to Ortiz I believe it was), the perfect game, the Yankee Pride, the love for the fans (speaking of that, I remember earlier in the year there was a thread about him ripping yankee fans for booing him, I believe it was in one of the Boston papers. Does anyone have a link to the article or thread, cant seem to find it), etc.
  3. Merry Christmas to you too!!
  4. Well according to Johnny, the yankees deal wasnt the top offer...but we all know thats ********! Yea...I agree, I was mad at my fellow Yankee fans who booed Jeet and Mo. Cant be perfect all the time ...since some of you guys were talking about David Wells, I can say that seeing Wells in that uniform was enough to bring a tear to the eye, and yes, I did have some not-so-nice things to say about him after he signed. But fact of the matter is I still love Boomer for all he has done for us and what he brought to the Yankees. Just as long as he is going to hold a grudge against yankee fans and wear that uniform *which I guess wont be for too much longer) it will be hard to applaud him.
  5. Yo man, RELAX, I misread your post, I didnt notice the word WIFE in your post. I appologize and hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. And nobody is disputing Boston's dedication to the Sox compared to New York's to the Yankees. Reasons for that though could include that Boston is a lot smaller than New York, New York has 2 Major League teams, and the tri-state area has 2 basketball teams, 2 football teams, and 3 hockey tea,s. Also there is a lot more going on in New York than in Boston. And yes, you are right about how the responses would vary depending on the cities. You dont have to tell me about how things are in New York, im from here too buddy. And trust me, Nobody said that they didnt believe you, I get everything you're saying, ive spent a weekend in Boston before.
  6. I would imagine they did IDK man, NY is huge and of coarse we have millions and millions of people, but i think it is highly unlikely that Damon will be able to walk the street unnoticed. Unless he goes into a poetry coffee shop in upper manhatten or something with a bunch of intellectual poets he is not going unnoticed What if he cured Cancer or AIDS??
  7. I didnt say that he did take steroids, all I said is that it is possible, it is not out of the realm of possibility. Considering that Canseco mentioned his curisity in his book there is a possiblity. How come the Yankee fans are always the dumb one's?? Thats not very nice. How come the Red Sox fans arent the dumb ones??
  8. I can understand your feeling about Damon, and Happy Holidays to you too!!
  9. That was a very enjoyable read...except for the enthusiasm towards the end
  10. Andy leaving was a blow not only to the team talent-wise but to the face of the team and the representation of the team. Pettitte left not because he wanted to play closer to home (thats the reason he went to Houston, not the reason he left the Yankees) but because he felt the Yankees didnt do him justice and persue him hard enough. Instead we were spending all of our time going after Sheffield. If George really wanted him back he would have been back. And im disappointed at the way he was treated by George. For whatever reason George did not like Andy at all. According to Buster Olney in his book Torre had to on numerous occasions talk george out of trading Andy. After Andy hurt his elbow in 2004 it looked like a good deciscion by the Yankees, but im sure that regardless George is regretting it. One thing I can say about Andy and his loyalty to the Yankees (he still always has the best things to say about the Yanks) is that I admire him for turning down Boston, who from what I remember hearing back then had blown every other offer out of the water. He said he "couldnt do that to the Yankee fans."
  11. I dont understand that either. I would think that Beckett would get one. Reason is probably that they didnt want to commit to giving him a jersey number just yet, as having a press conference would require giving him a jersey (with a number on the back) and I guess they havent decided if he will get 21 or not.
  12. nothign huge, but Mike Stanton re-signs with Washington, where he was traded from to Boston like 3 day sbefore the season ended.
  13. Might be. In his book Canseco said that Tejada was always curious about steroids and then of coarse Palmeiro saying that Miggy gave him the B12 or whatever it was. BUt who knows.
  14. I feel your pain man!! Thats how I felt when Ron Villone didnt get a press conference aired on YES.
  15. Something I was thinking about as well. But I hope that doesnt stop the Cubs from persuing him, i would LOVE to have this guy out of the division, although im not too crazy about inviting Mark Prior to the party that we call the AL East.
  16. you're absolutely right about Babe Ruth. Rupurt f'd that one up. But the Yankees organization since then has on many occasions recognized they were wrong in doing so and Ruth and the organization reconciled before Ruth died. But way to go bringing up something that happened back in 1935. And when did i say that there was a conspiracy to get Williams and Yaz out??
  17. You might need to use some more monsylabic words for me ...******* You must be stupid if you think Nomar wanted out. Nomar wouldnt have left, at least not before everything played out the way it did with the whole A-Rod situation. Fact of the matter is im sure that the Sox fans going bananas over the possible trade for A-Rod and just throwing Nomar to the curb had to have effected him somewhat emotionally, he's human of coarse. That, plus the treatment he was getting from the organization led to him wanting to leave town. Nomar should have just pulled a Teddy Ballgame and spit in the face of the Sox fans who he had served as a player for so long who wanted him out. At least Roger took a stand and didnt hide his feelings towards management after he was given the boot.
  18. Just some pics.. http://img422.imageshack.us/img422/4773/bellhornbn9tk.jpg http://img422.imageshack.us/img422/5509/rickeyhendersonbn2zi.jpg http://img422.imageshack.us/img422/8002/boggsbn4pk.jpg http://img422.imageshack.us/img422/2577/ruthbn6ye.jpg http://img422.imageshack.us/img422/9053/embreebn5jv.jpg http://img422.imageshack.us/img422/3491/clemensbn1bb.jpg http://img422.imageshack.us/img422/3704/wellsnb4pi.jpg ^^That hurts to see....Boomer in that uniform is enough to bring a tear to the eye
  19. good points
  20. yes, A-Rod was a big deal and whatnot, but still, considering what Nomar has meant to the Sox I think he deserved better treatment. I dont care if I have a chance to get Honus Wagner, Derek Jeter is not going anywhere, and IMO thats how the Sox and their fans should have felt about Nomar.
  21. I think they could have maybe got more from Boston.
  22. Do you know how many Red Sox fans ive heard say they were happy when Nomar got traded because they were getting Cabrera and Mientkiewicz? Its ridiculous. And making a huge deal about getting A-Rod over the winter to replace Nomar probably didnt make him feel too good, because we all know Red Sox Nation was NUTS about that happening. That is mainly what I was reffering to.
  23. haha I just made a post regarding this in the Yankees Offseason thread lol...didnt realize this thread existed Yea, he's definately not too bright lol Whatever though, im not going to make fun of him, maybe its a condition he has or something lol
  24. Im watching it too...anyone besides me notice that Damon might not be the brightest guy out there....he did a lot of stuttering, didnt clearly answer questions, etc.. Also, talk about modesty....NOT!! (idk, cockiness is a turnoff for me, I guess because I am a very modest person, whatever though, not a big deal.)
