  1. Good...I couldnt stand her.
  2. A very good friend of mine who also happens to be a latino asked me the same question about a year ago. I wouldnt be in favor of it. I wasnt in favor of Robinsons number being retired, and im not in favor of Ruth's. Retired numbers should be determined by the team retiring them based on the players contributions to that team. Clemente's number is retired in Pittsburgh, isnt that enough? RedRuffing, yes, there is a Roberto Clemente day. I dont know if its annual (because I dont remember one this past year) but I remember one in the recent past.
  3. Um...probably not. because if Wood and Prior at at full health they take 1-2 right there. Zambrano 3, Maddux 4 (or reversed) and then Miller 5. No way hes 3 in that rotation. but those are all BIG ifs. Good move though, Thats a move I think the Mets should have made, but good signing by the Cubs. Now just keep him out of the bars and clubs and away from the 16 year old girls.
  4. IDK, i think if he stayed distant they would have seriously tried to get him back. As much as I dont like the Red Sox its got to feel good to have all of this come together..finally.
  5. i think everyone will fall in love with Coco in Boston. but seriously though, before the Sox won the world series everyone predicted that when they finally did the fans would cherish it and love all of the players and all of that stuff, but it hasnt been quite like that
  6. Thanks I just dont understand why there has been no mention of him re-signing and why he is still listed as a free agent on some sites. But ok.
  7. right, but that wasnt my point. Damon contributed a huge amount to the red Sox in 03-04 with his personality and performance. He helped transform that clubhouse into a fraternity and prodiced a LOT. Lets not forget Game 7 in 04, if he doesnt hit that Grand Slam whos to say the Sox still win that game. The Yankees might have stepped it up more rather than just laying down because they wouldnt feel like they were out of it.
  8. Absolutely true. But what about right field? granted, his arm would be horrible there, but its so big that it's ideal for an older center fielder who can cover ground.
  9. Off-topic, but didnt think it constituted a new thread. What happened with Petagine? He is listed on the RedSox.com 40 man roster, but I looked back through the transactionjs and didnt see any mention of him re-signing. Also, mlb4u.com has him listed as a free agent.
  10. Without Damon do you think you guys win a World Series?
  11. I agree with you, but nowhere is it etched in stone that you have to be a power hitter to play Left field or have a great arm to play right field. But dont get me wrong, I agree with you. But last time I cheched, Damon was a pretty good hitter, just not on the power side. So he could essentially play left.
  12. They offered him $11 mil a year. They could have matched the Yankees offer and made enough in revenue and income this year to pay his entire salary. Its not like theyre a small market team short on money. If it wasnt for his contributions they might not be as profitable. He helped them, so they should at least try to show more interest than they did.
  13. Im probably too late, but if not, im in
  14. Damon: "I wanted to retire there" ...Its really sad, but I can understand his feelings, they acted as if they didnt want him
  15. lmao Sad, but true.
  16. He should start the year at AAA. Thats what the Braves were planning on doing I believe.
  17. lol very true. If I was a Braves fan I would be PISSED with that deal. Not a very smart move by Johnnie-boy IMO, but I understand they needed a shortstop. Should have gotten more though.
  18. You are all absolutely right. Looking at Clemens' 93-96 stats, they arent pretty. But if it was me, I would have tried to hold on to him.
  19. me too. Kind of surprising
  20. They better be. He will be huge for us. I just dont understand why we only got him on a 1 year, we should have at least gotten an option. All true. Good post
  21. idk man, i'll take Dotel over Tavarez any day. Granted, Dotel wasnt much to write home about in Oakland, but he was secodn to none (imo) when he was setting up Wagner. Ever since moving into the closer role for Houston, and then Oakland he has slowed down. Moving back into a setup role for Mo and the Yankees should be good for him.
  22. Varitek = Posada Youk Lorretta = Cano Lowell Gonzalez Manny > Matsui Crisp Nixon Ortiz > Bernie Snow > Andy Phillips Cora > Escalona (I doubt Escalona makes it because I think we still ad someone else, but as of now he fills the role) Harris Flaherty = Stinnett (I like Flaherty's glove and Stinnett's bat, equal) Schilling Becket > Mussina Wells > Wang (Assuming Wels is there, I think he still gets traded though) Wakefield = Chacon (Both were up and down last year, ill give it an equal for now) Clement = Pavano Foulke Timlin > Farnsworth Arroyo > Sturtze/Small Tavarez DiNardo Seanez > Villone Papelbon > Wright Obviously moves need to be made, pitchers need to be traded as both teams have a surplus, and the rosters are not final, but this is how I view it, assuming the Crisp and Gonzalez deals are done. Red Sox: 10 Yankees: 10
  23. Um...Kaz Matsui is a natural Shortstop, having Loretta means nothing.
  24. Im not too thrilled with it, but im not too disappointed either. Glad that you get Marte out and glad that you weaken the bullpen, but not glad with the Crispy addition.
