  1. lol, thats right
  2. I agree. I wasnt too impressed with Benson's up and down performances in the NL, cant expect him to be any better in the powerful AL East.
  3. I like Duquette...he let Clemens walk allowing him to come to us two years later ..but seriously, all very good points Jay
  4. Updated!! :damon:
  5. Agreed, I like Maine, so its not too bad a deal, I just wish we had some more insurance.
  6. http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/8909/annabenson0jf.jpg http://www.annabenson.net/gallery.htm ...despite that fact that she is annoying as hell, I am going to miss that!
  7. And for us fans
  8. Agreed. But I also think its good to get Benson out of here. I wish we hadnt traded Seo so that he and Heilman could compete for the number 5 spot, but it looks like that will be going to Heilman, because his current competition doesnt seem to be too threatening. Iriki doesnt project to be much of a pitcher in the bigs, so I dont forsee him beating out Heilman. But this also weakens our setup role, I would rather have Heilman over Julio. Julio can throw hard but has absolutely no control. Oh well, good move in the fact that it redcues salary (something the Mets have been subtly doing all offseason with the departures of Cameron for Nady and Seo to the Dodgers, who soon will make a nice little check via arbitration, etc.). Hopefully Omar can pull off something for Zito come July if Oakland is out of it (I dont see beane trading him now).
  9. i like that idea.
  10. Newsday is reporting that the Kris Benson for Jorge Julio deal that was talked about in early December is "likely", but with another prospect being included from the Baltimore side. http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/ny-spmets0121,0,2428445.story?coll=ny-sports-headlines
  11. Thats pretty much why he was signed, insurance. Because he is a good insurance policy wit his versatility, but not deserving enough to be on the 25 Man.
  12. Trent Durrington couldnt hang on with the Brewers. I doubt he will be making the Red Sox, unless he has a very good spring training and someone projected to be on the opening day roster gets hurt in spring training.
  13. I agree. I think h eneeds to get out of Cincinnatti and back into the AL where he can play the OF, DH a little, and all that stuff. Hes not that old and can still produce. Thats why I was somewhat in favor of us (Yankees) getting him last year at the trade deadline. Only turnoff is his contract and his contract length. Ive always been a big fan of Griffey and I hope he can turn it around.
  14. Very good news for the Classic.
  15. I agree ..im not even gonna get into this topic, my feelings are too strong
  16. he would have stayed
  17. I sure hope not
  18. Its been diappointing though, a lot of Sox fans arent happy with this offseason.
  19. lol my friend said the same thing yesterday...except he said for Japan or China and I countered with South Africa
  20. thats why I stick with the Yankee avatars with the black border lol
  21. I agree, but IDK if Boston would have wanted to use a 40 Man spot on him. I too am surprised he got picked up by San Diego
  22. Not a bad player, good gritty kid who also provides some versatility. This was a shock to me considering all of the rumors about him going to the Rockies this offseason. I just hope this isnt what you guys planned on to fill your CF/Leadoff role Good signing in my opinion
  23. I have a feeling thats what it will be like, only rather than demoting Cherington back to his old title, just call him and Hoyer Co-Assistant GM's and let him basically handle the farm (as planned for this year anyway). I just dont see Theo being there not as the GM, because either way he will be calling the shotso n the moves and everything, and if his title is not GM, then you basically have two GM's who arent really GMs. I like Theo a lot, and it has been a good day for the Red Sox. I am happy for you guys considering how bad its been so far.
  24. made updates everybody, been a few days, sorry
  25. that would get pretty annoying. ...but the thread starter's idea wasnt horrible I dont think, like just for fun. But I agree with everyone else that if you're around long enough you know who is who.
