  1. yea..im fine with bernie too, but we obviously need a 3rd player capable of catching, and he would have been perfect. Usually in a 3rd catcher, you need someone who is capable of playing other positions as well, (Craig Wilson, Robby Hammock, Eli Marrero, etc) but Piazza would have been someone I would have made an exception for (Yes, I know he can play 1st too, but that doesnt really count lol, we have a million first basemen)
  2. Oh please man...im not even gonna g on from here, not gonna start another 10 page Yankees/Red Sox arguement. REeason I said it is because he fits perfectly. He can spend time DHing with Bernie/Giambi. When hes not DHing hes the lethal bat we're lacking off the bench, he is the emergency catcher, which is necessary if Joe plans on having Posada DH from time to time, hes proven in NY, just everything. I think he would have been a very good fit.
  3. Ive heard of this kid before, supposed to be good. But I wouldnt call him a slam dunk yet, hes only 17, still has a long way to go. Same should be said for all of the young guys the Sox have signed recently, none of which have played any professional ball.
  4. I doubt it...Piazza HATED the 1B experiment here in NY. Good signing by the Pads. I'll be rooting for them yet again in the NL West for a 3rd consecutive year, and having guys like Piazza makes it a lot funner to root for them. I just REALLY wish the Yankees would have gotten him
  5. Sorry its been so long. Im having problems with rotoworld, who I get most of info from. Rotoworld goes EXTREMELY slow for me over the last week or 2. Pages dont load, pages take forever to load, etc. So hopefully I ge better luck soon and can update the list
  6. probably. Ive noticed that as well
  7. Good post. Both sides got what they needed.
  8. Marte has never played well in the Majors? Well lets address that one ...Hes played 24 games. I dont think its very fair to base that on 24 games. According to all the scouts, experts, etc he is supposed to be very good. Im sure not all of them are wrong.
  9. Thats what i'm hearing too! Glad to finalkly get this one done. Now I will enjoy not having to face Marte, and get eaten alive by Marte, for 19 games a year for the next 20 years haha.
  10. Thats exactly how I feel....what the hell happened? lol
  11. Source (just for reference purposes for my list)?
  12. I like Mohr...wouldnt have nminded the Yanks picking him up. Sox made a lot of signings there...I was only aware of like 6 of those.
  13. Havent I been saying the EXACT same thing for going on like 6 months now??
  14. And after the Giants, and before the Yankees he was on the Phillies. Traded by the Giants to the Phillies for Rickey Ledee in 2004, then prior to the 2005 season he was traded to the Yanks for Kenny Lofton.
  15. I like Loretta...definate upgrade. Good player
  16. Yea, word was that Beane was exploring signing Thomas, then after the dates came and passed and it was a guarantee that he would not be back in Chicago I figured it was pretty much done. But with how quiet that has been lately, I wasnt too sure.
  17. Hey man, you have no room to talk about chokes. The ratio of Red Sox chokes compared to Yankees chokes is ridiculous. You act like, that because you won a World Series more recently than we have, that you're top dog when it comes to winning. Red Sox fans, and many Red Sox fans at that, completely disregard the fact that they have choked countless times, and then they have the balls to criticize the Yankees for their chokes. If you could even call 2001 a choke, that was a hell of a series after being shut down in the first 2 games, winning the next 3 in dramatic, New York style fashion. A hell of a series and a hell of a game 7 that resulted in Mo making a bad throw that happened to cost us the series. What Mo had done for us in previous years at that point certainly made up for the bad throw in 2001. Get over yourselves.
  18. I have to 4th that one (only because I know him better and his annoyance level is that of a f***ing mailbox compared to you new guys)
  19. Right, I agree that Delmon Young is a very good prospect, possibly better than Marte. But I dont see how you can make those statements aboutthe Upton family. B.J who has been tabbed the Shortstop of the future for the Devil Rays for going on 10 years now will hit his 6-year Free Agency period before taking over full time (I hope not, I do like B.J., plays hard. Hopefully gets a real shot this year) and Justin has never played a professional ballgame in his life.
  20. You guys are all Roger Haters!! lol
  21. I think you meant already lol jp with ya ...You guys not getting Crisp is fine with me..but you guys getting Crisp is also fine with me (Im not really looking forward to getting eaten alive by Andy Marte for 20 years)...just get something DONE! lol
  22. Na, there was racism towards Hispanics. Darker-Skinned hispanics werent allowed to play, they were forced to play in the negro leagues.
  23. I think the Sox should just trade Mota for Michaels, like Cleveland was going to do. Granted, Crisp is better, but your holding onto the best prospect in baseball, and really not losing anything (If Mota failing Cleveland's physical is true...which I guess it is). He wont be in the Red SOx outfield for years to come, but a good guy to have there until Jacoby is ready.
  24. Little slow there, schil? j/p with ya Buster's the man!! I agree that it would be good for the Sox. Kearns is a pretty good, young player. Though not as good as Crisp, he could get the job done. But if thats the case, like 700hitter said, Boston still needs to go out and find a leadoff man. Good question. I was thinking that same thing. It doesnt make sense to get Gonzalez, but hey..I wont be complaining
  25. right, thats what im saying. If he stayed distant from the club, rather than still being involved, he would have all the leverage, because im sure there are plenty of teams out there who would love to have Theo Epstein.
