  1. OFFENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Nationals might think Vidro is a better DEFENSIVE 2B, which I, and everyone agrees with. But you dont seem to understand that I said Soriano was the best all around OFFENSIVE second baseman. (Meaning he can hit for power, contact, steal bases, etc.).
  2. hahah lmao
  3. cool Been a while since we picked someone up
  4. Hello, Alex Rodriguez is BETTER, so of coarse we are going to make that trade. DOesnt take away from who Soriano is and how good he is. I mean, Nomar Garciaparra was a marquee player and you guys were willing to dumop him in favor of A-Rod, same with Manny. So your statement doesnt really hold here. (But I agree with everyone else here, he is overrated in some aspects. But I also think you guys give him a bad wrap. He is the best all around offensive Second Baseman in the game, and his defense has improved somewhat since going to Texas.)
  5. I mean, I understand it. Standard Little League is for 12 year old kids, and I can certainly understand a 12 year old Red Sox fan not wanting to play for a team called the Yankees. I think it's cool what the Spinners are doing and all, but I dont think it was their place. But hey, like someone said earlier it's a great marketing ploy for the club, and there's no denying that.
  6. I agree. I would have HATED playing for the Red Sox when I played little league (I actually played for the Mets )
  7. http://sports.espn.go.com/minorlbb/news/story?id=2325915 Looks like the Lowell Spinners, Class A (Short Season, NY Penn League) affiliate of the Sox are trying to get all NEw England youth baseball leagues to get rid of teams called the Yankees. They are offering to pay for the new uniforms of youth leagues (That have a team named the Yankees) who change their Yankees' team name to the Spinners.
  8. Thank You I also feel that the stats/park thing was ridiculous.
  9. And its not like he got what he asked for. $10 Mil is what Washington offered. He LOST his case but still set a record.
  10. He's a marquee player. He will make that kind of money.
  11. And then if the Astros go and get Contreras like there has been talk of lately (unlikely though). That would be pretty impressive.
  12. I was really hoping it would come to this. Had my doubts though, with the arbitration approaching it looked more and more unlikely they would come to terms. Good stuff.
  13. After this year they need to switch the Classic to November, following the World Series. Makes much more sense.
  14. First ML game was Mets vs Cards (I used to love Ozzie Smith). FIrst Yankee game was vs the Mariners. In fact like 30 minutes before gametime Randy Johnson jumped out of a cab on River Avenue...I guess he was running late.
  15. Somebody get rid of this guy.
  16. This sounds like a really cool idea. I wish they still did non-baseball things at Yankee Stadium. They used to have footbal, boxing, concerts, etc. Last non-baseball thing at the big ballpark in the bronx was the prayer service a few days after September 11.
  17. It wasnt an arbitration ruling. When Houston offered him arbitration, during the numbers exchange Clemens requested $22 Million and I think the Astros offered somewhere in the $5-$8 Mil range. Knowing that they would obviously lose their arbitration hearing to the Cy Young winner they chose to negotiate rather than go to arbitration (VERY Common as you all know) and they came up with $18. But after 2004 Clemens made it clear that if he played a second year in Houston that there woule be no hometown discount (Those were his words). However, the year prior, where he made like $5 Mil, that was a hometown duscount. So to answer your question hometown discounts dont cost $18 mil.
  18. I have watched a bit of old Clemens games. Old games in general I guess. But fair enough, differnece in opinion is fine.
  19. I coulda sworn it was $44 for 4 oh well.
  20. You're right, that is my mistake putting that one on the list. Obviously not one of the best. but like I also said I didnt put a lot of analysis into that list..threw it together real quick. Had I thought about it i'm sure I wouldnt have thrown it in there. but like Keep The Faith said, do you really want a guy with a bad finger out there? I wouldnt. ..also, I love how you didnt have anything to say aboutthe other games I posted. So much for you're theory that he has never won a big game. And I hope I answered your question : I'm not saying you're wrong, but I find it hard to believe that you remember all of that from a game played months ago. But no excuse for that game, just a bad one I suppose. But what about the NLDS in relief? You always ut my hero down, but you never give him kudos when he deserves it. I post a list of big games and you just ignore it except for the blunder I made on the list. At least I have NO PROBLEM giving the Red Sox credit when they deserve it, and those that have been here for a long time with me know that.
  21. Wonder why the Tigers were so quick to dump him? um...A) He was going to be a free agent and they knew he wouldnt be coming back. They wanted to get something in return (Colon) for him rather than let him walk for nothing. C) Dump his salary (whatever it was last year) in favor of a 300k salary. Those are the reasons. Now I am not saying that everything you said isnt true, but let's be serious, the Tigers probably would have been happy to keep him.
  22. A-Go has been on FIRE since this series started. Hopefully he cools down with the next few weeks off.
  23. Trust me man, there is no question Roger's last few years with Boston could be described as him being a "f***ing gutless coward"...and I dont blame you. I would be pissed too with gettin ejected in the second inning of an elimination game, and some of the other stuff he pulled. IDK what was wrong with him then, but I think it is very fair to say that he is a lot different now, and has been for years.
  24. I would really love to see this video. Yes he is. And yes, I would root for the Sox every 5 days. Well actually, i'd root for Roger, after he comes out of a game with alead i'd pray for the RSN-proclaimed AMAZING bullpen to blow it They dont do that in baseball, 1 day contracts and whatnot. 1986 ALCS Game 7 vs California 1986 Game 6 vs the Mets (Obviously didnt win, but pitched very good) 1999 ALDS vs the Rangers (7 shutout innings, 3 H) 1999 World Series vs Atlanta 2000 ALCS vs Seattle 2001 World Series Game 3 vs Arizona (7IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 9 K) 2001 World Series Game 7 vs Arizona (didnt win but pitched spectacular) 2005 NLDS vs Atlanta...in RELIEF! Obviously not all of them ,just off the top of my head quickly.
  25. Did somebody really need that pointed out?
