  1. Yeah, what a day that was. He pitched really good too, but thankfully for us Trever Hoffman pulled a '98 and blew it for him. Kenny Lofton and Hideki Matsui, baby. Back to back with 2 out in the 9th. Like we said, Wells got his welcome back in 2004 with San Diego. Had he returned to Yankee Stadium for the first time in a Boston uniform, he probably would have gotten cheered, but because he had already returned and got cheered twice ('99 with Toronto, '04 with San Diego) we booed him. David Cone came back his first time in a Boston uniform and got cheered.
  2. Coney blew in 2000 and needed a job. You guys gave it to him. I wasnt too mad at him, although it hurt to see him in red socks that year. Thank god it was a 1 (year) and done thing. Boom on the other hand is still around up there. It sucks. I love Wells, and signing in Boston did piss me off. But I never booed him (I did get pretty frustrated during his press conference though, throwing stuff and whatnot), and felt it was wrong when others did, although I understood why they did. Also, not to take away from the fact that Boomer is a big part of recent Yankees history and definately a fan favorite when he was here, I wouldnt exactly call him significant. He was here for one championship. And we would have won in '98 without him. Definately wouldnt call him significant.
  3. a lot of posts the last week or so would give you guys that distinction.
  4. Good to take 2/3 after that loss on Friday. Like I said in yesterdays thread, didnt wanna go into Boston dropping 2 of 3 to Toronto.
  5. I'll drink to that! *Takes the bowl with the leftover milk from my bowl of Golden Crisp and takes a sip*
  6. I can officially get excited now and declare war on Red Sox Nation for the season. These next two games are going to be great.
  7. I seriously cant believe a thread was started over some post an idiot made over at the YES boards.
  8. Oh please. No Boston Red Sox fan has any right to say anything like that based on how much attention NESN and guys like Tom Caron pay to the Yankees. The Yankees get about as much coverage on NESN as the Red Sox, its ridiculous. ..and I personally think Justice does a pretty good job.
  9. I banged his wife. Twice.

    Draft

Dont mean to change the topic but just wanted to get this out there. I think D'Brickashaw was a good pick, but as a big Leinart fan I feel horible for him that he fell to 10. This guy would have probably went #1 last year, but now he gets stuck going 10. I will definately be pulling for him and the Cards. Woulda been nice to see him in Green and White. Whatever though.
  11. we gotta grab the W today. I dont wanna drop 2 of 3 to the Jays going into Boston. Not good.
  12. Nobody directly said it. But you guys make him out to be the next coming or something.
  13. I've actually heard this before as well, but was skeptical. For Hazel, I cant wait to hear it. And for the ballgirl, I would love to know whos slamming her. s***, next time I go up to Boston i'm gonna bang her myself. I think she might be a little old for Wade Miller. He likes young meat.
  14. I'm not gonna say much. However I find it pretty ironic that jsinger is talking about it being early still, however thats never the case when the Yankees are on the other side, getting slammed by the Yankees. ..also, I love the fact that the amaing, flawless, unbeatable Josh Beckett got roughed up tonight. Maybe you guys will take his penis out of your mouths a little bit now. Sure would be nice.
  15. IDK if I have anybody you want, but feel free to make an offer.
  16. Thats because they are/were. Everybody was taking greenies and whatnot, which are now illegal in baseball and tested for. The way I see this whole steroid thing is this. It's not fair to villify these guys who have taken steroids because so many players have done so. I mean, I dont even think they contribute much to performance. f***, Wally Joyner took steroids. There were hundreds of Minor Leaguers suspended last year for using steroids, a dozen or so this year as well. Guys like Tony Saunders, Wilson Alvarez (two guys Canseco ratted out in his book) werent/arent great players, by any stretch of the imagination. To me, what steroids does is makes guys look big and add a little strength. I however know that it takes much more than strength to hit a baseball and drive it. A lot of these superstar players who have been accused or admitted using steroids would have hit those home runs anyway. Not as many of course, but most of them. Now for my theory on motivation for taking steroids. Simple. To get an edge. I dont look at these guys who took steroids and think of them as bad guys/cheaters. I mean, we've all cheated at some point in our lives to get something done. For us High School age kids, you cant deny that you havent copied a friend's homework 5 minutes before class. Maybe some of you guys out there told a little white lie on your resume or something. Should we treat you guys the way the Giambi's, Bonds, and Canseco's of the world are treated? I mean, I dont blame any of them for taking steroids. Like Mike Schmidt said, I would have taken them too if I was in their position. Its comparable to getitng snowtires in the winter or something. Just something to help you out and give you an advantage. Studying really hard for a huge test or something. Same s***. Now dont get me wrong, i'm not promoting or condoning the use of it. I'm just saying I understand it and everything. Obviously, because it is illegal , it is wrong. And that's why so many people are making a big deal out of it. If it was legal nbody would care. PLayers dump a lot of legal s*** in their body that enhance their performance, but we dont hear about it because their legal. Are they cheaters? Their not doing it naturally either. The way I see it, the past 10-15 years or so was the steroid era. Cool, great, fine. Thats always gonna be and nothing we can do is going to change it. Its like the deadball era, the cookie-cutter/tacky era, etc. Baseball is moving on from it, taking the right steps with the drug testing policy and everything. Lets just take it from there. Lets move into a new era of baseball.
  17. Edit: Double Post
  18. Of coarse lets leave it to Bobby Jr. to start this thread up again. (For those of you who werent here last season, there was a huge billion pae long thread on this because all the Sox fans were pissed Giambi was hitting well again.)
  19. Where were you when all the stuff about Sheffield taking the "Cream" come from?
  20. But lets not forget Wells injury played a role in his "shellings." He just came off the DL, give him a few starts first. Trust me, as all of us, Sox and Yanks fans in common, we know Wells is a damn good pitcher when he's healthy.
  21. Yeah, but nobody knows if he will come up and be an excellent 5th starter.
  22. Riv, all of your points have been DEAD-ON. Most of these guys dont understand what you mean and are taking your points the wrong way, as attacks towards the Red Sox, but all very good points.
  23. I guess thats some more incentive. I'll have to be Extra encouraged to update it daily from now on.
  24. Yeah, but its early and Bernie is a good hitter, we all know that.
  25. You're right. He'd wear #21. And yeah, he left for two years to be with his family, but consideing hes waiting until June/July to sign, I can definately see him in either NY or Boston. Ahh, I see. I misunderstood your post. But I dont think many Yankee fans will be whining if the Sox get Rog'. I know I will, because he's one of my idols. But a lot of Yankee fans dont hold him in as high a regard as I do. Dont get me wrong, there will definately be whining from the Yankee side, but not as much as when Johnny signed here, for example. He has young children. Elementary school age. I dont know how many, but he has some. And yes, he got payed a boatload last year, but look at the year before. What was it, like $5 mil or something in that neighborhood?
