  1. Oh god. Another ridiculous post by Bobby Jr. How's it going down there in Baltimore?
  2. yeah, what's with the 5 inning limit? I understand not wanting to overwork him at a young age, but if you never allow him to go deep he'll never be able to in the future. I think under these no-hit circumstances, at least, they should have let him go deeper. In other news, when Mussina went on the DL the Yanks called Bruney up. Another move I dont understand. As I believed it, a player had to spend 10 days in the minors after being sent down. Bruney was sent down over the weekend and is back on the roster already. This, along with being able to option players such as Aaron Guiel, who have more than 3 years service time, just has be absolutely confused regarding a transaction/roster move system that I thought I had a pretty good understanding of. Please, if anyone can explain any of this to me I would greatly appreciate it.
  3. pretty much
  4. Wow, what a dreary attitude among Red Sox Nation. Surprising. I almost feel some sympathy for you guys. Honestly though, stop acting as if you guys are completely out of the race. there is a lot of ball to be played.
  5. Are you guys seriously giving up on this season? Come on. It's sickening. Most of the time, if I were to see behaivor like this I would laugh and enjoy it, but I really feel sorry for you guys right now. I never thought I would see the fans of the team that came back and won a series after being down 3-0 give up on a season. Trading Wells (If he were to make it through waivers, which I doubt) would be a mistake. I, as a Yankee fan, know better than anybody that if you guys want to make a comeback this year that Wells is essential.
  6. Thank you for being so gracious.
  7. Why is this discussion taking place? Jonathon Papelbon WILL be the closer next year. How many times do Theo and Francona have to say it? Seems everybody here is either naive or skeptical. I remember when I started my Papelbon's Future thread nobody thought that it would be a good idea to keep Papelbon in the closer's role long-term. The organization may disagree.
  8. Wow, is this the mood of Red Sox Nation 5 and 1/2 games out?
  9. He's living in Georgia.
  10. I believe we signed him in July.
  11. yeah, I know. I just branched off into the future thing. Either way, I dont think it's fair to call him a bad pitcher. We've seen that he has the ability to be a great pitcher, and he was for a period of time. I would call him a struggling pitcher rather than call him a bad pitcher.
  12. I definately wouldn't call him a bad pitcher. He's just young. How many great pitchers struggled at a young age? Tons. RJ, Beckett, Pedro, among tons of others. The first few months of a players major league career don't dictate what kind of player he will be throughout.
  13. yeah, when it comes to Scooter your arguement makes perfect sense, but a PA anouncer really isn't a big deal. I doubt there are any people in line aspiring to be the PA anouncer of the Yankees. And last time I checked, being a PA anouncer doesn't exactly provide you with a day in the sun, or any notoriaty for that matter (unless you are Bob Shephard, of course. But those are different circumstances). And selfish is the last thing I would call a college professor for 50-some years.
  14. Speaking of Sidney Ponson, he has been designated for assignment this morning. Also, Brian Bruney was optioned back to Columbus (Still trying to figure out why he was here to begin with. Not a knock on him, but we had guys like DeSalvo and Karstens already on the 40 man roster who we could have brought up instead of Bruney. Both of those guys can give you more innings, as well.). To take their places, Aaron Guiel and JEff Karstens were called up. I still want to know how Guiel, who has more than 3 years service time, was optioned down back in July. I'm f***ing baffled. Anyways, when I heard this morning of the roster moves I meant to come on and post them, but didn't get around to it. BTW, Last night's game 2 was completely unenjoyable to watch from the 4th inning on
  15. yeah, you're right. I guess I just resorted to that because of lack of anything better to say. you tell me.
  16. Yeah, they had to have it cleared for the construction company. I agree. Not saying it was interesting. Probably was a bore to read. Honestly, if someone else had posted it, and I was the reader I probably wouldnt have even read it. But when it's late at night and I have nothing to do but wait for my laundry to dry I tend to just write pretty much nothing in the form of blogs, posts, etc.
  17. Honestly, for some reason, I buy Brown's story. As odd as it sounds, I can definately see some prick neighbor throwing stuff onto his yard, and then when he throws it back getting mad. The neighbor probably saw the gun, and decided to use it to his advantage. Who knows though. Funny stuff.
  18. Honestly, I am somewhat disappointed to be losing him. I wish he was given more of a shot in our organization. Whatever though, it happens. Good luck to him.
  19. It's a great deal and nobody can deny that; however, I'm not too afraid of Hinske. We'll see how this works out.
  20. Good for him. I am guilty of over-hyping him as he is one of my favorite Yankee prospects, so this makes me particularily happy
  21. And then you woke up. And even if you were crazy enough to attempt such a thing, I doubt you're tall enough to get it over the fencesd they had up. Well going there was pretty much a waste of time. They had huge fences up surrounding the site that wouldn't even allow the public to see it. Appearantly if you weren't a member of the press or a politician/related to a politician, or one of those Bronx kids they brought in to help promote how the stadium would add to the developmental improvements of the Bronx you pretty mnuch weren't getting in. I stood outside the fences on the sidewalk for a portion of the time with a bunch of other people (more protesters than I would have expected) and spent the rest of the ceremony inside one of the Yankee-based stores near the site (it was on like 165th. I never noticed this particular store before until that day) and watched it on TV. As people were coming out from behind the fences after the ceremony I noticed that everyone who was allowed in was given a commerotive hat. I was kinda bummed and even tried to buy one off of a guy. After hanging around the site for a few minutes I went to the press gate of the existing Stadium hoping to see people going in and coming out. Also, since the player/personell parking lot is right across from the press gate I would get to see people going to their cars too. I saw Lonn Trost (COO) and Randy Levine (President) going into the Stadium, John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman walking out of the stadium going to their cars, Michael Kay walking to his car from the groundbreaking site, and Yogi Berra get into his car. After about 45 minutes cops put the barriers up, like they do before every home game, and forced me and the rest of the people back (about 50 feet or so). After 15 minutes of seeing nobody I just decided to go see if Stan's on River Ave had opened up yet, went in and bought, on a whim, a 1996 Milwaukee Brewers yearbook (only $5, couldn't resist lol). After that, not wanting to leave yet, I decided to go back to the press gate, finding that even more barriers were put up for some reason (an unusual amount. I have never seen this many), so I decided to just relax and sit on the base of the infamous "bat" waiting for the official team store to open. After they opened I went in and to my surprise saw the commerative hats that all of the people who saw the groundbreaking were given. The hat, along with a T-Shirt were on sale in the store for $25 each so I picked them up. Tickets for that night's game were sold out (to my surprise) so I left. Most people would be disappointed with the day, but I wasn't feeling too bad. Despite the fact that I didn't actually see the historic groundbreaking, I was present for it, which is pretty cool. In addition to that I got to spend a bunch of money at one of my favorite places in the world. I realize that mnost of you probably could care less about my day, but I just thought I would share anyway lol.
  22. Your opinions on the broadcasters, although I disagree with them, are valid. When it comes to Bob Shephard though, that's a little ridiculous. Maybe being a Yankee hater sort of blinds you from this, but the nostalgic feeling that people get when hearing Bob Shephard anounce a player's name is extraordinary. Why does he need to be replaced? It's not like he has any direct impact on the team. Speaking of making fun of people, I was just making fun of good ol' El Guapo. How's fatty doing?
  23. I really dont mean to cramp your thread guys, but I just wanted to acknowledge something that was said. Us Yankee fans have taken a lot of s*** about the Royals sweeping us last year. I won't do any taunting because this isn't the place or time, but I hope you all feel ridiculously stupid after that. As for us being in first place, we've had to hear that s*** from you guys all year about us being in second place. We had to deal with it, and so will you guys. However, I will wait until we wrap it up and clinch before I taunt you guys regarding the division standings that way if we don't pull it off I won't look dumb like you guys have made yourselves look in the past week. Sorry guys, just been waiting to get that off my chest.
  24. No. Back in the late 90's George was strongly sondiering the West Side (as well as Jersey), but after those plans fell through these plans were developed. Much better IMO.
