  1. We are loaded with decent outfield talent for the future: Coco Crisp Willy Mo Pena Adam Stern David Murphy Jacoby Ellsbury Luis Soto Brandon Moss (he may still come out of his struggles) ...however, I'm not sure how the Red Sox will function when it comes time for these guys to make a stab at the majors. Right now David Murphy (24), Dustin Pedroia, and Adam Stern are the most ML ready. We obviously don't have a spot for a couple of those so I would look for them to be traded.
  2. The last game Bowden pitched: W, 5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
  3. I agree that Pauley has earned the right to play more games. However, you get the feeling the front office is giving all these kids a shot at the big leagues to get there feet wet. So far we have had Alvarez, Delcarmen, Van Buren, and Pauley make a stab in the majors this season. Craig Hansen was just called up and Jon Lester will get a chance to start. As the season progresses the Red Sox will probably make a choice of who should stay with the team. David Pauley has made a name for himself and I think is under great consideration to contribute again this year.
  4. I said the same thing after the Toronto game. It looks like the same delivery. This is not a bad thing and they like his makeup. He did a great job of handling himself against two excellent hitting teams. I can only imagine how D-Lowe would have done at 22 against the Yanks and Blue Jays.
  5. Thats mostly just because of his first game which you can throw out. He improved dramatically his 2nd time around and I think thats more what you can expect from Pauley. He threw strikes and showed much better command of his curve. That being said he could certainly benefit from more time in the minors.
  6. Roger Clemens overload!!!! That Lexington game got more coverage than half the MLB teams. Jeff Brantley even discussed how he pitched, what he pitched, and how everyone in the stadium got free windshield washer fluid by Clemens getting 6 K
  7. That is pretty much the case. Anything past the 2nd round has there work cut out for them. There could be a couple guys who show up and show something like this Laporta guy but....not likely. I do have a lot of faith in Theo and his scouts though. Since taking over the team our drafting has been excellent. It won't be too long before we start seeing some of these guys come through...trades or on the major league roster.
  8. Agreed....all Mike Lowell does is hit the damn ball.....why the hell is he not hitting behind Manny...my lineup: 1. Kevin Youkilis 2. Mark Loretta 3. David Ortiz 4. Manny Ramirez 5. Mike Lowell 6. Trot Nixon / Willy Mo Pena 7. Jason Varitek 8. Coco Crisp 9. Alex Gonzalez
  9. I'm not so sure that Hansen will just be another one of the young arms that comes up. So far we have had Ginter, DiNardo, Alvarez, Delcarmen, Van Buren....I think Hansen sticks around on the big league club. It will be real interesting to see if he is successful because that could open options. I'm still not someone real interested in Papelbon going to the rotation (not because I don't think he can do it) but its something the Red Sox can look into if needed.
  10. I'm not sure if it has been mentioned but the Red Sox sent down Jermaine Van Buren and called up Craig Hansen.
  11. I guess I've now come to the realization the Yanks will win the division no matter who is on there team.....f*** it
  12. This Red Sox team is starting to really suck....too many people are not playing well
  13. I heard he isn't that far off from Andrew Miller. The two of them were supposed to fight each other for the top spot. Clearly he has the stuff to be the top pitcher in the draft....if we can get his consistancy to come around and help him develop another couple pitches....he could be fantastic.
  14. did we just get Daniel Bard???? holy crap!!!!
  15. Hilarious picture. Those are the most rediculous commercials.
  16. top Mets prospect
  17. Apparently Matt Clement left but it wasn't injury related.....did he just quit?
  18. Hopefully by August...our pitching will be in order...this is what I would like to see: 1. Curt Schilling 2. Josh Beckett 3. Tim Wakefield 4. David Wells 5. Jon Lester CL: Jonathan Papelbon SU: Mike Timlin SU: David Riske MR: Keith Foulke MR: Manny Delcarmen MR: Rudy Seanez LR: Jermaine Van Buren ....Seanez is pitching well now but he is streaky...he has a great month then falls apart. Ride him while he is hot. Tavarez is just a jerk and I never liked the signing because I never liked the man. In the end I think David Riske is a guy to bring in with a lead. Cleveland used him in that situation and I think he can do that for us. Keith Foulke is the same as Seanez to me where you never know who will show up...pick your spots carefully. I would also suggest having Craig Hansen ready to go sometime in August incase one of those players screws up or goes into a slump.
  19. The Red Sox need to do a better job of evaluating the pitchers on the team. Leave the damn ball in Delcarmen's hand. He has been getting outs...let him get out of his own jam.
  20. Don't we usually suck against rookies
  21. Agreed...I just tend to value pitchers a little more. Always nice to grab a talented (5 tool?) position player but when it comes to free agency its easier to find those guys as opposed to top pitching talent. Deffinitly agree though....take the best player available.
  22. His hasn't given up a run for quite a while. Relievers are like this though....between Tavarez, Seanez, Riske, and Foulke we will see them hot and cold throughout the season. Basically you just want to hope they get a crap game out of the way when it doesnt matter.
  23. It will actually be the battle of the groundballs. David Pauley will pitch against Wang. Whoever has the better control will win that game....quite possible neither one pitches well and its the battle of the bullpens. As long as Pauley can hold his own just long enough for the offense to make a run the Red Sox always have a chance to win.
  24. I want pitchers in this draft...and lots of them.
  25. Thats really cool....good find. I'd much rather send Lester out against Texas than the NY Yankees. How about David Pauley...he has to come directly to the majors from AA and make a start in Toronto and a game at Yankee stadium. I'm really hoping the kid can get to 5 innings this time around but I doubt it. The Yanks will know about his pitching style now....unless his control with the curveball comes around I think it will be a 1-2 inning game for him.
