  1. I hate Jason Giambi and Gary Sheffield for there steroid use. I don't care for A-Rod because of his "me-first" attitude. I'm sick of Mariano Rivera always crying on the mound when a team scores a run against him (relax Mo we all know you are good). I'm tired of seeing Randy Johnson always looking in at the umpire when he doesn't give him a strike on every pitch. I hate seeing Robinson Cano on top of the All-Star voting for 2nd base. I hate seeing Johnny Damon on top of the All-Star voting for CF (has anyone seen Vernon Wells play this year?) So its safe to say I hate the Yankees
  2. as I was saying.....everyone in the Braves bullpen is fired
  3. I love it....Alex Cora getting in on the action.... Everyone in the Braves bullpen is fired.
  4. Terry Francona is a f***ing idiot. I don't think this is the first time its happened....Manny Delcarmen gets through two batters...someone gets a hit and he gets pulled. LET HIM FINISH THE INNING
  5. I just won $50 by calling Ryan Zimmerman's walkoff homer
  6. Ok good we are on the same page now. I suppose you can ask (no harm in that). My point was the price for Jason Schmidt will not be Jon Lester and Craig Hansen. I don't think a team in baseball would be desperate enough to make a move like that. Sure you can start there but the negotiating to an appropriate deal is important. The Florida Marlins can do it....the Tampa Bay Devil Rays cannot. The Marlins have done this before where they work with teams to get a good deal in place while the Devil Rays continue to push teams over the edge. This is a big reason the Marlins are able to get competitve over the course of several seasons and the reason the Devil Rays continue to suck. I would expect the Giants to be more realistic based on the teams age, concern with Schmidt's age and health, and the fact he is a free agent this offseason.
  7. Normally I don't listen to mlbtraderumors.com but this one makes a little bit of sense. The LA Angels will have a fair amount of starting pitchers when Bartolo Colon comes back and Ervin Santana could be made available. I'm just throwing this out there and I think it has no chance of being done but its still fun to talk about: We were unable to trade Manny for Santana, Wood, Kendrick, etc.....what if we cut the deal down to Ervin Santana and lets say Kendry Morales. Well we clearly lose a lot of offense.....but maybe we could spin around now and make a deal with Florida. Obviously people have heard Willis will be available and I think Cabrera could be made available as well. The Red Sox could then spin off Ervin Santana for Dontrelle Willis....plus Kendry Morales, Willy Mo Pena and David Murphy/Dustin Pedroia for Miguel Cabrera?? Its a complete pipe-dream but I had fun making it up. Of course this whole thing can get thrown out when the Angels deal directly with the Marlins and trade Ervin Santana and Brandon Wood for Miguel Cabrera.
  8. Thats strange I never heard the Giants requesting Ramirez, Papelbon, and Moss for Schmidt. Basically thats just another way of a GM saying we aren't trading this guy right now. Trying to get maximum value is one thing....trying to rip off another team is different. I really think being a GM with a reputation of trying to make ludicrous deals really limits the moves you can make. A team may inquire about a certain player but if you always request the world for them....you probably won't get much done. I guess it wouldn't "shock" me if the Giants asked for that.....but I would expect them to work with the Red Sox if they were serious about making a trade....otherwise you just hang up the phone.
  9. I can't imagine the Giants would ask for Jon Lester and Craig Hansen for Jason Schmidt. When a team starts demanding rediculous prices they tend to end on bad terms with other teams. The fact is the Giants are not out of the race and probably won't be becasue the NL West is a terrible division. I bet in September with a .500 record they will still be in range to strike and win the division. The deal with the Giants is they are a very old team. They have a few young guns on the rotation but I think a realistic trade would be something like: Willy Mo Pena and Dustin Pedroia for Jason Schmidt. Would I do that trade?? Not at this point in time because I think Jon Lester will be a very competitive #5 pitcher and we still don't know whats up with David Wells. If David Wells can come back there is no need for the Red Sox to make a move. We are fighting for first place and will be all season. If these guys can contribute by August for the stretch run then we are fine. There is really no reason at this point to do something crazy....stay in the mix and work on getting players healthy for the final couple months....that is all that really matters....until then just stay-a-float.
  10. I saw Oliver Perez as well too. I assume you are talking about the Oliver Perez from Pittsburgh. He is still very young and at one point was dominating the league. I don't know what has happened since then but he has really struggled. I think his mechanics are a mess but his stuff is still real decent. His velocity has dropped a little too. Certainly something to look at but there has to be a reason he has fallen so fast....perhaps the Red Sox can figure it out for him.
  11. Thats because we wanted Brandon Wood and Howie Kendrick (2 of the best prospects in baseball) and one of the better young pitchers in the game for a $20 million power hitter. Willy Mo Pena certainly doesn't cost as much as Manny, he is younger which the Angels are always excited about and we would be asking for one player...not 4 Despite those reasons I still think its a tough move. It would be like us trading Bronson Arroyo for Ervin Santana. If we could fill in another piece for them then perhaps they could figure something out.
  12. It would be amazing to somehow get LaPorta and Anderson to sign but not very likely.
  13. I really like Ervin Santana. Considering Gabe Kapler is on his way back....perhaps we could move Willy Mo Pena for Ervin Santana. I would imagine more pieces need to be involved but those would be the big names. I like Willy Mo....but I like Ervin Santana more.
  14. Manny is pretty bad in pressure situations. Seems like he always strikes out.
  15. I don't really get it.....we have a good team and are in the mix right now. Baseball is really about bringing guys in when the time is right. Sometime in August is the time to get the guys back who are injured and bring up the kids who have the guns to make a difference. When the rosters expand you may see Hee-Seop Choi, Dustin Pedroia, or David Murphy be that bench player you are looking for. Willy Mo Pena will be back from the disabled list and will be as strong a player you can get off the bench. Sometime later in the year we may see David Wells make a return and pitch well since he certainly has a well rested arm. Jon Lester may open some eyes and contributed stronger and earlier than people expected. Craig Hansen will probably have his control problems figured out for the stretch run. .....its still freakin June. The Red Sox have a better record now than they did last season. This is not the time to get nervous and make tons of moves when you still have plenty of time to find options and let guys come around to the point where they are effective.
  16. Certainly I hope Delcarmen gets more of a chance to pitch full innings. As for Craig Hansen I would hope he stays in AAA until August and come up around the same time Jonathan Papelbon did last year. That will give him the most time to get himself situated and be ready to really help us down the stretch. This is the best way for him to be successful because teams will have a hard time getting used to his stuff. Real interesting info on the starting pitching but thats obvious we need help. At the moment Jon Lester is taking David Wells spot and if he performs I think he could stay in the rotation. If David Wells comes back and Lester is hot.....goodbye Matt Clement.
  17. Maybe but I don't think he is on the 40-man roster.
  18. He spent three seasons in Colorado? That kills everyones ERA....hell if the guy can hold lefthanders down around a 2.00 average than I'm happy. I liked David Riske though and wish we could have gotten rid of one of the others (Seanez or Tavarez)
  19. Thats very true. No need to get nervous at the moment considering its still June. The ideal situation would have been for Jon Lester to come up in August...same time Papelbon did. That way teams don't get a real read on the kid and he has a better chance for success. Currently its not looking good but David Wells is not declared dead just yet. If he can come back that fixes a lot of problems with our rotation. That way Matt Clement can be given a short time to get his head straight and if not...then Lester can take his spot. As for the bullpen I'm actually happy the Red Sox sent Craig Hansen back to AAA to get more work out of the bullpen. When he comes back up later in the year he would be a big figure in the bullpen. Its frustrating at the moment but we are still doing alright. I think these young kids will get better as the season moves along. The veterans on the other hand (Foulke, Tavarez, Seanez) need to figure something out quick or thats the place I could see the Red Sox making a move by midseason.
  20. When the hell was the last time Keith Foulke was lights out?? You need to go back to the 2004 playoffs to see any kind of life from Foulke. I'm not exactly going to compare Tavarez to Foulke because they both suck so whats the point. Not only that but Keith Foulke is as big a "head case" if not bigger than Tavarez.....they are both ass holes....throw them both out. I don't think Foulke really had any issues with injuries...the Red Sox just threw him on the DL because he stinks.
  21. Keith Foulke is no better than Julian Tavarez. Rudy Seanez is a streaky pitcher....our bullpen is very "hit or miss". We have a few guys who can be relied upon but some that need to be changed. I would expect the Red Sox to address that position at the trade deadline. I'm just not sure what goes through Francona's head sometimes. Tavarez has not been pitching well lately but Francona goes with him anyways because at one time in his career he needed to save some games for St. Louis?? I don't think Rudy Seanez would be a great choice either but David Riske has held his own lately and where the hell is Manny Delcarmen?? He has pitched great when given the chance....apparently I just don't see what Francona does.
  22. Didn't the Twins get Liriano in some rediculous trade also?
  23. This is what Josh Beckett should learn to do with his changeup. I don't know if he can develop the same type of consistancy or movement but the velocity is great. He has a great change in velocity between his fastball and change. Beckett has about a 7 mph difference. Santana has about a 10 mph difference.....do something like that
  24. I'd like to see Chris Smith get promoted to Pawtucket. He has a decent arsenal of pitches and is healthy. He has the maturity to really show something so hopefully he gets his opportunity and can move up the ranks quickly.
  25. That is based on three games pitched. All three games against top offensive teams. I don't think Pauley is ready either but its not like he is far off from some of the players out there along with a few of the starters on our team.
