  1. Both give up a HR, both start off the first 5 batters the same, both walk the #9 hitter ....this is creepy
  2. he always does this.....needs to be more focused.....of course lets remember he is only 22
  3. time for Trot Nixon to make up for that White Sox game.
  4. Fat Ponson is a Yankee....YEEESSSS!!!!!!!!
  5. Which team is making this supposed "larger deal"?? I'm guessing its the Nationals?? Since they just got Kearns maybe they are ready to deal Soriano??
  6. the Nats got Kearns and Lopez for WHO?? good lord.
  7. That doesn't necessarily mean anything. I think we are taking this NL vs. AL thing too far. There are a great number of pitchers in the AL that are not ace caliber but are able to hold there own. Thats what the Red Sox need...someone who can keep the team in games and eat some innings. They may give up an extra run per game....but with the Red Sox they gain an extra 1-2 runs a game.
  8. Francona won't let either Schilling or Beckett throw a shutout because he doesn't want to add the extra workload. He knows the closer and setup men are good enought to finish off any game. The only player I think can have a complete game shutout is Tim Wakefield....because he doesn't get nearly as tired throwing 65-70mph.
  9. Jake Peavy won't be moved and in all honesty...thats not something we necessarily have to look at. Don't get me wrong I would love to have Peavy but the Red Sox don't need to get into a blockbuster of that caliber at this time. Someone like Woody Williams is interesting considering his experience. I can't imagine he would be expensive and he could give us around a 4.50 ERA in the #5 spot. That would help us get through the season and if you could package him with Ryan Klesko....that fills some holes. Chris Young is getting to a point where he would be expensive to trade for. Does anyone have knowledge about Chan Ho Park?? There was a time he was a very good pitcher but lost his stuff in Texas....is he returning to form??
  10. Abe Alvarez could have a decent career in the National League
  11. Depends what young pitching we are talking about. Certainly not Hansen or Delcarmen for Abreu. Those two young guys will help the Red Sox win more games for us than Abreu over Nixon.
  12. If they want Delcarmen or Hansen then the Red Sox probably wouldn't have to worry about the Yankees aquiring him.
  13. Its amazing how short some peoples memory is.
  14. MVP-- David Ortiz Comeback Pitcher-- Curt Schilling Comeback Position Player-- Mike Lowell Cy Young-- Jonathan Papelbon Best Glove -- the WHOLE infield (Lowell, Gonzo, Loretta, Youk) Best Catch-- Coco Crisp off David Wright Biggest Disappointment of a Pitcher -- David Wells Biggest Disappointment of a Position Player -- Jason Varitek ---------------------------------------------------------------
  15. At this point I bet Brad Lidge is available. Despite how much he has struggled...I find him and his possible situation very interesting.
  16. Considering the money involved with Bobby Abreu....I'm not sure he would cost a complete fortune (talent wise). I would guess the Phillies would want financial relief from his contract and of course....the Red Sox can do that. One thing for sure...if they made a move you can guarantee another move would soon follow as they can't have an outfield of Ramirez, Crisp, Pena, Nixon, Abreu, and Kapler. I still think this is just a move to keep the price up so he stays away from the Yanks.
  17. They certainly wouldn't trade Ervin Santana and Brandon Wood for Bobby Abreu and David Murphy. I would say Pedroia's name could come up but with Howie Kendrick and Wood...why would they have interest?? ...I'm not sure the rumor has any substance....I don't know how credible Ken Rosenthal is but the only thing I could think of is a three team deal. I can't name the team or players involved.
  18. Hughes is overrated....tops prospect in the Yankees organization but I'm not sure that means anything
  19. I agree that Liriano will get hit more in the second half. I'm not saying he will get crushed and suck but he probably won't keep this up all season. Otherwise we are talking about one of the greatest seasons ever for a pitcher and I'm not convinced just yet. He does look good though. I think his teammate Johan Santana will have something to say about it at the end of the season.
  20. I saw this on rotoworld.com A rival GM said the Red Sox have "very strong" interest in acquiring Bobby Abreu, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. I don't understand this at all. Perhaps the Yankees are interested in Abreu and the Red Sox are making an offer to push up the price on the Yanks?? Perhaps the Red Sox are working on a three-way deal?? I find this pretty odd and can't put the pieces together. This rumor will probably get scrapped but I thought I should bring it up for anyone else who has insight for this topic.
  21. I wouldn't be suprised if the Tampa Bay Devil Rays were on the NY Yankees payroll
  22. 1. He can deffinitly pitch in the AL. People need to remember he is 25 years old. 2. Considering he has not had any injury issues the Red Sox would be wise to keep him around.
