  1. I'm not sure if its been mentioned but the Atlanta Braves are looking into getting Rocco Baldelli. Now that doesn't necessarily mean much except....he plays CF. Just so happens the Braves have Andruw Jones in CF. IF the Braves were to get Baldelli.....I bet they would be interested in a deal either involving Manny Ramirez or a three way deal in which Andruw Jones ultimatly ends up in Boston.
  2. I think once again....Manny Ramirez will be on the Red Sox.....thats not a bad thing. Right now I could see the Red Sox getting Julio Lugo, JD Drew, and Eric Gagne but what makes me nervous is Daisuke Matsuzaka. The time on the clock is winding down and I hope they have a good plan in place. Other than that....having Jon Lester back is huge and gives us that extra starter incase of an emergency. If the Sox can get Matsuzaka under contract.....we have the luxury of allowing Lester to start in AAA and continue to work on his control problems.
  3. The rumors are flying and coming in from every direction. I think its safe to say Manny might not be a Red Sox at the end of the winter but lets review: The big sluggers are off the market and Manny is pretty much the last standing chip. With two years left and heading into the mid-30s....if you wanted anything for him....now is the perfect time. I would sit back and let teams fight over each other with the best package for Manny Ramirez. I love the idea by elsrbueno in getting Billingsley, Broxton, Kemp, and Furcal/LaRoche. A deal like that can make a club set for a long time. Everyone would bitch over the fact we can't replace Manny's production....but if Broxton and Billingsley become the next Liriano and Nathan (previously traded from the Giants for AJ Pierzinsky) then we made a steal.
  4. Dontrelle Willis is a better pitcher than Ching Wang.....that doesn't mean Wang couldn't beat him in a game necessarily. Overall Willis has better stuff and a great personality (something Wang does not pocesses).
  5. The offseason began 5 minutes ago......give it time its only the beginning of December.
  6. Thats my thoughts but everyone has been mentioning his name...like I said...if he was available then you get him....but I don't think he would be Looks like the Dodgers are jumping to the front of the line. Might be good for the Red Sox to sit back and let teams continue to counter each other....maybe that would drive the price up to a Jake Peavy type player.
  7. I'm really impressed with Broxton and Billingsley....those would be great additions. I'd rather see Kemp, LaRoche, or Furcal over Betemit
  8. Have you ever seen Jake Peavy pitch?? Great movement and an excellent delivery. Forget last years numbers as injuries played a part. He is nasty....you take him if he is available.
  9. Justin Morneau had a fantastic season and is deserving of the award. David Ortiz was more deserving with his game winning hits and huge power numbers. With the game on the line there is nobody you want at the plate more than David Ortiz. That speaks volumes. He probably won't ever win an MVP but he will go down as one of the deadliest hitters of all time for the Boston Red Sox. Derek Jeter had a good season....but everyone on the Yankees had a good season. Everyone is talking about how they can't see Morneau being the MVP of his team but when you have Mariano Rivera, Jason Giambi, Johnny Damon, Robinson Cano, Mike Mussina, and Ching Meing Wang....how can you say Derek Jeter is the MVP of the Yankees?? Same argument.
  10. Good find...Great stuff to watch. Not only does he have great stuff but he knows how to pitch. He changes speeds and mixes up his pitches nicely. Can't wait to see him in HD next year....SIGN HIM!
  11. Isn't your center fielder supposed to be your best defensive player? Like I've been saying I think JD Drew is more reliable than Coco Crisp. I'm not sure this point needs to be argued further since we are both in agreement....JD Drew would be a great fit on the Red Sox (however the team would like to use him).
  12. First I won't argue with Nixon vs. Drew vs. Varitek for the #5 spot in our lineup. I've been on the Drew bandwagon since he was removed from LA. I want JD Drew in the Sox lineup . Yes I think Coco Crisp playing center had something to do with his poor offensive season. Certainly the injury could be involved but how do you know for sure? You have never heard of a player switching positions and struggling at the plate? When changing positions it can have a mental effect on a player. I'm not saying thats what happened but it could have played a part. I like to take things one year at a time. Jacoby Ellsbury may be with the team in the future but lets worry about that when he is ready (which he is not). Until then I still think JD Drew could be more consistant and reliable in center than Coco Crisp. Either way I like the idea of having both Crisp and Drew in the outfield. Considering the Red Sox are talking to the Rangers about a possible Manny move...JD Drew becomes more interesting.
  13. I'd have to agree. From an offensive standpoint....Manny Ramirez is much more potent than either Texiera or Michael Young but both Texas boys are very good with the glove. They are both younger than Manny as well. It would be a tough choice between the two but I would have to stick with Texiera. As much as I love Michael Young as a baseball player...Texiera would ease the pain more when losing a player such as Manny Ramirez. I would gladly take either player in a deal.
  14. Thats a tough question about all baseball players. The Red Sox do have a very capable 4th outfielder in Willy Mo Pena incase he does get injured.
  15. I think they were looking at Adam Eaton as a backup rotation starter. He would probably be in the bullpen and be an option should a starter go down. Julian Tavarez is also an option from the bullpen incase we need a starter in a pinch. I believe the Sox also had interest in Barry Zito, Jason Schmidt, and Ted Lilly. I can see Zito or Schmidt but I'd rather have Tim Wakefield in the rotation rather than Ted Lilly or Adam Eaton.
  16. Hanley Ramirez wins the NL Rookie of Year.....didn't the Red Sox front office have more hope for Dustin Pedroia??
  17. Thats a bit extreme....if the Red Sox have Julio Lugo leading off....they won't compete in baseball Good call
  18. That is true and lets not forget that Coco Crisp was most effective in his career batting from the #2 spot. Julio Lugo could lead off with Crisp batting behind him. That would allow to base stealing threats to hit before Ortiz and Manny. So just another idea: 1. Julio Lugo 2. Coco Crisp 3. David Ortiz 4. Manny Ramirez 5. JD Drew 6. Mike Lowell 7. Jason Varitek 8. Kevin Youkilis 9. Dustin Pedroia
