  1. Part of me would rather have Pedroia batting leadoff. He has the ability to make a pitcher throw a lot of pitches right from the start. Kevin Youkilis would be good in the #2 spot but so would Coco Crisp or JD Drew. Lots of ways to go.....Kevin Youkilis leadoff and JD Drew hit second. Two guys leading off with a .400 OBP? There is no right or wrong answer because you have to love the possibilities in the lineup. In any event its a nice problem to have.
  2. Tigers trade a top pitching prospect for an old man? Kenny Rogers can't live much longer which would open a spot in there rotation. Looked like a great fit for Sanchez but..... a steroid injected old man in the outfield makes more sense.
  3. Makes you wonder a littler. Were the Red Sox prospects that bad before 2005? Or are these new guys really that good?
  4. I've always thought JD Drew was one of the better players in the game when healthy. I think he may come cheaper than some options and he fits perfectly in the Boston lineup. Go get him and back him up with Pena. A platoon can be put in place to save Drew for most of the season.
  5. 5 of the top 10 prospects drafted this past year. Now thats a great draft.
  6. We got a San Diego hitting coach and a Cleveland Guardians pitching coach. Not really sure of the Red Sox strategy thus far.
  7. Agreed. I'd rather have Mike Lowell for now. Unless he is Hideki Matsui or Ichiro Suzuki I'm not real excited. I don't know much about the guy but I don't think he is either.
  8. Consistantly too. I train wreck of an arm that throws 95 mph+ thoughout a whole season. Imagine if he was healthy....might throw 110 mph.
  9. He throws too many breaking balls and high velocity control pitches to be a closer....now that doesn't make much sense but to put it another way.... Matsuzaka has too many pitches to be a closer; he is a very solid starter. Anyone who wants to see a nasty clip of the guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsptUfnhVcc The first two pitches are insane. I love the second pitch he throws. Directly at the hitter then breaks all the way across the plate at 90mph. Joe Morgan is so impressed he just makes a noise (shock).
  10. My two cents....the Red Sox should pursue Daisuke Matsuzaka the most out of all free agents. ....the NY Yankees will get him.
  11. Ha thats funny.
  12. He needs to do a better job setting up batters. Now that he has the experience and has seen what teams are capable of....he should do fine. I would still like to see him re-establish that sinking fastball he once had. At the same time I would like to see Jonathan Papelbon work on a offspeed pitch....then he will be our best starter.
  13. Good post.....I agree for the most part except....I think a manager can know his team well enough to put the players in a position to succeed. There are others who place certain players in bad roles and set them up for failure.
  14. There are better corner outfielders available in free agency....possibly a trade.
  15. Manny Ramirez loses all my repect (the very little he had)
  16. 52 HRs for David Ortiz....more reason he should be the MVP....amazing he can do this without Manny batting behind him.
  17. I never said I would.....I was just saying its a nice idea. I'm not interested in giving up too much for Jones who is hitting 30 pretty soon I believe.
  18. Yup, the Red Sox will probably talk to the Braves about it. Again the Braves will want too much. It would be fantastic to aquire his services for a year before his contract expires. At that time (2008) Jacoby Ellsbury will be ready for the Majors. Tough to go through 4 CFs in 4 years though.
  19. He has over a .900 OPS and plays for the Yankees. Thats all I've been able to get out of people.....its a great argument.
  20. I want his wife. The only thing I would look forward too with that signing.... seeing her in Fenway Park.
