  1. Now that the Mitchell report is out I think we will see more news pick up about Johan Santana. I think its fair to say any team looking at signing a player to a 6-7 year deal worth between 100-150 million would want to make sure he wasn't in the report. Not to mention give up somet decent prospects. For all we know the Twins were ready to make a move with the Red Sox on either the Lester or Ellsbury deal but the Red Sox put a hold until the report was out. Maybe the deal the Twins want is already on the table. Without question this is the most drawn out potential trade I can think of in some time. Some trades have started up and free agents are being signed. I wouldn't be surprised to see some movement before the first of the year.
  2. How many other teams on the list have active players? Is it just the Red Sox who don't have anyone on the active list?
  3. I hate numbers, I'd rather just watch the game. I like making judgements based on what I see. That doesn't convince anyone but you can't convince anyone of anything on this site. Everyone has there opinion and they will argue that point to death, with or without statistical evidence. Which is fine...thats why most of us are here.
  4. Roger Clemens Andy Pettitte Jason Giambi Gary Sheffield David Justice Jose Canseco Jason Grimsley Denny Neagle Mike Stanton Chuck Knoblauch Glenallen Hill ....all these guys Yankees??? Did I miss anyone??
  5. Not sure if its been mentioned but maybe this is dragging out cause of the Mitchell report...make sure Santana isn't part of the report??
  6. Jose Reyes is a premier talent in the league and I can be positive the Red Sox would love to add him. That being said it's not realistic but I wanted to throw it out there cause it's fun to think outside the box. As far as helping a team aquire Santana I don't think they would have a problem if a chip is involved that can help the team. I mean what a way to stick it to the Yankees right? Help the Mets gain an ace pitcher while we walk off with an extremely talented shortstop. My first choice would be to add Johan Santana but if the trade isn't there to be made they may want to consider getting another team involved to move Santana away from the AL.
  7. I wonder if the Red Sox can work with the Mets and Twins on a three team deal. Send Johan Santana to the NL and bring Jose Reyes to Boston. I'm not going to think about a possible trade scenario...I'm just wondering if they could figure it out. Send Julio Lugo and Johan Santana to the Mets. Bring Jose Reyes to the Red Sox. Both teams group a good number of prospects to the Twins.
  8. Especially after his agent came out and said Coco expects to start this season.
  9. This could be a move to get the ball rolling on the Twins. By them throwing out the top deal for Bedard the Twins may think they have a limited amount of time on the Red Sox deal. Then again they may not believe it just as I don't.
  10. This seems like another situation where both teams counter one another to keep each other from making the deal. I can't tell if the Red Sox really do want to make a move for Johan Santana, Erik Bedard, or Dan Haren....or if they are just playing defense against the likes of the Yankees and Blue Jays (there biggest threats for the division next year).
  11. I like this trade even more for the Florida Marlins.
  12. for the love of god haha. this is killing me I can't sleep with this anticipation. After reviewing the trade by the Tigers/Marlins I think this Santana deal is even more important. The Detroit Tigers offense looks just as good as the Red Sox and Yankees. For the Red Sox to remain above these teams they need to beat them in pitching. What better way to stay ahead of the competition than to get this deal done...TONIGHT!
  13. McAdam reported on Sports Tonight that the Sox package is Lester, Masterson, and Kalish. No Crisp, No Ellsbury.
  14. Magglio Ordonez and Miguel Cabrera....thats a nice combo.....almost as good as Ortiz and Manny....almost
  15. I like hearing this because last thing I heard from Yankee camp was they were going to turn gears and look at Dan Haren. If the Yankees miss out on Dan Haren, Johan Santana, and Erik Bedard....they will have done very little this offseason. Well they did get to resign all the same players from last years team for over 400 million.
  16. Phil Hughes but I'll take Clay Buchholz over Phil Hughes
  17. In a word....No Yankees front office is talking a little too much this offseason
  18. Per roto: Safe to say a deal will be done. Probably in the next couple days.
  19. Deffinitly those may not be possibilities but I was using them as examples. There are many players out there and lots of teams interested in Crisp. I'm sure there could be a match out there that better suits the Twins.
  20. I think Theo knows this but going into the GM meetings he probably doesn't want to show his hand until they sit down with everyone. I have a real strong feeling the Red Sox will try to get another team involved. One thing we should consider is the Red Sox and Yankees are looking to add pieces to the Twins which they don't necessarily need. Right now the Twins outfield includes: Delmon Young, Michael Cuddyer, Craig Monroe, and Jason Kubel. They may insist on Jacoby Ellsbury but I still don't think its an immediate need. They are loaded on pitching with Liriano, Baker, Slowey, Perkins, Neshek, Nathan....this makes sense when the Yanks dangle Phil Hughes yet you don't see the Twins bite right away. The Red Sox do a great job of getting other teams included and I would look for the Sox to find a suitor for Coco Crisp and spin off that player in the deal to get Santana. The Twins could really use another infielder and the best the Yanks or Sox can offer is Jed Lowrie or Alberto Gonzalez. Blah..... The Padres and the Rangers are two teams who have shown interest in Crisp and I'm sure there are others. Perhaps, for example, adding Chase Headley or Hank Blalock in place of Crisp would interest the Twins. I bet those were the ideas Theo presented last night and they will wait to see what happens.
  21. I know there has been interest throughout the league in Coco Crisp. Minnesota doesn't seem to be too excited about him since they keep asking about Ellsbury. Perhaps the Red Sox can get another team involved by trading Crisp for pieces that interest the Twins.
  22. Wow great now we can speculate what they came up with. My first guess, Jacoby Ellsbury. My second guess, a third team involved.
