  1. Seeing Mujica in a different uniform is the first thing we've had to feel good about this year.
  2. Word. This isn't going to be a good season for the Red Sox, no matter how you slice it. A lot of folks here were predicting a box-to-wire first place finish even before the season started. But they were basing their optimism on baseball card stats, assuming that each and every player would perform to the peak of their potential, which is something that will never happen with any team anywhere. I'm curious to see how many more holdouts there still are on the optimism bandwagon when they're 15+ games out in September, all saying that the Sox could win 24 of the next 25 games in a triumphant last-minute surge.
  3. Red Sox should be securing the division lead any day now.
  4. Ditching Mujica should automatically add about 8 wins - if not a few more - to the win column over the course of the season. Mujica is Spanish for "game-thrower".
  5. Yeah it's only May. They may magically turn into a better team than they are right now. Y'all have been overly optimistic since before the season even began. Red Sox will finish third place at best in AL East if things go well for most of the season.

  7. Curious to hear what the story is behind the moustache parade. These guys look like a bunch of mall cops.
  8. Mujica is stepping up his game... now he can spot the other team a few runs without even throwing any pitches!
  9. "Well-executed by Narver!" ~ Jerry Remy
  10. Does this Hannigan guy remind anybody else of Pete "The Duke of Dorchester" Doherty?
  11. "enough wins to play better than .500 ball" The two they won against the Nationals were basically gifted to them, and the Phillies and Yankees did them a few favors too. They're not going to get lucky like that almost every day over the course of several months. They'll be 4th place in AL East by mid-May, if not sooner.
  12. He didn't not suck. Even the worst of them (in other words, Mujica) is going to draw a few groundouts and pops now and then.
  13. Red Sox will get the lead back. And then comes Mujica...
  14. Well that was pretty bizarre. It doesn't look like a tag got applied at third but out at second looks pretty clear.
  15. Ugghhh and the music is the worst of it.
  16. If this is how Layne pitches, they won't be needing Mujica any more.
  17. Their (Phillies) starter pitched a hell of a game. But then that Ross guy steps up to the mound, and it was certainly not his night, but he got a free pass anyway. The Red Sox lost to themselves last night. If you can't score a bunch of runs against a pitching performance like that, it's going to be a very long season. Hell, Ross got left in long enough to give 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances to run him up a flagpole.
  18. Doesn't matter to me. Pro sports contests have no bearing or effect on anybody's life, unless they have some kind of an obsessive personality disorder. I see no difference between a person who is a fan of a particular sports team and a person who may or may not be a Beatles or Rolling Stones fan.
  19. "Depth" talk is for teams that aren't fielding the cream of the crop. Other teams have "depth" too. And other teams have the cream of the crop that Boston booted. You can't let the likes of Lester and Lackey go both at the same time and not see a negative impact, unless you're replacing them with players of equal caliber.
  20. I wouldn't bet 25 cents on the Red Sox to finish any better than third in the division this year. 2015 is the juncture at which the AL East isn't what it used to be. Baltimore should win the division just by virtue of simply having their s*** somewhat together; they aren't going to need to steamroll over anyone. Blue Jays should be good enough for second. Tampa is a wild card; they could challenge for the division lead or they could trail the pack by 20. Red Sox and Yankees are a f***ing mess. Sure, the Sox have a few core players that can be counted on to do what they do best, but every other team does too; four guys can't play 8 positions.
  21. LOL the Red Sox have a green monster truck
  22. I've always wondered and thought that transporting equipment like that was kind of silly and digressive. Sure, the stuff costs money, but to an MLB team in a major market, the cost of equipment for the training facilities would be but a drop in the bucket.
  23. If Mujica is still around, he will single-handedly give away the 8 or so games that will make the difference between finishing first or fifth in the division.
  24. That Toronto crowd sure does get awfully excited whenever one of their boys hits a ball that is most certainly going to be caught...
  25. With Lackey and Lester both gone, now the Sox will lose most games at scores of around 9 or 10 to 7 rather than 2 or 3 to nothing.
