  1. Did you all see the look on Alexis' face last night when they panned the camera in on him in the dugout? You could have fried an egg on his neck. If he hadn't done what he had done, the short term result would have been a registered out and a runner on second. The long term result, who knows? If anybody can take the blame for the Yankees series loss, it is him more than anybody else.
  2. "unfortunately players do this" Some players do this.
  3. If my child played like that he would get a lecture from Daddy.
  4. I think it would be fun to see who can think up the best new nickname for Ahem Rodriguez.
  5. That Clemens guy sure sucked. Good thing we got rid of that worthless worn-out bum. Seriously though. The bottom line is, almost everybody has been so bad that Bellhorn's one home run generated more than just about everybody else could take credit for. 3 RBI. How many other Sox have 3 RBI in this series? If Bellhorn sucks, a whole buncha other folks been sucking harder and longer.
  6. "point of this thread is its a toss up" What toss up? Already trying to console yourselves? Even if the Yankees do win tonight, the bubble has already been burst and 55,000 New Yorkers needed a diaper change. You know those shirts and stickers that say "I (heart) NY"? That (heart) is palpitating right now.
  7. "Every time they have a meeting, they make a call against the Yankees." For someone who did not know, this would be quite enough evidence that A-Girl is new in town.
  8. Oh come on. Even the best players who've ever lived have had their dry spells. Bellhorn's dry spell just comes at a bad time. How much more productive than Bellhorn has Manny Ramirez been? Can you say "Ramirez Sucks"? Sure, I knew you could. :harhar:
  9. I think they should sign him then trade him to Tampa or Milwaukee for prospects.
  10. I wouldn't make any predictions about the performance of any player in particular, but these two teams are run-scoring machines and both are due to light up the scoreboard. Would not be surprised to see a final score of 13 to 9 or something like that, regardless of who wins.
  11. Duplicate post. Strange connectivity problems here.
  12. "the unclassy thing I have ever seen by a baseball player," Well, there was the Albert Belle incident a few years back. But at least what Belle did could be classified as MANLY behavior.
  13. ""Oh, that's how I run!?!??!"" No, but that's the way he walks I bet. While speaking with a heavy lisp and wiggling his heiny. I will bet my bottom dollar that next season he will be HBP more times himself by the Red Sox than all other players in the league combined. If Torre really is the nice guy that he is reputed to be, he'll have mercy on him and just bench him whenever the Yanks face the Sox. If anybody out there is friends or family, here's a few suggestions for Christmas gifts, as he will certainly need them: Leg Protection Head Protection Torso Protection
  14. Were the revenooers on their tail? It looks like he's been Hillbillyin' Up lately.
  15. I'm no fan af Mr. Francona myself, but hey, why the heck is anybody calling for the manager's head? If the ball David Ortiz sent to the wall Tuesday night has sailed 6 inches higher, the series would have been tied right now at 1-1. If one guy could have whacked a homer with one man on base Wednesday night, that game would have been tied and the Red Sox could very well have been leading the series at 2-0. Who would be flaming Francona then? The final outcome so far may be 2 losses for the Sox, but they certainly didn't get their butts kicked by any means. On both occasions, one swing of a bat could have changed the outcome. My hopes aren's so high right now, but if the Sox win games 3 and 4, this effectively becomes a 2-out-of-3 series from that point on. Who would you bet on at that point? I'd take the Sox regardless of who is pitching on either side.
  16. "It was stupid for schills to say that" I wouldn't go so far as to criticise him for trash talk. After all, this is just baseball. Just entertainment. It's not as if the baseball heroes are doing anything to further the cause of human evolution. They are there to entertain, and Curt is bringing that aspect to a higher level. What he said was hilarious, and it made things a lot more fun and interesting for fans on both sides of the fence. Whether with his arm of with his mouth, he's earning his pay.
  17. Oh come on. Curt had one of the worst nights of his life, and Mussina nearly one of his best. Yet the Red Sox, though not quite succeeding in getting "55,000 New Yorkers to Shut Up", certainly gave them all heart palpitations. Of course either team could win the championship, and that's why the games are played But I think it's a pretty safe bet that Boston takes 4 out of the next 6 games. How often does one see even the "partial" perfect game that Mussina dealt last night? In spite of that, there was only perhaps a two-hit difference in the outcome of that game. And it's far more likely that the remaining pitching performances will fall short af that magnitude. If the Red Sox continue to play as they already have over the last two months, the Yankees will have to play better than they have all year if they want to take the cake this year.
  18. OH, for those who missed it: "I'm not sure I can think of any scenario more enjoyable than making 55,000 people from New York shut up."
  19. The televised "shutup" interview was absolutely hilarious. It was not so much what he said, but the tone and the cadence that made it precious. That sound bite will become a standard on radio broadcasts for the next 100 years or more.
  20. Yeah one thing about Arroyo, whether he has potential or not, is that he has a winner's attitude; when he gets shelled he just kind of shakes it off with a smirk and moves on to the next guy. Most other guys (Mr. Lowe, for instance) get all wired up and P-O'd and just fall off the wall once they start letting things go. Arroyo has a certain composure that is not often seen in younger players who are not yet jaded or tempered by time and experience.
  21. I don't think Pedro is past his prime at all. I do think he is a crybaby though. Not just this year, but in previous years as well, I've gotten a sense that when he is upset, he "throws 'em a few meatballs" to put the offense players in the position of having to work harder for a win. I do think he is somewhat justified in being upset about lack of run support, especially the episode where he got 17 strikeouts and took a loss. But his infantile approach of not delivering maximum effort when he's in a bad mood cannot be justified. If you ask me, he's gone. Already been replaced. Curt's here.
  22. Well I don't "hate" anybody, but would have to concur that Mr. Lowe is the odd man out. Pedro: When he's hot, he's hot. When he's not, he's good. Curt: When he's hot, he's hot. When he's not, he's good. Lowe: When he's hot he's hot. When he's not, he's NOT. Not a championship team's starting pitcher. Period.
