  1. I get the 'words on a computer screen' point, too. But it's a bit of a straw-man. I don't think anyone is offended. The point is that it's silly and it would just be nice to talk about baseball ... not the announcers, the Rays fans, Joe Maddon's glasses, Joe Maddon's hair, etc etc. And FYI -- the Rays do have good fans. Their TV ratings are consistently very good. Lots of factors go into the sparse attendance, one of which is not the quality of fans that they have.
  2. "Or, we could just watch baseball and talk about it. Whatever." This would be nice. I would like to participate in the game thread, but there's just no point.
  3. Man these threads are something else lol. I don't get the hatred for the Rays, by the way. Yes, Luke Scott and Josh Lueke ... but from a baseball standpoint the Rays are really likable. Ton of respect for a team that consistently competes with the Yankees and Red Sox despite having so little money to spend. Anyway, that's as good a postseason game as you're gonna get ... shame someone had to lose. I wonder if Maddon is considering Moore on three days rest.
  4. Haha thanks buddy, much appreciated.
  5. Enjoy it, guys. Hell of a performance, in all phases.
  6. Tough to pin that on Loney, but had he broken for the bag rather than the ball the inning ends.
  7. Odd that Moore seemed so determined to finish off Napoli in the strike zone, all things considered.
  8. Quick, somebody say something about how much you hate Joe Maddon's glasses! Don't forget to use colorful language!
  9. Some of the things said so far in this thread have been, umm, insightful. Yeah, that's it.
  10. But probably better setup to contend in the future. I'm firmly in the let Cano walk camp. The whole long term contract thing doesn't work out well for the Yankees, or almost anyone else for that matter. Let the Dodgers pay an outrageous sum of money for his decline.
  11. Was just a matter of time.
  12. Yankees Elimination Day seems to be on track for tomorrow. They've now allowed 18 more runs than they've scored. The 2008 team would've wiped the floor with this one.
  13. Well this thread has taken a nosedive.
  14. Us Yankee fans really, really appreciate this lol ... despite the harsh thread title.
  15. Jeez that really, really hurt. Great win for y'all. Enjoy it.
  16. I'm in a 12 team PPR league. 100 dollar buy in so everybody pretty much knows what they're doing. Each TD pass is worth 4 points. QB: Russell Wilson RB: Marshawn Lynch RB: Matt Forte WR: Larry Fitzgerald WR: Dwayne Bowe TE: Brandon Myers FLEX: Jordy Nelson DEF: Pittsburgh (although I'll play matchups) Kicker: Robbie Gould
  17. Tim's mobility is a huge plus at the QB position. What he needs to improve on is his reads, when running the zone read, inverted veer, etc. He simply guesses far too often, rather than actually allowing the play to develop and making the proper read. He had the same issue at UF ... but that offense was just so talented that it didn't matter. His future isn't with NE, but it's at least possible (even if the possibility is remote) that McDaniels would give him a shot when he gets his next head coaching gig, whenever that may be. By that time Dan Mullen should be out of a job ... maybe you just go for it, bring Mullen on, and go all in the with the Meyer/Mullen spread.
  18. Slowly approaching striking distance. The A's upcoming schedule consists of 3 @ BAL, 4 @ DET, and 3 vs TB. That should present a nice opportunity to gain even more ground. Yanks obviously have to do their part, though.
  19. I would take that a step further and say that I can't think of a greater miscarriage of justice than the execution of a person. But yes, I'm completely with you.
  20. I'm happy I was able to allay those fears.
  21. Hahaha whoops. Must've hit 'reply' instead of 'reply with quote'.
  22. Oh come on. You're not actually going to try to bring facts and reasonable arguments into a discussion about the death penalty. Everyone point and laugh at the bleeding heart, liberal pussy. EDIT: In response to this post by rjortiz: "According to The Innocence Project, 25% of DNA exoneration cases involved defendants pleading guilty or confessing to the crime."
  23. Well, as expected, this thread got really barbaric really quickly.
  24. It costs more money, on average, to execute someone than it does to keep them in jail for the rest of their life.
