  1. I don't think the results of his ABs, especially early on, really matter lol. EDIT: In response to point about ARod.
  2. So after tonight CMW has an ERA of 7.13. Maybe the Yankees knew what they were doing after all.
  3. Ditto. What a bizarre situation.
  4. Well I'm hoping for your initial assessment to be more accurate than that one.
  5. Fair enough. When I hear unhittable I think of Pedro pitching a one hitter and striking out seventeen guys in Yankee Stadium ... or pretty much any start Pedro made from 1997-2000 for that matter lol.
  6. Ok, maybe we have different definitions of unhittable. But then that's a semantical argument, one certainly not worth having.
  7. That's fine, I don't disagree with any of that. But the performance you just described is not an unhittable one. I'm sure you agree with that.
  8. Even to just compare it to a start this year, he was nowhere close to as good today as he was a few weeks ago at home vs the Guardians.
  9. Yeah, the velocity was good, although it's not what it used to be in the summer months (sitting 95 and topping out at 98/99). I think some people tend to forget how hard CC threw, even in recent years, once the weather warmed up. But again, sitting 93 and topping out at 95 is more than fine. But I think saying he was unhittable early in the game is a pretty big exaggeration. I can show you games where CC was unhittable, and those looked far different than this one. When you're making those sorts of evaluations, the result is far less important than the process. Sure, CC didn't give up any hits, but he was behind in too many counts, had too many balls hit in play, and couldn't miss any bats vs righties.
  10. Well, I don't know if I would say it's back. It's better than it was earlier in the year, but it's nowhere close to what it was in 2011 and I don't expect it to return to that level. The velocity, though, isn't my primary concern. He stuff just doesn't play that well vs RHBs anymore, and that has manifested itself into him having a ton of difficulty missing bats. If he doesn't improve in that department this current iteration of CC is probably here to say. Remains to be seen.
  11. Gah they're just kind of a bad team. Not much else to say.
  12. I understand why they did what they did ... and I acknowledged that in my initial post (team image).
  13. In what way? Taking strong actions against someone prior to being convicted sends a message of presumed guilt, and that should be avoided.
  14. I'm disappointed that the Patriots released him. I understand they need to protect their image, but I think that sends the absolute wrong message ... and sending the opposite message, that of one being innocent until proven guilty, which is supported by our Constitution, would be sufficient in upholding their desired image.
  15. This is all pretty simple to me, and not worthy of any further analysis. A-Rod should not be making public the steps in his recovery, as that should be left up to the Yankees to do. Many sports organizations operate in this manner ... I assume lots of you are Patriots fans, so you experience this first hand. At the same time, it was unwise of Cashman to take his displeasure with A-Rod to the media. These things are always best handled in house.
  16. Well crummy result, but Nova's outing was encouraging. I think you have to keep him in the rotation over Hughes, at least for the time being. He has always had much better stuff than Hughes, so coming off a strong outing I'd like to see him get another opportunity.
  17. So frustrating when bad calls impact games to this degree, but while it's no real consolation, at least it's June. When I see calls like this, I always think to myself, 'imagine being a Cardinals fan'.
  18. Second passed ball in two innings for Romine lol. Although I guess the first one didn't count as a passed ball because the runner was going on the pitch. Point still stands, though.
  19. How this sport has no replay aside from HRs is something I can't seem to wrap my mind around.
  20. Hit the ball hard that inning, but nothing to show for it.
  21. And this has been some sort of frustrating inning. Oh well.
  22. I think Shawn Kelley is a guy worth hanging onto. And I don't think they saw CMW as a guy who could succeed out of the bullpen, so the only option is in the starting rotation. Hughes hasn't been good lately, but I don't blame them for not kicking him out of the rotation for CMW, a guy that is 4+ years removed from success at the major league level.
  23. I saw that, although it's worth noting that those observations always seem to have a negative connotation to them. Regardless, this has run its course, I think. We'll see how it goes.
  24. Well, the talk right now is that ARod, Jeter, and Granderson are due back in a weeks following the ASB. ARod and Granderson seem to be a bit ahead of Jeter right now, but this stuff seems to change fairly frequently. Unfortunate the other issue is the possibility of ARod being suspended, so who knows if he'll be back at all this year. As for Tex, who knows. The issue is beginning to seem chronic at this point and may require surgery, even though the Yankees don't seem to think so. I'm not counting on anything more from him this year, but I guess you never know. Pineda is currently pitching in rehab games, but once his 30 day rehab clock expires, the Yankees will probably stash him in the minor leagues for another three weeks because it allows them to essentially 'buy back' the year they lost last year.
  25. And it's not just always in response to them. Lots of shots are taken at them when they're not even on the forum/haven't even posted recently.
