  1. You're never as bad as you look when you're playing poorly, and you're never as good as you look when you're playing well. But while the Yankees certainly aren't this bad, when you look at their roster, the idea of them winning 90 games seems pretty far fetched. I never thought they would win the division this year, but I did expect them to take the WC. But then their number two starter went down, and they suffered some very steep regressions on offense. The pitching will get worse, and unless guys like A-Rod, Swisher, and Jeter rebound in big ways, making the playoffs doesn't seem all that likely.
  2. In terms of his HOF candidacy, Posada is close. 11th highest OPS of any catcher 14th highest WAR I'd probably lean slightly towards no, but I find Jacko's assessment of him as a 'borderline HOFer' to be reasonable.
  3. Yup really hard ... it's not like he carried your favorite team's offense through an entire postseason or anything. But yeah, he's just not the same player anymore. Lineup changes are in order.
  4. No FB command so far ... which has been his primary issue recently.
  5. Maybe the Knicks in 1999?
  6. Regardless of the result, it was a bad move. Sometimes pitchers get lucky, and that's what just happened.
  7. O'Sullivan has absolutely nothing right now.
  8. O'Sullivan was throwing batting practice. The Royals are very fortunate the Yankees only scored 4 runs that inning.
  9. Cervelli loves to remind us why he absolutely sucks. A backup catcher who is horrendous defensively, and makes a bunch of poor decisions. Wouldn't have thought a game would be over against the Royals in the second inning, but this one is as over as over gets.
  10. It's almost as if pitching poorly but getting good results always catches up to you...
  11. If Granderson gets a better jump on that ball, he catches it in better position to throw home. But as good as Granderson is, he really struggles coming in on the baseball.
  12. Two instances now where the Yankees have really missed Cano's defense since he departed from the game.
  13. Things I really dislike about Joe Girardi: trying to squeeze extra outs out of guys who clearly have nothing.
  14. Don't worry ... I called the game over the second he brought Buddy Carlyle in. I won't be wrong.
  15. It's almost as if Joe is trying to lose.
  16. Holy crap Joe. Holy crap holy crap holy crap.
  17. Meh, predictable. With the injury to Soriano and Joba having pitched in three of the last four games, Joe was sort of hamstrung tonight. The game was lost when Robertson blew the lead, and because the Yankees, aside from HRs, are in a collective offensive slump.
  18. Watching Nunez attempt to turn that DP makes you realize how quickly Cano does it.
  19. Joe doesn't like to use relief pitchers 4 out of 5 days, especially at this juncture of the season (non-pennant race games).
  20. This would be a bad loss, and Joe brings in Buddy Carlyle to help ensure that it happens.
  21. I miss the A-Rod that doesn't suck.
  22. And that's what happens. I like Robertson, but his walk rates make it very hard to trust him.
