It's kind of hard to see the defending AL champs, and the sexy pick this year, just rolling over. Because of that, I'm not counting the Tigers out. With that being said, I'm cautiously optimistic. I don't expect the Mariners to make a shocking comeback, so it's pretty much a two team race.
The Yankees have a favorable schedule down the stretch, although they have the disadvantage of only have one more off day. I'm curious to see what they do with the rotation, especially if Clemens proves himself healthy and Mussina pitches strong against Toronto.
If you do the math, it looks extremely good for the Yanks, but I'm not admitting it's over just yet. The next week should determine if the Tigers have a chance or not.
