  1. For what it's worth, there are Yankee fans that want to see a guy pitch a little with the big club before they begin to drool over him. He's got a great change, but, as I've said many times before, there was a reason there must have been a reason why the Angels let him go twice.
  2. Wow, well, this has not gone well. Mussina continued to go to curve after curve even though it was either out of the zone or he was hanging it. As bad as the Yankees have been against the Angels in recent years I honestly don't remember them sweeping the Yankees in Anaheim. Kind of surprising. Big spot for Pettitte tomorrow (second straight really important start for Pettitte). Unfortunately it comes against the Angels ace. Monday's game was so important because Escobar and Lackey were slated to pitched the next two games. Monday didn't work out and now the series has really taken a turn for the worse.
  3. Uh oh, I would not let him face Casey. Edwar would be a good matchup for him. EDIT: Nice play Robbie!! Wang gets the luck he needed. EDIT 2: Joe is really asking for trouble if he leaves Wang in the 7th.
  4. It's beyond me too. What's also beyond me is how he is immune to criticism from Yankee fans.
  5. Bad situational hitting by Matsui. EDIT: That's nine hits already against Wang. I thought his name was supposed to be mentioned amongst the elite pitchers in the AL...
  6. Once again, Wang simply does not look sharp.
  7. I'm not commenting on how much he plays, because I simply don't know how much does play, but usually younger players need less time off, so that's not really a valid explanation.
  8. SOTK, I'm surprised you don't like the Eagles to win the division. Just curious, but what's the reason behind that?
  9. He did take something off that pitch (95 according to the YES gun), but I don't think it was right down the middle. That pitch was inside and jammed Tejada in my opinion.
  10. I completely agree with almost everything you said, but you would have to admit, the runs that Gagne gave up were in a completely different fashion than the run Mo gave up.
  11. He's incredible, easily the best corner in the league, but I too find it hard to believe that he only gave up four receptions. However, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't give up a TD reception last year.
  12. To answer your first part...exactly. But that's why I would rather have one of the other two. As for your second part, when you say he hasn't sniffed his potential, what are you basing that on? What do you think Melky is going to become?
  13. Hunter is slugging .269 points higher against lefties. Rowand is slugging .189 points higher against lefties. They also both have better OBPs. They both are, far and away, better hitters against LHP.
  14. The point you bring up about the money is a very good one, and, if they decided to retain Abreu (either by picking up his option or resigning him), they're going to want to save money. I just feel that the other guys fit better. The one guy that I really wanted was Ichiro, but that's no longer possible. The Yankees really don't have a ton of right handed hitters that play every day, which makes them slightly weaker against lefties. Torii Hunter vs. LHP: 118 ABs, 10 HRs, .363 OBP, .644 SLG Aaron Rowand vs. LHP: 133 ABs, 5 HRs, .395 OBP, .564 SLG Melky Cabrera vs. LHP: 112 ABs, 1 HR, .344 OBP, .375 SLG I understand that it's a small sample size, but it's pretty telling. Clearly Yankees Stadium is a lefties park, so it's important to have some really good left handed hitters, but there needs to be some balance. In terms of Zambrano, I'm not saying he's not a great pitcher, and I'm not saying that he's not better than anyone the Yankees will have, but where are you going to put. 2007 Yankees Rotation (barring injuries): Chien Mien Wang - a definite Phil Hughes - a definite Andy Pettitte - assuming his option will be picked up Mike Mussina - no other place to put him, unless you can trade him, which is unlikely Joba Chamberlain - not a lot of choices here...unless you keep him as a reliever next year, but I don't want the Yankees to have the mindset with him that the Red Sox do with Papelbon I would love Zambrano, but the year to sign a starting pitcher might be next offseason, when Pettitte and Mussina come off the books. On top of that, I think there's a good chance that Zambrano resigns.
  15. That's fair. Both Hunter and Rowand are older, so I could see why you would want to keep Melky over them. However, I also think Rowand is a better player than Melky, in almost every facet, so I'd probably rather have him. The one thing that really bothers me about Melky is his inability to hit LHP.
  16. I was just bringing up the point that some people think that traded away Melky would be a terrible idea. All I was saying is that there are some pretty good centerfielders that will be free agents next year, and if you sign one of those guys trading away Melky wouldn't be the worst thing.
  17. I agree with everything you've said except the focus part. I think Cano has corrected that problem.
  18. And you shouldn't, as I've said, when healthy, he's a damn good pitcher.
  19. It's easy to see why he would make the projection. Even if you thought that they would win the series, you can't honestly tell me you thought they would have swept. He made this thread knowing he's going to be wrong at times. You can't get on him for every series that he gets wrong, and for what it's worth, I'm don't think Kilo intending this as a insult thread to the Yankees. He predicted that they would take both series from the Red Sox...
  20. For Gom's sake, I'm going to file this under the joke category. The stats that Gagne put up as a Ranger, over the first four months of the season, should not be forgotten.
  21. For the Yankees sake, I'm hoping that luck runs out in the next month and a half. With that being said, they're not the team that concerns me, in the wild card race.
