  1. And unfortunately not pitching like it.
  2. Exactly, and this happens every game. It doesn't mean the team is not trying. On top of that, it doesn't even mean that he's not trying or doesn't care about winning.
  3. Why do the Yankees have to have the last game of the season at home? Why can't they give the Stadium it's proper send off one week before? I don't see the big deal here. On top of that, if that game is truly the last game at Yankee Stadium, there are going to be bigger issues.
  4. I never saw the Lugo play, but even if he didn't hustle, it's one example, even if it's a perfect example. As for Francona, he's trying to set up his team for the postseason. Is he doing it in the most efficient way...probably not, but the theory is correct in my opinion. If you're going to tell me that homefield advantage or an extra day off is more important then properly preparing your team for the postseason, then I strongly disagree. Remember, the Red Sox are a pretty banged up team. They should use this week and a half to their advantage.
  5. I second that. I think you're going to have explain yourself, HeHateMe.
  6. Oh, ok, thanks.
  7. Well, that didn't look like it was his pinky like it did on Sunday. He threw the ball well, command wasn't great, but he got out of it.
  8. Joba Chamberlain coming in for the first time in the middle of an inning, but it's two outs and nobody on.
  9. All these base runners were bound to cost Pettitte eventually. Should have had a double play there, but A-Rod is starting to struggle defensively. They're lucky they got the out at first there. EDIT: Ok, nine more outs to go, but only a run one game. With an off-day tomorrow, Joe should do everything he can to get this win.
  10. True, but I don't think that would be the order they would start in a best of five series (assuming the Yankees win the wild card and they can manipulate their rotation to start whoever they want).
  11. Detroit lost today, but Seattle won. Although the Yankees are five games ahead of Detroit, while they're six games ahead of Seattle, the magic number to eliminate both teams from wild card contention is six. This is because both teams are even in the loss column.
  12. The Red Sox (like the Mets), probably sense a little bit of desperation and come through big tonight.
  13. If this allows Manny to be 100% come playoff time then it's completely worth it for him to rest his injury.
  14. Thumper, I suggest you change your sig before you start hearing a lot of s*** from people.
  15. Rician Blast, it doesn't necessarily portray Gom in a better light, but I don't think he's talking about you. You might know this, I just wasn't sure and thought I would point in out for clarification purposes.
  16. Gom, the Yanks were 3-6 against the Angels this year. EDIT: Wait a second. You want Posada to DH? What exactly do you want the lineup to be?
  17. The Yankees are now up 4.5 games over the Tigers.
  18. Yankees next three games: Brian Burres vs. Andy Pettitte Roy Halladay vs. C.M. Wang Shaun Marcum vs. Ian Kennedy It's much more important for the Yankees to prepare themselves for the playoffs, so it's on the coaching staff to find a medium in terms of how hard you go after the division. If the wild card race is basically settled heading into the final week, and the division is in the balance, the Yanks need to find a way to go for the division without ruining any postseason preparation.
  19. Wow, in a must win situation Verlander really stunk tonight.
