  1. I was just looking at both sides of the equation, and I never said that they would or wouldn't win the series.
  2. That would be nice, but I'd be happy if the Yankees just get in as the wild card. Unless the Yankees sweep this weekend, I don't think they have any shot at the division. As a matter of fact, I don't think it's so clear cut that you necessarily want homefield advantage, especially in a five game series.
  3. Only way to go!!!!
  4. Alright, well, Detroit is losing 11-0 after seven innings today in game one of a double-header against the Texas Rangers. And not that it really matters anymore, but Seattle lost again last night.
  5. I think it could be argued that none of the pitching matchups this week favor the Yankees. Hughes - Marcum...Advantage Marcum Mussina - McGowan...Advantage McGowan Kennedy - Burnett...Advantage Burnett Actually, it doesn't even really need to be argued, it's pretty much a fact. The pitching matchups all favor the Blue Jays, although this doesn't necessarily mean that they will take the series. If you Yankees' offense can stay hot then things might be different. EDIT: By the way, thanks for the subtle jab in the previous post lol.
  6. John Gibbons better have a good f***ing excuse for not going to Accardo. Let them right back in the f***ing race. Piece of s***. EDIT: He had announced before the game that he was going to a closer by committee. Still doesn't excuse the fact that he let Janssen stay in when he clearly couldn't get anyone out. EDIT 2: This could be exactly what the Tigers need to spark themselves. This is why I'm not counting the Tigers out. Great win tonight from them.
  7. It's kind of hard to see the defending AL champs, and the sexy pick this year, just rolling over. Because of that, I'm not counting the Tigers out. With that being said, I'm cautiously optimistic. I don't expect the Mariners to make a shocking comeback, so it's pretty much a two team race. The Yankees have a favorable schedule down the stretch, although they have the disadvantage of only have one more off day. I'm curious to see what they do with the rotation, especially if Clemens proves himself healthy and Mussina pitches strong against Toronto. If you do the math, it looks extremely good for the Yanks, but I'm not admitting it's over just yet. The next week should determine if the Tigers have a chance or not.
  8. I think Lackey and Escobar is just as frightening.
  9. Federer's ability to stave off set points on and off serve is bordering on ridiculous. EDIT: Federer plays a near-flawless tiebreaker in the second set, and goes up 2-0.
  10. The first part is the point I was trying to make.
  11. You only need to throw two pitches to be an effective reliever. He has a changeup and curveball, they're just not as refined as the other two. It's not like he's strictly a two pitch pitcher.
  12. NICE! That's about as easy an inning as you could have asked for. Great effort from the bullpen tonight to pick up the offense.
  13. Agreed about the last part, unfortunately it should not be this close. Wow, Matsui is really struggling. The 2-1 pitch was right down the middle and he just took it, and then the 3-2 pitch was right down the middle and he didn't square up on it. Mo time.
  14. Well, this has really been a game of wasted oppurtunities for the Yankees. Three straight innings with the bases loaded and two outs, and all three guys get out. They've yet to get a hit with RISP this game. On top of all that, Joba had to sit for awhile during the Yankees' half inning.
  15. Wow, great play by the ex-Colt. Definitely can see he had possession on the replay.
  16. Yeah, I think Coco pointed that out on page one.
  17. No more complaining about the umpires from me. The pitches that Betemit and Posada walked on were strikes, and there were two bad calls with Ichiro on the bases. I'll admit a break when I see a break, and the Yankees have gotten their share tonight.
  18. STOP WITH THE BUNTING!!!!!!
  19. Whether they score here or not, bunting with Damon is an awful decision. EDIT: I try to blame the players, but that is terrible managing. For a lot of reaons a bunt there is a really poor decision.
  20. I never said it should be Bannister. I was simply pointing out that I would discredit Bannister because he plays on a losing team.
