  1. Well, Hughes is making his next scheduled start in Texas, so they don't need to make a decision on that just yet.
  2. They're kind of limited in terms of options, not to mention the starter got two outs tonight. You have to live with guys like that giving up runs. With that being said, the only thing I'm really upset about is the Markakis home run, because he didn't need to still be pitching in the 7th.
  3. I don't understand what Girardi is doing by letting Albaledjo start his third inning. Terrible outing from him, and here comes Veras. The next five outs to Rivera might be tough (as usual).
  4. Terrible pitch selection there. Albaledjo got two fastballs by him and then decided to speed up his bat with a slider.
  5. Yeah, I mean, I don't propose using him as a starter or even in long relief. But I think he could be more effective in a short relief role than some of the other guys in the pen.
  6. Nice job, following the home run by Albaledjo, but I stand by what I said. I think Tomko could really thrive if they gave him more innings.
  7. Should be Tomko.
  8. Batting Order: 1. Nick Johnson, 1B 2. Chase Utley, 2B 3. Victor Martinez, C 4. Ryan Howard, DH 5. Jayson Werth, RF 6. Carlos Lee, LF 7. Michael Young, 3B 8. Jhonny Peralta, SS 9. David Dejesus, CF Starting Rotation: 1. CC Sabathia 2. Dan Haren 3. Ervin Santana 4. Jered Weaver 5. Udaldo Jimenez Bullpen: CL: Andrew Bailey SU: Leo Nunez SU: C.J. 9. David DeJesus, OF
  10. Agreed 100%. It's a tough decision. I know I stated earlier in the thread that I would lean towards keeping him in the bullpen, but a lot of it depends on what the Yankees plan to do. If they plan on letting Hughes take Pettitte's place in the rotation next year, then he should probably go back down to the minors so he can start consistently. This isn't about how well he has done in the minor leagues, it's about putting him where he can start every five days.
  11. Obviously, but my argument is that both actually make sense.
  12. It could be argued that for Hughes to further develop he should be starting every five days. Therefore, if Wang is healthy, the only place he can do that is the minors. However, Gom's argument is valid as well, and is the one I tend to agree with.
  13. No talked about decline in this conversation, but a700 is claiming that many people were saying that when he left the Red Sox (at least that's what I think he's saying).
  14. This is pretty stupid, because no one is really wrong. a700 is correct that Damon's pure offensive production has not declined, as many people claimed it would when he left the Red Sox following 2005. ORS and DipreG are both correct in their positional argument.
  15. Joe Girardi can be so terrible about managing the bullpen. How do you stick with Ramirez here against Mauer, with Coke ready?
  16. STOP TRUSTING JOSE VERAS IN CLOSE GAMES. EDIT: Tomko or Aceves against RHH late in close games. Call someone else up to serve as the long man. Those guys are two of their best options, and they shouldn't be relegated to be long men. One of the main reasons the bullpen got the job done yesterday was that they were both used.
  17. This teams execution with a runner at third and less than two outs is pretty pathetic.
  18. Bad call there to strike Jeter out.
  19. Wow, Derek Jeter is an absolute joke defensively.
  20. Speaking of luck, Carlos Gomez has been on base each time, and is yet to hit a ball hard.
