  1. I meant what Bonds did in the later part of his career.
  2. Not sure if this was pointed out, as I haven't read the entire thread (if it was, I apologize), but Beltran was playing the first time Burnett faced the Mets.
  3. I'm really not trying to be controversial or anything, and there is no point to having this argument because it won't go anywhere. However, and I said this in another thread, what Bonds did, steroids or no steroids, is absolutely spectacular. As for the Yankees crack, it doesn't have anything to do with that.
  4. I was thinking about something today. What Pujols has been doing the last few years, especially this one, is really incredible. But, at least for me, it makes me appreciate even more what Bonds did. As good as Pujols has been he still falls well short (at least in some categories) of Bonds.
  5. Good stuff today. Obviously the most encouraging part of the last few games is A-Rod. Like Jackson said earlier, the Yankees really do seem to go as A-Rod goes.
  6. I've been defending Girardi a bit, but letting Pettitte face Escobar was a truly awful decision. One of a the signs of a bad manager, in my opinion, is someone who is influence by something small. It's likely the only reason Pettitte was left in is because he struck out McCann so easily. One strikeout does not undo how poor he has pitched the entire game.
  7. Wow, this team has about the worst outfield defense I've seen in awhile...
  8. And Diaz clearly sticks out his knee.
  9. Bases loaded, two outs, top of the first...Cody Ransom hits a grounder that may have went over the corner of the third base bag, but was called foul. It was close. I'm not whining, just making an observation.
  10. Wow, every batter has either hit the ball well or walked. Doesn't look like either starter will be long for this game.
  11. Yankees might have lost three runs...
  12. Yeah, in his post game press conference, he all but admitted that was his intention. Girardi went out there wanting to get tossed.
  13. Sorry about the wait guys. Next time I have work and my pick is coming up, I'll remember to PM Kilo. Jhonny Peralta, SS
  14. Kilo, I agree with some of the things from the nyyfans quote, however I really hate the last part. It is really so dumb, and so many people do it, to say that most of the players don't care. The person writing that has absolutely no idea. It is such a stupid thing to say.
  15. You are really downplaying some of this team's problems. First off, Nady will help, but he is not a difference maker. Second, there is reason to be concerned that some of these guys will not right themselves. A-Rod has been awful. This is probably the worst he has ever been. Now there are a number of reasons why this might be the case, and one of them is that he is just slumping. However, if it is one of those other reasons, then we might have a big problem. Guys like Nick Swisher, Melky Cabrera, Robinson Cano, and Hideki Matsui (4 of the 9 starters) are too inconsistent right now to be sure that they'll be a big help as this season progresses. As for the starting rotation, Joba Chamberlain and C.M. Wang are huge concerns. AJ Burnett and Andy Pettitte are very inconsistent. And it remains to be seen whether or not CC's injury is at all serious. Kilo is right about a couple things. Things are never as good as they seem when you are winning, and things are never as bad as they seem when you are losing. However, he is also right that you use the "we'll be fine" mantra way too much. You have absolutely no substantial reason to be as optimistic as you are. Things may turn out fine, but they also may not. Right now, there is just as many reasons to think that things will turn out poorly as there are reasons to think things will turn out well.
  16. This is unfair because when Girardi took CC out after 101 (June 6th vs. Tampa Bay) he made comments about wanting to stay in the game.
  17. Wow, this team is really horrible offensively right now. I'm very concerned that some of these guys who are struggling aren't going to turn it around.
  18. Phil Hughes. This has got to be the end of the road for Wang.
  19. CMW has one of the worst change ups for a MLB starting pitcher I have ever seen.
  20. A-Rod looked pretty pathetic on the Escobar single. I know he hit it hard, but it was barely to A-Rod's left.
  21. lol, I wish I agreed.
