  1. Is it really fair to make the argument based on distance? I think most people would say that Matsui's HR yesterday was helped by the stadium. It traveled 379 feet.
  2. http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?mid=200906135029303&c_id=nyy http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?mid=200905254718321&c_id=nyy Those are a couple that I remember off the top of my head.
  3. You could be right, but it also wasn't hit to left center as you initially said. It was really straight away left. I've seen a number of HR's hit to left field this year that really didn't seem like they were struck too well. I understand that the commonly accepted theory is that the ball park really only plays small to right. In my opinion, to a lesser degree, it also plays small to left.
  4. Ball carries well to both fields. There have been more cheap ones hit to right, but there have definitely been a bunch of cheap ones hit to left.
  5. I'll say this about Romero, that change is excellent.
  6. Of course lol. Both of the home runs today have been NYS specials.
  7. Let me clarify once more. My comment was only concerning today. I do not know enough about Romero to comment on his entire season.
  8. Fair enough. He's been fantastic recently.
  9. Brett Gardner needs to be the starting center fielder. The difference between him and Melky defensively is much greater than the difference between the two offensively.
  10. Nice running catch by the left fielder at the wall. Terrible play regardless.
  11. Posada has looked awful today.
  12. Gotten relatively lucky so far though, although he has gotten some big strikeouts with runners on base. Regardless, he is falling behind most of the hitters, and there have been a number of hard hit balls that have been caught. He also got an out when Jeter tried to steal third.
  13. What really concerns me about Pettitte is that I'm not sure he can throw the ball much better than he has today. He's fallen behind to a number of hitters, but even when he is at his best, he's doing this. I've said this before, but the Yankees rotation to really a concern to me. And another bad base running decision by the Yankees.
  14. And it's not only the result that makes it a bad play. As DSF pointed out, the risk is simply not worth the potential gain. Great play there.
  15. It's not like anyone is holding a grudge. It was a poor decision, and it's just being pointed out.
  16. And the call just killed the Yankees.
  17. I realize that. I said what Jeter did was inexcusable... Bad call there has to chance to really hurt.
  18. Too many people spout conjecture like it's fact.
  19. For what it's worth, Rolen never tagged him until he was on the bag. However, it doesn't excuse what Jeter did. Romero was really struggling in the first, and he only deserved one of the outs he recorded (the strikeout of Posada). I really don't like most people stealing in general, but this is clearly one of the worst situations to do it in.
  20. Well, I agree about the volley. Possibly the biggest point of the match.
  21. Looks like we have Ian Kennedy part two... http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090705&content_id=5706850&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=nyy
