  1. Believe me, I'm not complaining at all because that was very close and the Yankees received a huge gift in the previous inning, but... That pitch was inside, even with the wide strike zone that brooks baseball gives... http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfx/numlocation.php?xml=http://gd2.mlb.com/components/game/mlb/year_2009/month_06/day_30/gid_2009_06_30_seamlb_nyamlb_1//pbp/pitchers/453344.xml&batterX=090630_202040&innings=yyyyyyyyy&s_type=1&sp_type=1&h_size=700&v_size=500
  2. Yeah, and the worst part about it isn't even the bad call. It's that the home plate umpire made the call. He has to defer to the third base umpire there.
  3. Wow, terrible strike 3 call against Ichiro to start the game.
  4. How do you know it was the hip that's bothering him? You're putting a few things together, but that proves nothing. Do you disagree that he has shown much better range lately and is hitter much better? Don't you think those also might be signs that he is healthy? EDIT: And some of your premise for this argument was that they got Hinske for 3B, which is incorrect.
  5. Right. Wow, my mistake. Thanks.
  6. His OPS is 15 points higher than Teixeira's. I think you're exaggerating the difference.
  7. It's extremely close. Runs, for what it's worth, shouldn't even be used in the discussion. Anyway, I think you could make a case for either one. Also, I see that Morneau has a higher OPS+ than Teixeira, but Teixeira has a higher OPS. How is this possible and what am I missing?
  8. Couple things. First, Pena has been hot lately, and with him, you're talking about an incredibly small sample size. Second, while I agree that Hinske's statistics as a bench player are more relevant in this situation, you cannot ignore what he has done as a starter.
  9. Has Morneau really been better than Teixeira? Teixeira has two more home runs and a slightly higher OPS.
  10. lol, I feel pretty stupid because I'm guessing there is a joke here that I'm just not seeing...
  11. Really? He seems healthier now than he has at any point since he's come off the DL.
  12. I'm not sure I'd call it a solid 1-4. I really don't trust Pettitte at all, especially against a good offensive team.
  13. That is no proof that steroids improved his pitch recognition, which proved to be one of his greatest strengths.
  14. My comment was about his production. We know he took steroids. We know that, in some ways, it's tainted. However, his offensive production was still incredible.
  15. This was in reference to Burnett. Then Gom made a comment about the Red Sox, and people starting talking like the Mets were a different team when they faced the Red Sox. Offensively, the Mets were the same then that they were the first time they faced the Yanks (when Burnett started). As for Burnett, he hasn't done it against the greatest offensive teams, but he has been good lately. He's been excellent since his start against the Red Sox, and, before that, he totaled 12 IP and 3 ER against the Rangers in two starts.
