  1. Did you read my explanation addressing why the call likely had absolutely no impact on the outcome of the game? It's one page back. As for Gardenhire, when I've seen him manage in big games I don't usually like what I'm seeing, but it's hard to make such a general judgement when I don't see the Twins that much. I think you would fall into this category also, a700, unless you watch frequently watch the Twins. He is, however, the guy that blamed God Bless America for his team losing a playoff game.
  2. Also, another similarity between blown calls of the past is that the crew chief tonight was Tim Tschida...
  3. The umpire made an awful call, I'm not excusing that. However, there is one thing that should be taken into account. If Mauer is on second, instead of first, Kubel would be intentionally walked. The Twins would be in the exact same situation, first and second, nobody out, for Cuddyer. If you look at it that way, the call had absolutely no bearing on the outcome of the game.
  4. YES! The Yankees are very fortunate. I know you guys see me complaining about the umpires a lot, but I'll do it no matter who is benefitting from the call. The umpiring in this league is pathetic.
  5. Also, I know you don't want to take any chances with no one out, but Mauer probably scores easily on the single to center. Gardner has an awful arm.
  6. The Twins were not very selective there. Can't really blame Young because he hit it hard, but Gomez had an awful AB.
  7. I wonder if Cuddyer bunts...
  8. What's funny is that, in the past, the Yankees' have won the games when an ump made an awful call (Richie Garcia and Tim Tschida). Tonight might be a different story.
  9. Marte is horrible. The Yankees had their chance to win this game.
  10. Can't ever complain about the Umps again.
  11. Awful. I think they should have given Damon the green light on 3-0. All you need is a fly ball and it's over.
  12. Hopefully it doesn't matter, but Cervelli.
  13. A squeeze play would work to perfection.
  14. Steal and a single please.
  15. I hope so. Next inning would be Marte and Robertson against the middle of the Twins' order. The Yanks have to win it here.
  16. He never shows in. The pitch selection continues to be awful.
  17. His change is awful right now.
  18. Why the f*** are you throwing a 3-2 changeup to Nick Punto?! Unreal.
  19. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfx/location.php?xml=http://gd2.mlb.com/components/game/mlb/year_2009/month_10/day_09/gid_2009_10_09_minmlb_nyamlb_1//pbp/pitchers/150274.xml&batterX=091009_212820&innings=yyyyyyyyy&s_type=3&sp_type=1&h_size=700&v_size=500 Right down the middle. Not up, and not in.
  20. That is A-Rod's second humongous hit off Nathan in his career.
  21. A-Rod looks petrified.
  22. Green light please.
  23. That's not necessarily accurate. His worst stretch of the season, which fell short of awful, took place from the end of July through the middle of August. After that, through a good part of September (including his blown save) he threw the ball well.
