  1. Strange inning. They only hit one ball well, and got one huge break, so they're lucky to score two runs. But, at the same time, Lackey gave every single hitter good pitches to hit, and the Yankees just kept missing them. Definitely could have been less, but it also could have been more.
  2. According to things I've heard, the Phillies point to that game as the reason why Pedro had some struggles in September.
  3. Pedro on his game early.
  4. Tonight's game almost certainly won't be delayed. http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/graph/USNY0172?from=36hr_topnav_undeclared
  5. Figgins, Abreu, Guerrero, and Morales are all significantly better against RHPs this year than LHPs. The opposite is true for Hunter and Rivera.
  6. The Yankees are going with the normal lineup tonight. Jeter 6 Damon 7 Teixeira 3 Rodriguez 5 Matsui DH Posada 2 Cano 4 Swisher 9 Cabrera 8 Judging by the series against the Red Sox, the Angels seem to have a set lineup against RHPs and a set lineup against LHPs. If they stick with that, I expect their lineup to be... Figgins 5 Abreu 9 Hunter 8 Guerrero DH Rivera 7 Morales 3 Kendrick 4 Mathis 2 Aybar 6 I would expect an official Angels' lineup to be announced shortly.
  7. If there's a game on Sunday I wonder what time it gets played. Doesn't seem like there are any logical solutions.
  8. Still didn't really think Lidge looked particularly good, but he gets another save.
  9. Yeah, can't get doubled up on a ball hit to the outfield.
  10. So, surprisingly, it's the Dodgers' bullpen that blinks first.
  11. Haha, possibly the worst two nights of the Yankees' season. They lost to Doug Fister and then got shut out by Brett Tomko. Pretty improbable.
  12. Lol, Fister faced the Yankees back in August, and when the Mariner's were winning the game late I couldn't stop thinking "The Yankees are going to get beat by some guy name Fister". Incredible.
  13. Why remove Happ in favor of Bastardo?
  14. Yes it will, and I'm concerned. If both teams are forced to use four starters, that gives the Angels an enormous advantage in one of the games. The other thing is that it might create scenarios where both are forced to use pitchers on short rest, when they don't want to. In all depends who is better prepared to handle that, and I'm not quite sure of the answer. It probably wouldn't have mattered at this point, but one of the main reasons why game 7 of the 2004 ALCS was such a blowout is because the Red Sox were better equipped to handle the situation that was created by the rain out. There is a distinct possibilities that game 1 might be on Sunday. That would eliminate two of the three off days in the series.
  15. Kershaw is really in the middle of the plate early on.
  16. Based on the weather forecast, I have a really hard time believing this series starts tomorrow.
  17. You think Joe Saunders is better than AJ Burnett?
  18. The Yankees replaced Eric Hinske with Freddy Guzman.
  19. I'd love if they added Mauer and Pujols!!! You think it could happen?!!?!?
  20. Kilo, I think they would be wise, next year, to start DHing Posada and A-Rod. Keeping A-Rod healthy through the duration of his contract is going to be an extremely difficult task, and I think he should DH about sixty games next year (I realize that is a very arbitrary number, but I'm just throwing something out there).
  21. If every game get played as scheduled I like the Yankees' chances in this series. Sabathia would pitch up to three games. Saunders would be slated to pitch twice at NYS (against Burnett and Pettitte). I think they would be able to find four wins in seven games (or fewer). However, if games start to get rained out, my confidence would go down.
  22. Saunders was good in September, but he has not had a good year, and he has been awful on the road. I'm looking forward to the Yankees seeing him twice this series.
  23. But at the same time, putting the ball in play can cause two outs, instead of one. It's double edged. Being able to put the ball in play is only a useful tool if you're a good situational hitter. Now, I have no idea what kind of situational hitter Jason Bay is, so I can't comment on this specific case. EDIT: Can't believe I got beat to the punch while responding two minutes after the post hahaha.
