  1. Unbelievable that there is a camera sticking out over the wall.
  2. The wild Andy Pettitte finally showed up in this postseason. However, the biggest play was Hamels' bunt.
  3. Apparently the tarp is on the field at the moment.
  4. As expected, Sabathia was officially named the game four starter.
  5. Who are the better Major Leaguers that play in the Caribbean leagues?
  6. It may very well not work out for the Yankees, but they have to do it. Sending Gaudin out to start in Philadelphia is pretty much sacrificing a World Series game. You can't do that. However, if they somehow find a way to win the next two, I wouldn't be stunned to see Gaudin pitch in game five. On the other hand, I don't think it's a good move by Philadelphia. I understand that Lee has never done it before, but you have to put the series in the hands of your best pitcher. If the Yankees just take one of the next three, I would give them a decent shot to win both games back in New York, mainly because they won't have to worry about Lee. The main reason you pitch your ace on three days rest in game four, is so you can pitch him in game seven.
  7. Ah, my bad. Didn't even notice that you responded to Jacko.
  8. Lee isn't starting game four because the Phillies don't want to ask him to do something he's never done before.
  9. Also, Girardi confirmed that Damon is going to play left field in game three.
  10. I certainly hope they go with a three man rotation, but you're really making an assumption. The Yankees haven't even officially committed to their game four starter, let alone their starters for the rest of the series. Also, I think Charlie Manuel is making a huge mistake only having Lee pitch twice in the series. I understand that he has never gone on three days rest before, but, if it gets to a game seven, they likely pay dearly for this decision. In my opinion, you have to put the weight on the shoulders of your top players, and, for the Phillies, that's Cliff Lee.
  11. You have to admit, he was giving that pitch the entire night. At that point, if he called that a ball, it would be even worse, because he had already established that pitch as a strike.
  12. Exactly. Those injuries could not have been planned for. EDIT: Not to mention Beltran was signed when he was 27 (soon to be 28). It was an excellent move, and I was really hoping that it was going to the Yankees who would step in and get a deal done.
  13. http://www.lohud.com/article/20091030/SPORTS01/910300367/0/SPORTS/A-Rod%20not%20worrying%20about%20slump Check out the part about Selig on the second page.
  14. Fair enough. What network do you watch the games on?
  15. "Selling his ass" for Johan Santana? He gave up absolutely nothing. He stole Santana. As for Pedro, you're right, he didn't last the duration of his contract. However, he made the Mets legitimate. That was his first move after taking over as GM, and I think it changed the culture of the Mets. Remember, they got Carlos Beltran later in the offseason. I think there's a very good chance that Beltran doesn't come, if not for the Mets showing that they want to contend. You can say whatever you want about payroll, but here are the facts. The year before Minaya took over the Mets were a bad team. The next year they were decent. The next year they were the best team in the National League. Last year was a tough year, but no team would be able to persevere through the injuries that the Mets suffered. Three of their four best offensive players missed significant time, and three of their four starting pitchers missed significant time.
  16. It's kind of amazing that you literally just made that up. Completely made it up. Out of thin air. Yet you get on Jacko for not being in touch with reality. Yeah, I get it, he got beat by Bay. But he attempted seven, not one, and converted six of them. *Not including postseason, where he is 3/3 on save attempts that are more than three outs.
  17. It wasn't caught on a fly...
  18. That is news to me. EDIT: Obviously they weren't going to let him go two innings in the regular season. However, look at what he's done this postseason. The one thing that has always remained constant about Rivera is that he almost never shows ill effects of being tired in his second inning of work. He might get beat, but it won't be because of diminished stuff on diminished velocity. As a matter of fact, in his last two inning appearances this postseason, he actually looked better in his second inning than he did in his first inning.
  19. Mo's biggest strength, in my opinion, is his ability to go two innings. I'm pleased that the Yankees have used him that way for the last two wins. Unfortunately it took Hughes to struggle before the Yankees finally decided to do that.
