  1. I'm really enjoying watching Molina make a difference behind the plate.
  2. And the poor defense continues. With the exception of Teixeira and Cano, there have been a lot of negatives defensively for this team.
  3. It really is unbelievable that they refuse to pitch Utley inside. EDIT: He is so comfortable up there, knowing that they're going to throw every pitch away. They have very little chance to get him out that way.
  4. Every empty trip through the heart of the order hurts more than usual, because of this lineup. I just have no faith in Teixeira at this point.
  5. With his strike zone, there is no way that first pitch to A-Rod should be a strike.
  6. Gom, come on, you cannot act like this is a sure thing. I would admit, the argument to start Molina has some merit, but so does the argument to start Posada.
  7. AJ has to knock Utley off the plate next inning.
  8. It really bothers me that Molina is catching this game. First off, the only time AJ really pitched great was game two of the World Series. While he had decent lines in game two of the ALDS and game two of the ALCS, he was up and down over the course of the game, and benefitted from a great deal of luck (especially in the ALDS). He also pitched poorly in game five of the ALCS. That certainly does not justify the decision to leave Molina in there. Considering Matsui is out of the lineup, along with Melky, the Yankees lineup is already hurting enough. If you couple that with the fact that Teixeria and Cano both look lost at the plate, the Yankees need all the offense they can get. Taking out their number five hitter, who is coming off a big hit last night, is a bad move.
  9. I really don't think Victorino ever made an attempt to pull his bat back. He obviously never intended to actually bunt the ball, but even if it's kept out for self-defense, it's still an offer at the ball.
  10. The Yankees' biggest problem all year has been pitch selection, so why should it change? Throwing the run back two seamer on 1-2 to Rollins is a ridiculously bad selection, and they refuse to pitch Utley inside. Last night, during his second AB, CC finally decided to go in on Utley with two straight fastballs. He popped up to second. When you keep going away, you allow him to extend his arms, and that's when you get beat.
  11. No reasonable Yankee fan thinks Melky is anything more than an average baseball player.
  12. To name a couple off the top of my head, the 1985 Cardinals and the 1979 Orioles blew 3-1 leads. The 1986 Red Sox remain the only team that was a strike away from winning the World Series and ended up losing.
  13. Also, in a way, it's almost extraordinary that they won last night's game, when you consider the fact that they only hit three balls well over the course of the entire game.
  14. Interesting note... In all six series prior to the World Series, the closer of the losing team blew a save, while the closer of the winning team did not. Ryan Franklin in game two of the NLDS Joe Nathan in game two of the ALDS Jonathan Papelbon in game three of the ALDS Huston Street in game four of the NLDS Brian Fuentes in game two of the ALCS Jonathan Broxton in game four of the NLCS Brad Lidge did not pick up a blown save last night, but, when it comes down to it, he did cost his team the game. It's certainly an interesting trend.
  15. I realize that. I was simply responding to the comment that no team has ever blown this kind of lead in a World Series.
  16. I agree, but he actually has not been nearly as aggressive this postseason as he is normally. He is just really lost at the plate right now. EDIT: And I knew it was the game, but I was asking about which incident (which you answered).
  17. There have been multiple teams that came from 3-1 down to win the World Series.
  18. What was this in response to?
  19. Yeah, I don't disagree. The only issue is that it leaves Lidge with no breathing room. There is a reason why the majority of hitters do better with the bases loaded than any other situation. However, I think A-Rod, because of how good he has been, transcends that logic.
  20. Oh, I thought you meant that they should have walked Posada. Fair enough. I can see walking A-Rod also.
  21. In fairness to Johnny, he has always had a speech impediment which was compounded by his collision with Damion Jackson. That was so unbelievably scary.
  22. I completely agree with this, especially because Cano has looked awful.
  23. Well, I really question the decision not to elevate a fastball to Feliz after getting ahead 1-2.
  24. These next three outs are going to be incredibly difficult.
  25. Now how does Joe play this? That's a huge run the Phillies got back.
