    I am one of those fans, and I'm not saying it's fair. But here's the deal. The majority of people will do whatever it takes to make a buck. Such is life in this society.

    Our society dictates that a franchise like the New York Yankees can do whatever they want with their ticket prices. People can either go, or stay home. That's their personal choice. It's the same reason I didn't complain when the Giants' raised their ticket prices and charged for PSLs. For the record, I'm not part of the group of people that can afford those outrageous prices, so it's not like I'm unaffected by the changes. However, I understand this is the way things work, and you won't find me complaining.

    By all accounts George Steinbrenner has absolutely nothing to do with the New York Yankees anymore. So find someone else to blame this past year's ticket prices on. Also, I'm a fan of the New York Yankees, and one who attends games. I've never complained once about the ticket prices. As for me only feeling this way because I'm a fan of the Yankees, I don't think that's a fair assumption. I believe I've shown, on this site, that I keep bias and subjectivity out of my posts. The opinions that I share on this site are very rarely influenced by my fandom, and this isn't one of those rare instances.

    I'm glad he cares so much about winning, but you should get a little background information on him before you make such sweeping generalizations. When it comes down to it, neither of us know what kind of person he really is, but he has been an incredibly generous and giving person throughout his life.

    I guess I haven't made my stance clear enough on this issue. There are two sides to this. There is the argument that the Yankees' success off the field is justification for the amount of money they spend. From a business and capitalist stand point, that is completely fair and logical. Then there is the argument that, by spending all this money, they aren't allowing teams lesser teams to compete. From a competition stand point, this is also logical. I completely recognize that there are two sides to this argument. Neither are necessarily wrong. The problem is, some of the Red Sox fans that have chimed in want to paint this as if it's a clear, black and white issue, where only their argument has merit. I don't think that's correct.

    You don't think that the team that makes the most money should be able to take advantage of that fact? It's absolutely ridiculous to think that they shouldn't take advantage of their success. Championships are won on and off the field, and the Yankees' ability to bring in revenue is one of the big reasons why they were able to win it this year.

    That's fine, but also rather childish of you not to respond to the rest of the post, when you challenge me with a question. My business example made a lot of sense. You can say that the Yankees bought their championship all you want. I don't disagree. They spent more money than anyone else. However, they make more money than anyone. I don't understand why you think that's irrelevant. After all, America is a capitalist society.

    Don't you think the team that brings in the most money should be allowed to spend the most money? I understand that football and basketball have salary caps. That is certainly one way to do things. And if baseball ends up implementing a salary cap, I won't have any problem with it. However, lets take a look at a hypothetical business example, because I liked E1's hypothetical Chinese baseball example so much. Five companies are competing to find a cure for baldness. However, Company A made more money than the other four companies because of the success of their past products. Would you condemn them for spending more money than the other four companies on research?

    What are you talking about? The Yankees bring in more revenue than any other team, because of their past success. This is what allows them to spend as much as they do. Think of it this way. By winning the business aspect of the sport (making money), the Yankees are able to better their chances of winning games on the field.

    Gom does have a point, though, when he says that the Yankees are able to put all this money into the team because they make the most money. This is a business, and, in a way, the Yankees deserve credit for making more money than anyone. They are reaping the benefits of their success in the late 90s.

    Fair enough. Neither of us were at any of the games in 1995, and the place was incredibly loud when Posada tied it.

    Haha, that's a great story. You didn't have the right field bleacher tickets at that time? My dad was at that game, said it was the loudest he ever heard the stadium.

    The memories I have of Justice in 1998 is the crowd chanting "Halle, Halle" at him, after he said the only way Yankee fans could be worse is if they came to the park with uzis.

    That's fair E1. I know your position on the Yankees' spending, and it's definitely a reasonable one. I believe we had this same conversation earlier in the playoffs, so I think you know mine as well. I understand that it's convenient for a Yankee fan to feel the way I do, therefore I understand if you equate my feelings to my fandom.

    I'm assuming you mean Justice in 2000? I'm not sure if you know what he said to reporters after the game, but I absolutely loved it. He told all the reporters that he just wished all of them could feel the way he felt when that ball left his bat. Pretty great stuff. The only playoff game I've been to on your list is Boone, which was obviously spectacular. I'm not really sure which one was my favorite thought. I've seen them win the World Series once, which was in 1999. Game two of the 1996 ALDS was also great, watching them come back against Ken Hill, and seeing Jeter score on Palmer's bad throw. Were you at either of the series clinchers in 2001? The emotion in that stadium those two nights was absolutely amazing. Anyway, I know you didn't ask me lol, but I just really enjoy talking about this kind of thing, and I figured this was the appropriate time to look back on some of these games haha.
