  1. that is definately a negative, i know a lot of dumbass sox fans and i have heard nothing of that. i do think however that the media blew the "tragedy" out of proportions. saying how it was amazing that he came back and pitched. i mean seriously. it was his wifes cousins kid. if my wife cousins kid died in my pool i would fly back for the funeral but would have no problems doing anything, especially pitching against my rival team. the damn media made it seem like he was superman. the damn flight was harder on him that the death i bet. john
  2. no, i work once a week at starbucks for fun. john
  3. honestly, i think that the cardinals will take it all this year. i mean there is no 3 batter lineup scarier than the pujos, rolens and edmonds. i mean the yankees have the 2-3 of jeter sheffield and the sox have the 3-4 of manny ortiz but 1-2-3 is just dirty. either way this post season is going to go down as one of the best in the history in baseball imo. houston is going to take at least 2 at home and the same goes for the sox. john
  4. millar came into my work today. i was shocked. i was speechless then i started running at him. for once i didn't wear my sox hat to work because i woke up late and just ran to work. he signed my work visor though, pretty cool. that's all i guess, he came in with his uncle and cousin and later his mom or aunt showed up. john p.s.- he asked me if i was ready for the game. i replied "you're the one playing, are you ready?" he goes, well we're going to sweep at home in a very confident voice.. i hope they come out strong.
  5. i refuse to talk about the offseason contract wise until we are either world champions, al champs or knocked out of the playoffs. john
  6. i hear that yeszir. with lowe pitching and hopefully some sort of rainout pedro will get that extra day or two rest and be good for game 6 and it will fit in nicely so that arroryo will start in enough rest if the series were to go 7. john
  7. i should have stated it more clearly. schilling made his ankle MUCH worse on that play against garret anderson. before that it was probably slightly inflammed, after that was probably when it really got bad. if schilling was hurt he shouldn't have played. he tried to "tough" it out. sometimes you just gotta learn to not be that macho man and sit yourself for the sake of the team. it's not schillings fault, nor is it francona's. john
  8. we won't be able to afford that, especially if we are looking to sign pedro, tek, and another sp. john
  9. terrible terrible scapegoat here. francona is NOT at fault. schilling hurt his ankle against the angels. he just made it a bit worse by playing game 1. he should not have started that game, PERIOD. like i have said before, a tendon injury is not something that heals in a couple games. it's something that takes months along with surgery. he's done for the season, if i see him pitch again this season i'm going to be ripped. john
  10. i don't know what it is, but i don't think i have EVER seen a game that pedro pitched in which the sox actually scored a plentiful amount of runs. it's like they forget how to swing when pedro pitches. john
  11. are you a student at SU? john
  12. you sure are ignorant. mo is such an amazing closer. i would take him over foulke any day, any game, any where, any count, any score and any weather. as for saying yankees suck and talking smack to the yankee fans. seriously guys. until we actually beat them in a meaningful series (ie playoffs) we shouldn't be talking smack. i know i don't, not until the game is over at least and it has to be legit. lets be real now. our 2 BEST starters, the guys who were supposed to win it all for us have been gunned down. schill is most likely lost for the season, if he pitches again this lcs it's going to jeopordise his career. it's not looking good for us at all. i admit that i believe we CAN pull it off, but i'll also be the first to admit that it could possibly be all over. our best case scenario is that fridays game is rained out. pushing everything back one day. pedro gets that extra day rest and comes back game 5 with us winning games 3 (i have us slated to win this cus of bronson) and game 4 (gem by wakefield needed). if we take the 3 at fenway we go back to yankee stadium up 3-2. it gives us 2 chances to take 1 game. hopefully there is some other sort of rain out game 6 and bronson gets the extra days rest for game 7. i sure don't mind having this kid on the mound for game 7. john
  13. we are watching the game, we don't need play by play updates. john
  14. wow, what is so hard to understand. curt didn't have his best stuff because he couldn't push off his back foot. as a fastball pitcher you usually throw heat right down the middle (sometimes). curt couldn't do that AT ALL, therefore he had to rely on hitting the corners. hitting the corners is A LOT harder than throwing a ball right down the middle like he's acustomed to. don't get me wrong, curt can locate, but without his heater down the middle it makes his job a lot harder. did anyone watch the game? sheesh, he couldn't push off his right foot like he normally does. hence the loss of velocity, as stated over and over again. if curts ankle doesn't get better he WILL not come back strong game 5, in fact, he won't come back AT ALL. the docs said (before game 1). it's not something 1-2 games will heal, it'll take months. either he goes and toughs it out and hopefully can pitch with it or he'll get shelled. he got shelled. simple as that. i'm ready for the worst and hoping for the best. john
  15. something i don't understand about SOME yankee fans is that they think.. oh wait, they don't think. you're right, curt schilling didn't have his stuff. did you watch the game? if you did you would realize that his fastball had no pop. you don't just lose 7 mph on your fastball moron. it was because his right ankle was injured. if you know ANYTHING about pitching you would know that schilling is a fastball pitcher and fastball pitchers rely on their back leg so they can push off and get the "pop" on the fastball. we are not making any excuses, we lost, the yankees OWNED us up to the better part of the 6th inning. but schilling being hurt is a FACT. you're right, the sox are constantly in second place. the reason is because we are in the division with the HIGHEST paid team in the majors. put us in ANY other division in the MLB and we are more than likely to come out first. i'm not one to bitch about payroll because the sox have a rediculous payroll also, but if you want to bring it up.. FIFTY + million dollars a year is a MASSIVE difference. for 50 mill more the sox could have randy johnson, vladdy and smoltzy easily. i would think that even the most confident yankee fan can agree that with those 3 extra players it would be nearly impossible to beat the sox. so for 50 million dollars less i think we can all agree that the sox can manage who they sign a little better considering the yankees have only one a handfull more games than they did this season. john
  16. the yankees strike zone was smaller than a cracker jack box. it was rediculous. the game was pathetic, we should have put it away. john
  17. schilling was pitching with no right ankle. he had no pop on his fastball because he wasn't able to push off his right leg. i would have pulled him much sooner and put in myers against bernie. but whatever. if ortiz ran through that triple he would have had an in the park home run, tying the game, giving us all the momentum. john
  18. looks like i might be able to watch it afterall. i just finished studying for the 8 am class and the 9:15 is 80% done. too bad i need 110% on both. i took some aderol this morning and i've been wired and sitting at the library reading/taking notes etc since 8 am.. sigh. 2 more hours of hardcore studying and MAYBE i can watch the game. john
  19. i can't believe i won't be watching game 1 of the ALCS, this is so sad. i have 2 exams tomorrow, 8 am then 9:15. it's so sad that i've been studying since 8 this morning and this is my only break because i needed to print something out. PLEASE root extra for me. sigh back to work john
  20. i've said it time and time again, pedro is a must sign. i find it extremely annoying that people call him a crybaby. shut up people. you don't know him. you sound like the damn boston media. do you really think pedro thinks that the yankees are his daddy. this guy is such an arrogant man. he has way too much pride to say that and mean it. he was just frustrated. or playing games. i love pedro, i love his attitude even more. i love his arrogance, his cockiness. it's great. if we don't sign pedro the yankees will and we'll pay more than ever. mark my words. lowe is gone, unless we sign him as reliever, other than that, he's gone. tek is a must sign if the price is right. if he wants more than 7-8 mill a year he can go elsewhere. there is no need to have a 32+ yo catcher who's past his prime. his arm isn't very strong and his batspeed is slower than an old lady behind the wheel. i love tek, but only at the right price. john
  21. what is a chick? john
  22. what is this chump doing posting here. i would go to the mets forum and make fun of you. but i think losing kazmir is tough enough as it is. john
  23. kapler would own sturtze if he tried that again, but face to face. john
  24. most definately, watching derek lowe pitch was probably the most intense thing ever. i must have put gray hairs on my head because of that. john
