exactly, he's exactly what the sox needs. (other than PITCHING, i have a pitching fetish) outfield defence, a strong arm, good hitting, BASE RUNNING. damnit, when is this guy a free agent? john

crespo, you're absolutely right, but on the sox i'de rather have ichiro. we already have PLENTY of players who can score other players. ever heard of a guy named manny and a guy that is just entering his prime named ortiz? ichiro would be MUCH more valuable on the sox than bonds imo. john

sisler was more of a power hitter than ichiro. the season in which he set the former hits record he hit over 25 hr's (i believe, check the stats, i think it was 35+ but i can't really remember). either way ichiro is a beast. having an average of .370+ with as many as bats as he has is SIMPLY AMAZING. he's so damn good. i would honestly take him over bonds on the sox. john
  4. i'm just not sold on clement and i think pavano will get owned at fenway. john
  5. yeah, the sox are going to fall apart. here are some guaranteed sox next season: damon, manny, ortiz, nixon, schilling, wakefield, foulke, mirabelli, youkilis. a few small pieces and that is a contending team. you obviously know nothing about baseball and even less about the sox. how is pedro not worth resigning. i sure as hell don't mind #2 AL strikeout guy, only to be topped by the (soon to be) Cy young winner. 4th in WHIP, 3rd in BAA, 5th in IP, 6th in wins, 8th in era (after 4 horrible starts). pedro would be top 4 in era if it wasn't for his past 4 starts. oh dear god, pedro is only a top 5 pitcher. better let him go before he becomes a top 10! yes, he wasn't the sub 3 era pitcher we were used to. but i don't see why everyone is so quick to throw in the damn towel on this guy. he's pitched MORE innings than last year, his velocity is HIGHER than last year, he has MORE strikeouts than last year but he isn't as dominant. his ERA is higher. this is something pedro can fix, someone of his caliber just doesn't go from a 2.2 era pitcher to a 3.9 for no reason. he'll fix it. if you don't sign him some other team will and make you look like baseballs biggest morons. how many hall of fame pitchers do we have to let go before we realize that 32 is not OLD for a pitcher. john
  6. because of that statement i'll take everything you say from now on with a grain of salt. seriously. before the last 4 starts pedro was pitching pretty damn well. even with 4 terrible starts his stats are not all too terrible. there is no way whatsoever that arroyo is better than pedro. he's been great for us this season, surpassing expectations but have we all forgotten the extreme up and downs that arroyo was at the beginning of the season? i judge a player by his whole season, not by the last months of the season. i mean seriously now, chavez and tejada were terrible against us in last years alds, does that mean oakland fans should hate on them? if it wasn't for them they wouldn't have even made the playoffs. john
  7. that's what they said about clemens. guess how many games he won the next 2 seasons? 40 (maybe 41). he's also STILL pitching and is among the nl's top pitchers. john
  8. to not resign pedro would be one of the dumbest moves the sox have ever made. it'll sit right up top with the roger ordeal! 75% of 1998-2003 pedro is better than 110% of clement, pavano etc. back on topic: pedro playing poorly is killing me. i can't stand seeing this guy not play well, i'm just not used to it. but seriously, don't hate on him so soon. if you are stick with it, i don't want to see a hate bandwagon then a love bandwagon once he pitches well in the playoffs. john
  9. wtf is going on with pedro. this is driving me absolutely insane.. i'm still on the pessimistic side and thinks he'll be fine once we start the playoffs. john
  10. it doesn't matter which order mulder zito hudson appears, they are a formidable trio. there is no ace on that team. i'm just afraid the sox not taking the a's too seriously.. that could just be disasterous. john
  11. i don't care what anyone says. i would rather play the twins over the a's. yea, we might be dominating them in head to head play this year but the playoffs are another thing. the big 3 will bring their A game. the twins might have santana but you people need to realize we have PETEY AND SCHILLING. santana has to lose a game sooner or later. i have confidence in the sox lineup. we might have to see santana twice but the twins will have to see either pedro or schilling twice. either way, odds are not in their favor. john
  12. manny just CRUSHED one. john
  13. we have a perfectly capable team. john
  14. dude, the kid is 20 and was no hitting my team. that's amazing. i don't care either way. we're making the playoffs. what we need to see is pitching from this kid to get us ready for some hardcore pitching come playoffs. sigh! john
  15. umpires are lame as hell, it's so obvious he didn't hit millar on purpose. why would he. he was no hitting the sox through 3. that's just poor poor judgement. let the damn kid pitch!!! john
  16. 3 inn pitched 6 k's.. ouch. john

    Ichiro

that's what my boys from seattle tell me. apparently during batting practice he'll just put on a show and knock balls out of the park like it is second nature. this guy is just a machine. too bad he is playing in seattle and not getting the credit he deserves. he would be such a weapon on any contending team. john

    Ichiro

my god, this guy needs a whole thread to himself. he's a machine, plain and simple. from my what my seattle friends say ichiro can hit for power. supposidly they've been begging him to play in the home run derby for years now. discuss. john
  19. many would say the sox should just hire him as bench coach but i believe there is a limited amount of coaches a team could have. john
  20. you seriously need to chill out, i'm sure there are kids reading these forums. reading curses from you word after word isn't the best thing for them. have you considered counseling? you are a very very angered person. john
  21. kim and myers totalled 4 runs, lowe had 5. don't blame it all on kim and myers, lowe gave up 5 runs, he is also to blame. john
  22. ^ coming from the ADMINISTRATOR of this board.. we're all sox fans afterall, i really hate to see sox fans go at it with each other. we have other people to hate. i have no beef with anyone, but don't think you're going to be able to take a shot at me (crespo, then bosox) and expect me to not say anything back. considering my responce wasn't even really harsh at all. john
  23. ^ looks as if crespo has a challenger! john
  24. i have watched their past starts. schilling has pitched considerable better. when was the last time that the ace didn't pitch the first game? that's just the way it is, seniority. petey has stated that he didn't care who started first and that schilling has been pitching great. if they start schilling then so be it. i'de just rather see the ball in # 45's hands in all game 1's. john
