Sometimes you don't know how prepared mentally these young pitchers are. A few years ago the Cards destroyed Rick Ankiel after him putting in the playoffs.

Cla Meredith was supposed to be the answer until Tito threw him into the pressure cooker and he got fried.

Lopez hardly impressed by walking the first lefty he faced. However he did get the suddenly dangerous Kubel to ground out. I'm not a big fan of the submarine pitchers. It seems Theo likes them, although if they're so effective, why are so few guys throwing sidearm?

I wrote this in a game thread over the weekend, but it's worth repeating. There is usually one situation in every game when a lefty reliever will help a team. I don't understand how they could let Myers go with no other lefty option. I doubt DiNardo is the answer, but I would have rather seen him face Kubel. Somewhere, they've got to find a lefthanded reliever. I spell relief L-E-F-T-Y.
