we werent talking about replacing lowe, we were talking about who would replace millar if we got rid of him.
-
the answer is clear, look in the "olerud released" section... *hint hint* *nudge nudge*
-
hey, thats actually a really good point i didnt think of. a change of scenery for olerud may help him, but u never know, we can try him out a few games, and he may sign for little so he can just play the game. it would be great if we had mccarty and olerud at 1B with ortiz DHing, and not millar in sight. that would really pick up on the defense at first base, and theres one of many problems solved. at least thats one problem solved and less problems to be solved.

really? tampa bay, thats pretty close to us...the truth is though, that guy was an *******, even if the comments were against NY.

i dont see islanders?

this isnt really a rumor, but for some reason when i read this stuff, dont ask me why, must have been the mets because this guy said soemthing about NY, i thought about john rocker. dont ask y, because i dont know y, and ive been thinking...what happened to him?

thats true also, we have too many problems in this club this year to hope to win it all. i have faith and surprises do happen in baseball, but we need the holes in the boat patched up before we sink. this poll proves when u look at it that there are way too many problems, and only picking one is a genius idea, because it proves how frustrating things are gunna be this season, as u can only handle one problem at a time. good job on this section and subject, ELS.

im sorry, but i dont think firing francona, although would be nice, is going to solve our problems. francona could use some help from say theo and some others in the clubhouse. whenever a bad decision is made, all the blame goes to francona, which most of it should be directed, but not all of it. i agree with sarasox in the fact that wallace should be fired too. if it was only francona i would not want to see another williams/kerrigan deal here, with wallace becoming the manager. i think we need a starting pitcher, as it is the problem we have faced all year. we have gotten the hitting down, and although i do agree with sarasox again with the fact that we cant piggy back the rest of the season on RJ, should we get him, which i do agree with ELS, we probably wont. i wouldnt be surprised if i didnt see him leave arizona. but should we get RJ, theres no saying that it wont HELP. it WILL help, and having RJ pitch behind curt/pedro or maybe right after wake with the pitching speed change, it definitely would help. who says by firing tony well find someone better? we dont know that someone coming to boston and just taking over the depth of our team and being a manager would help, but we are insured that by having RJ, it helps, or maybe not RJ, but a top-notch starter, that would help and we can be sure of it. we arent sure that if we fire terry, the possibilities of an even more crappy manager are good, but so are the possibilities of a good manager, but im just not willing to take the risk. i would not like to see wallace take over this team. i would give up on the sox the rest of this season all together if that happened. the way things are going lately, and if we can get on a better run like right before teh ASB, it would prove that terry was not the problem of this team, or if he was, it would prove that hes just learning and getting to be a better manager. we need a starter, we have the defense, if we bench that clown millar, and we have the offense and the 'pen, which we just need to make smarter choices with. starting is our weakness.

Garciaparra And Johnson Linked In Talks (ny Times)

yeah, this blows. i swear if randy ends up in pinstripes i will kill him, or maybe not but i will be very upset. from what schilling has said about them being friends i think somewhat benefits the sox, and i just hate steinbrenner, i hate him, i ahte him i hate him. he gets in the way every time just like his stomach gets in the way of him fitting through a doorway. -

it would be really cool if players actually read these forums. then they would know what we really think, aside from all the public media and all their biased opinions... -
The Official Terry Francona Thread
schillingouttheks replied to noonanberg's topic in Boston Red Sox Talk
i said it at the beginning of the year, i promise. i said i dont think francona knows what hes gotten himself into by coming to boston. here we want to win, we dont want to see what ur affection to the players is. there is a lot of pressure on the managers when we dont win, and there are a lot of comments about the managers that they may not like, well earth to terry, we say these for a reason and it wouldnt hurt to listen every once in awhile if ur doing poorly like u r. i mean, just reading some of the posts by some people like ELS especially, it sounds like he knows enough to take over the managers spot from terry, and i wouldnt be disappointed. he understands that the object is to win and who gives a f*** if the players get along or not. if they are doing well thats all that matters. teach them how to get better, so u can win a freakin championship. goddamn it terry, U DONT KNOW WHAT U GOT URSELF INTO BY COMING HERE. -

els, once again i totally agree with u. with our starters against the yanks the only game we win is the wake game, who is usually amazing against the yanks, with the exception of that fateful pitch to boone which im not gunna even start on i was so pissed off. but u r right, who gives a s*** about whether or not they can coexist or if they have chemistry, if they win games, thats all. i think the redsox have too much love for one another and thats all they focus on. dont get me wrong, i love the sox and it is good to have friendships on the team and i know they focus on winning, but with francona, it seems like every time he gives players days off or says i love these guys, hes setting up for not focusing on the task at hand here, just winning a goddamn championship. we pay the players to play the game. nothing else. our best players start every game unless they are hurt or have a family thing, bottom line. manny, should be playing. nixon, every game unless theres a lefty, in which case kapler plays. bench millar, im sick of his s***** plays. mccarty is the best defensive first baseman we have, and his offense isnt to shabby either, as he comes through when it counts. remember last year when he got that double off the monster to bring in the tying run? i forget who it was against tho but it clearly stands out in my mind. remember the walkoff HR against the mariners this year? i was at that game, and all i remember hearing all along was "just start mccarty, just start mccarty..." because he comes through when it counts. tito, u need some help. the only position i can see him messing around with is second base. pokey and bellhorn are both fair players, but not good enough to be starting every game. i can see them switching off every now and then. -
Garciaparra And Johnson Linked In Talks (ny Times)
schillingouttheks replied to ACL BoSox's topic in Boston Red Sox Talk
responding to above, as much as we would like to listen to espn, they are based out of bristol, CT, YANKEE country. they dont think the red sox have a chance because they are yankees and have said it before and they have been wrong about many things, before u go jumping all over me about this, i do agree somewhat with espn, and to prove it look at my comments below. and RJ has SAID that hes interested in these teams, not there have not been any REPORTS about this, but reports in response to what he said. i go by whatever comes out of the players mouths, not what reporters like to say. okay people, as much as we would love RJ here, there are many other teams RJ said he is interested in: REDSOX: PLEASE GOD YANKEES: arizona has reportedly said that the NYY dont have the prospects that they are looking for, so thats a good thing for us...but i dont get whats keeping them from a 3 way deal like us...thank god theyre not doing that tho ANGELS: a possible bluff, but after the disappointing performances by their pitchers, especially colon, they would be willing to pay his contract. CARDINALS: they need pitchers, they have batters. although espn sportscenter reports that they do not have enough money to sign him. CUBS: interested, would be willing to pay for RJ if they are willing to pay for nomar now, but wouldnt get both. i tihnk the cubs are only being talked about because they are willing to give prospects to arizona for the redsox because they want nomar at SS, the position they are weak at. WHITESOX: i doubt this will happen though. its more like the whitesox interested in him than RJ interested in the white sox. THE DBACKS!!!: truthfully, i wouldnt be surprised if he stays in the desert. he would like to play near home, and he only leaves arizona if they get benefited, which is a long shot considering hes RANDY JOHNSON. there are many possibilities for this guy, as much as i would love to and we all would, we just cant get our hopes up too high. and besides, i agree with everyone else, it wouldnt be so bad if we dont get him, as long as he doesnt end up in pinstripes, which the yankees dont have a prayer for. even though money speaks loud, they just dont have the prospects, steinbrenner can try anything he wants, but when it comes down to it, hes just goign to have to accept that for once, he just doesnt have the talent (HAHA LMAO AT U) that the d'backs are looking for. -

acl, its a 4-game series, if schill and pedro get 2 wins for us and we split the series it would be great, but i dont have faith in arroyo going the last game against the angels but i dont have faith in him going up against the yanks, i say we have arroyo pitch the last game and have wake, who is usually superb against the yanks go up for the first game wit the yanks. -

i dont know why pedro speaks. anyone remember at the beginning of the year he said he wanted out of boston at the end of the season and then he SUCKED? well hopefully pedro wont have another ugly anaheim outing and wont get owned by vlad. manny should be starting in LF if he played the ASG, remember he played the ASG tito??? trot is in RF thank god damon, im sorry ur hit streak ended, ur still a beast 3B better be mueller, no f***ing bellhorn, if hes in put him at second because that should be where the feud is, pokey vs bellhorn nomar STAYS IN. I AM SICK OF TITO GOING WITH THIS GIVING GUYS DAYS OFF. WE PAY THEM TO PLAY. THATS WHY WE DONT PLAY ON MONDAYS MOSTLY. to get a day off. 2B i wont be upset, pokey or bellhorn. 1B-I WANT MCCARTY THERE, NO f***ING MILLAR PLAYING, HE CAN PLAY BENCH WARMER AND SHAVE HIS HEAD IN THE DUGOUT. DH-ORTIZZLE. THIS IS WHAT THE LINEUP SHOULD LOOK LIKE!!!!! MILLAR NEEDS TO BE BENCHED! THE ONLY PERSON OFF THE BENCH I LIKE IS KAPLER, BECAUSE HES A GOOD PLAYER, AND ALL AROUND SOLID. look for a mediocre performance from pedro, as now he needs to live up and think about what he told to the media about being happy. he should just shut his mouth and play the damn game, as the media is the most annoying thing ever. GO SOX -

lowe stats for tonight (dont know the pitch count): 3 ERs on 9 hits, in 4.2 innings. does this look like usual lowe outings? i didnt think so. for someone trying to make a comeback into his season this isnt too shabby, especially because he should have been out of that inning when millar f***ed up that fly ball...i hate that guy. manny get better soon...ur webgem-ness in LF is missed. -
i agree, does anyone really care about olerud? im happy with mccarty and the seldom ortiz at first base. the sox would make millar a pure starter at first base before olerud was signed. im gunna say it now. I DONT CARE ABOUT OLERUD.
