  1. Well, Tejada won it all....even broke a few records. Surprised me
  2. Man, Tejada wins and none of us voted for him. makes us all look bad
  3. Foulke has been troublesome lately, that's true. BUT, we've got to have faith that it's just a "slump," because he's our closer, like it or not. Can't wait for Willy to come back! I agree with most of the other stuff you said, trot4mvp...but I don't think that Foulke "can't get much worse"
  4. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...r2004&fext=.jsp http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/allstar04/ne...tory?id=1838530 Randy said he'd waive his no-trade to go to a contender. Theo, get on it
  5. I heard he's goin on the DL though, so it can't be too minor
  6. Now Ortiz, that's quite the exaggeration. Cesar Crespo, despite popular belief, IS NOT the worst baseball player alive. He's better than me, better than....well.... Keep in mind also that Womack is playing over his head this year...he's not a .300 hitter (hitting something like .270 for the regular season). Sara, why you gotta be so hard on Bellhorn anyway?
  7. It's true. Francona can't be blamed for this loss...the players simply didn't execute when they needed to!
  8. Only a true crazy person would contemplate such a conversion! The Tigres may look bad NOW....but they'll eventually turn things around...
  9. Should the Sox be seriously concerned with Foulke's recent troubles? Could this be a sign of the American League figuring him out? I certainly hope not, because Francona will be putting him out there every close game in the second half.
  10. Red Sox fans: We've got to have faith in a 'Tek turnaround....The team needs his bat to be like last year! Although don't be too surprised if he leaves after this year
  11. You've got to imagine that Theo and company had begun to lose a little patience with Terry too. Remember, managers tend to take the fall first for teams playing below expectations.... I personally was glad to see Francona take more chances...
  12. Ortiz is a monster. But just because people hit a lot of regular season HR...doesn't mean HR Derby success.... Guys like Bret Boone, Chipper Jones...Have choked in previous years... One thing to keep in mind will be Ortiz' longevity. I remember a couple years back McGwire hit 15 HR in the first round then got shut out.
  13. Nomah, That's the speculation (that Lowe would instantly turn it around under Kerrigan)... Not sure why the Red Sox would swap Lowe for Millwood when Millwood has also struggled since leaving Atlanta.
  14. I read a report saying Arizona would want TOP prospects for Johnson, meaning: Alvarez, Shoppach, AND Youk. Seems like a lot to give up.... Also he wants an extension (2 years after 2005) so he can try to win 300.
  15. RE: Womack Yes, I was excited when the Red Sox picked up Tony Womack. "A guy who can steal bases," I thought. Well, now I realize that Tony Womack would not have stolen bases in a Red Sox uniform. Why? The team doesn't run. Plus, if Womack were here, he WOULDN'T be playing every day, and wouldn't be putting up the same numbers as in St Louis. SO, don't be too hard on the Sox for ditching Womack. Crespo DID have an impressive spring.... Keep in mind that Pokey, Damon, even Nomar could be stealing bases if given the chance.
  16. Nomah, Manny has stated he would not like to participate in the derby because it messes up his swing. Otherwise he'd be in there...
  17. Latest Buzz on Clemens: No Way! Astros say they aren't moving him (no surprise here) Latest Buzz on Johnson: Curt Schilling's wife sitting next to Randy's wife at the All-Star game? Could the Randy Johnson/Curt Schilling relationship be enough to convince Randy to come to Boston?
  18. I find it interesting and refreshing that the Sox have done more running and hit and runs of late. Could Francona be changing his strategy?
  19. I voted "undecided" because the All Star game is so unpredictable. I mean Gagne, one of the best closers in the game today, blows a save against a rookie (granted, a very good one). If I were a betting man (and in my younger days, I was) I'd put my money on the NL because they simply have more talent.....
  20. I listened to the game on the radio (like all games) so I can't comment on the final pitch....but the thing you tell players from little league on up is PROTECT THE PLATE with 2 strikes. If it's close enough to be called a strike, you best be hacking at it. Belly....I'm dissapointed. I consider 5 of 6 against wild card contenders to be a success. So the yankmees swept Tamba Bay....big accomplishment...
  21. Guys, Calm down on Pokey. He got picked off last night because he was going to run, and was cheating a bit. The Rangers caught him fair and square. This is Pokey. When we got him, we knew what he brought to the table, and he has delivered as advertised. Great defense, not-so-great offense. He's a valuable asset to have (good D from SS and 2B) and SHOULD NOT be sent to AAA or traded. Maybe kept on the bench though as a defensive upgrade in late innings.
  22. I agree. Foulke has ALWAYS concerned me since he seems so hittable. Is he the only closer in baseball who's best pitch is the changup (besides Trevor Hoffman, who has other pitches too)
  23. I seriously doubt the Red Sox are gunna part with Shoppach. If they were willing to, I think they would have in the deal for either Beltran or Garcia.
  24. Nomah, If Roger was going to go to the place that would offer the most money....he'd be back in New York as a Yankee... He went to Houston to be with his family, and I seriously doubt he'd leave that opportunity. He already has a ring....
