  1. Spikes definitely didn't look slow. Not sure if you watched the game last Thursday, but he was pretty much involved in every run play, and was more often than not the first one to react off the snap.
  2. I wish I was going into my sr. year of high school and not college. I'm not ready for the real world (pretty sure it's not ready for me either, but that's moot). If I could live the 5 year span of senior year of HS through college over again, I absolutely would, multiple times.
  3. I remember 6 years ago when I joined this site when it first started and I was f***ing 15 years old.
  4. Nice to see Neal bounce back with a huge crack block on Mike Peterson after getting a hold earlier in the drive.
  5. 3 plays, 2 receptions and a first down This man did not miss a f***ing beat.
  6. Neither do I, I didn't want him anywhere near a preseason game. But signs are pointing to him maybe playing tonight. I thought it was worthy news to throw into the fire.
  7. Word is Welker is on the field in full uniform warming up with the team. From someone who has had 2 ACL surgeries and recovering from the second one currently, I don't care how much better his care is than mine, to get back on the field and play in an NFL Football game, regardless of if it's preseason or not, is a f***ing miracle. This guy is an inspiration to me, I might get all teary-eyed if he sees the field tonight.
  8. We've already dealt with them with Welker and Brady (knock on wood..........). I hate to say it but I really think the Jets are the team to beat. Unless the Pats young guys on defense (Spikes, McCourty, Wilhite, Wheatley, McGowan, Meriweather, Brace, Guyton, etc, I'm looking directly at you) step up to another level, we're going to have a hard time stopping teams and we're going to have to rely on the offense again which hasn't worked so well the last few years. The biggest reason the loss of Warren hurts though, is his leadership and experience. The most experienced starter now on the defensive side of the ball is Wilfork (unless I'm missing something? Not counting Bodden, talking as a Patriot), which means A LOT of the leadership burden is going to be on Mayo and Meriweather, let's hope we'll be talking about those Mayo, Meriweather, and McCourty like we were of McGinest, Milloy, and Law.
  9. I wouldn't be upset if we went to 14 teams... I had to draft for a friend yesterday and it was a 10 team league and it was just boring. I was in a 14 team league last year, and it takes a s*** load of commitment just to be competive. The waiver wire is literally razor thin, there's no, oh s*** my guy is questionable let me go pickup another starter, it's, oh s*** my guy is questionable, he better play or I'm f***ed. I'd support 14 teams, but I'm not sure how much commitment and competitiveness everyone has to make something like that worthwhile.
  10. Not a fan of the Friday night draft, but if that's what we have to work with, it doesn't matter.
  11. Three weeks ago my dad told me he had 2 tickets 3 rows back from the dugout for this game, and that me and my brother could go since he needed to be in LA for work. One week ago today I had my right ACL reconstructed. I held out hope that I could still make it to the game tonight. Sunday I was still taking about 12 percocets per day to deal with the pain even though it was only becoming a nuisance now, not hurting. It was this point I told my brother to just bring someone else with my ticket. Yesterday I got my staples out, and my knee has felt terrific since. I could have made it to the game, and now I'm really angry that I'm not there.
  12. I find it hard to even consider that the face of the Yankees for the last decade plus could be playing somewhere else. You have to think that between his loyalty to the organization, and the organization's loyalty to him that they'd have to come to some kind of completely fair common ground, right?
  13. I don't do yahoo email, but got the PM.. And I'm feeling much better. They took my staples out today (12 in all) so it feels a bunch better, hopefully I'll be sleeping better. One thing the surgeon did was instead of using my old scar from my first ACL surgery they just like...added onto it, so now I have a scar going from right under my knee cap down about 10 inches... it's so badass. Edit: Went to go put in the info and a thing popped up that said renew registration for Talksox 2009..didnt have to put in a PW or anything. That's a pretty cool feature.
  14. I'll play...I had a rough year last year after a 2008 where I dominated if I remember right. Looking to get back to prime form.
  15. I used the "I'm having reconstructive knee surgery tomorrow, so I'm not going to work today" excuse so I could watch this game.
  16. I was obviously exaggerating, but I'm pretty sure you get the point that he's not a very good defender any more. He's lost more than a step and just cannot be the on ball defender he used to be even if he's inserted onto the Celtics. Would he come here and buy into the system? Who the hell wouldn't, but with his age and baggage he wouldn't do much good. Remember when everyone was complaing about lazy Sheed? That's what'd happen if Hughes was brought in here. You couple his age with his deteriorating physical attributes and his below average offensive game, he's not really a guy you want to see on the team.
  17. West went from crazy with the Celtics to a nutjob who really needs multiple psychiatrists when he was with the Cavaliers. He also doesn't have the size to play where we'd need him to play, or guard the guys we'd need him to guard. Hughes hasn't played defense once in his career, and at his age isn't about to have a rebirth. JR Giddens is probably the only free agent out there with the skill set we need who will sign a contract for something we can afford. Ideally we'd sign Roger Mason Jr and he'd fit that role perfectly, but he isn't a minimum type player. I'm fine with the Shaq signing, just a little confused as to why they'd consider going after a 6th big before they fill a huge need at the swing spot. We're going to be putting even more pressure on Marquis Daniels than we did last year, and we all saw how he responded to that.
  18. Biggest need? How about backup 2/3 guards who can defend. I'd take that over a 6th big any day of the week.
  19. I think the writing is on the wall. We hardly have enough cap room to sign Seguin, why would we bring back another underachieving forward?
  20. I'm not surprised Ray is back. He's a very loyal and stand up guy. Regardless if Ray is the player he used to be he's more than welcome here in Boston.
  21. If you're coming from I-93, my advice would be to take I-93 south all the way into Revere (I want to say it's exit 28, but I'm not sure off the top of my head) right before the city, and park at Wellington station. You'll have to take the orange line into North Station, then switch to the green line into Kenmore, and it's about a 2-3 minute walk from there to get to Fenway. It's 5 bucks to park there in the "T" lot for the day, and there's really no traffic on your way out back to Vermont when you get back to the car. This is usually what I do when I go to Sox games (though I only have a 20 minute ride back home from the station ).
  22. I guess his health in the long run is what is most important, but he's going to be depended on a lot more to be the player he used to be than he was the last few years. Looking at O'Neal's numbers on games played, I'm not sure where you got your numbers. Since the 04-05 season, out of 574 possible games, he's played 344, meaning he's missed about 40% of his games in the last 7 years which is a really alarming number. I still think it's way too early to pass judgment on the O'Neal signing. He's a player who can probably contribute 14/7 the way this roster is constructed, that not only is a far cry from the numbers he put up in his prime, but it's also very wishful thinking for him to not only put up those numbers, but to play 70 games at his full effectiveness.
