  1. That doesn't make you an MVP. If Ortiz is suddenly elimated from the Red Sox, the Red Sox wouldn't suffer nearly as much as the Yankees did, if A-Rod was elimated. The Red Sox have a much better lineup. It's stacked with excellent hitters down the lineups, Olerud, and Petagine could do a servicable job for Ortiz if he was gone. If the Yankees lost A-Rod, they lose 41 HR's, and a good glove. Then you have to ask yourself the question, who replaces A-Rod? Escalona? Phillips? None of them are even close to the calibar of Petagine and Olerud, and that's not saying a whole lot. While Ortiz certainly is extremly valuble, it's hard to argue against A-Rod, who has better numbers, and is carrying a team offensively.
  2. Thanks, I believe I said "Low strikeout numbers" apparently English is something you fail to comprehend. Nice try, but the league has hit .261 off Mr. Wang.
  3. Actually they have, 11 times this year. Unless you somehow forget those games. Wang has low strikeout numbers, and for a team like a Devil Rays who love to swing the bats, they'll make a lot of contact, and their speed (Crawford, Lugo) can leg out infield singles. Cantu and Gomes can crush pitches that Wang leaves in the zone, which he does routinely. Prediction 8-5, Rays.
  4. Mark "Marquis De Sade" Hendrickson? He probably isn't going to replicate it, but the Yankees have Wang going tonight. He'll get bombed, I think the D-Rays can win this game.
  5. Bowden should be a good pitcher in the future. He won't be ready for another 4 years, but he'll be pretty good. Anyway, that scouting report is wrong. Bowden throws a fastball that will surpass 95 in the future, but it currently tops out around 92 mph. Check out his scouting video on MLB.com not one of them hits higher than 92. Bowden also fires a two seam fastball, that breaks over the plate against RH batters, and tails away from LH hitters. It's a similar pitch that Chan Ho Park throws (one of his better two seamers) He throws a curve, and a change as well.
  6. They should be better this year. Khaublin is a hell of a goalie.
  7. Great post, you totally stumped me with that one. I admit defeat. You are clearly the superior intellectual in this arguement.
  8. Yankee fan. Hmm, that's great deductive reasoning. You caught me. I'm also the Zodiac Killer, the real Kennedy killer, oh and I bribed William Howe not to attack Washington in New York. I don't kiss their asses. They make way better points then you do. Just because I don't agree or I could simply care less about how Jason Giambi made his comeback? I like to look at the whole issue, then make a decision. If a Yankee player made a good play, then he made a good play, I'm not going to say OMG A YANKEE EWW! Something you love to do.
  9. Apparently detecting sarcasm is something you have no clue on doing. Maybe you lack critical thinking skills as well too. 1. Hansen has made one stint back with the team. Rotoworld, a much better source then what ever you heard said that it is unlikely for Hansen to come up this year. I hope he does, but if he doesn't it won't bother me. 2. Hansen is not currently with the Big League club. I was simply making fun of Francona bashers.
  10. Down 9-3, why on earth would you send Olerud to pinch hit? Then again, you and several other people whine about everything Terry Francona does. It's as if you base your life on what the Red Sox do. WAAAHHH WAHHAA!! OH NO! FRANCOMA THE TERRIBLE BLO. OMG, WAHHH. HE DIDN'T CALL UP HANSEN, IT'S HIS FAULT HE'S HURT! Last time I checked he won us a World Championship, give him some amensty and shut the f*** up.
  11. If you suffer mentally from blowing a game, then you got to wonder if he'd have the balls to pitch in Boston anyway.
  12. Take a closer look at Downs' numbers. He could be a really good pitcher is he puts up the same K/9 and Opp. Avg against him, in 2006.
  13. You're making yourself look like a dumbass. He said if an all A-Rod team was played an all Ortiz team, then the all A-Rod team would win. He's saying that defense is a major part of the game, and he's correct.
  14. David Ortiz is a clutch hitter, no doubt about it. But, right now A-Rod leads him in average, and HR's, he's statsically better, and that's half of what people vote on. If the Yankees don't make the playoffs, then A-Rod doesn't win MVP. It's that simple. Playoff Berth- MVP No Playoff Berth- No MVP
  15. Please, anyone who says defense isn't big, never watched the 2004 Red Sox. What did Orlando Caberra, Doug Mientcawitz, and Dave Roberts have that Nomar didn't? They all could play good defense. If you take away A-Rod from the Yankees and give them back Soriano, their probably 10 to 15 games worse than what they are right now. A-Rod is a better hitter, plain and simple. If you took away Ortiz it's probably not as bad. Maybe 10-12 games, that's because the Red Sox offense is amply better than the Yankees offense.
  16. A-Rod wins it IF they make the playoffs. It's quite simply really on why he does. 1. Manny and Ortiz split the vote. Manny gets 30-50% of the votes Ortiz would have got, had the two not of played together. 2. Statsically, A-Rod is better, and if his team makes the playoffs, shouldn't he win it? I mean, he did win it over Manny Ramirez in '03 when he was with the Rangers.
  17. Who cares period? You don't play the game, and unless he somehow cheated you, why the do you care?
  18. It's not dead, but it is diminished to a point.
  19. Who is that in you're avatar? I've never seen, or maybe I have, that player. As for Burnett, I'd take Papelbon at 300 thousand, rather than Burnett at 12 million.
  20. With what? I couldn't even read that.
  21. Good points, except it was illegal, which is why it bothers some people. It didn't bother me, because it's just a game. It's supposed to be fun, if they lose, grieve for a minute, and move on.
  22. I don't think A-Rod is an ******* for slapping the ball out of Arroyo's glove, it doesn't even bother me. Oh and one more thing. Who cares if players take steriods? You're not the one playing, let baseball deal with it. If Giambi wants massive DD breast, and lose both his balls, that's his decisions. And for the players who don't do it, you'll have the pleasure of knowing that you won't be contacted by Barnum and Bailey's Freak Show 20 years from now. And if you let Giambi hit a homerun, chances are you made a bad pitch, or you just plain suck.
  23. Red Sox fans will call A-Rod an *******, for hitting .320 with 40 HR's. I'm confused however, on why the Yankees think Schilling is an *******. Sure, he speaks his mind, but so does A-Rod, Jeter, and even Rivera.
  24. Neither club's pitching is good. That's why no one will pull way ahead. The Yankees might creep up to 1 1/2 game back, but the pitching isn't good enough to start a long streak. In order for the Yankees to win the division, they need to hope the Red Sox go 10-10 the rest of the way, and somehow they go 15-5. Is it likely? Not really, but it could happen.
  25. They are barely fighting off the final nails. Chacon, Leiter, and Small aren't good pitchers. If they are the backbone of your staff, you've got to question your chances. The Yankees aren't the Red Sox. Don't compare the two. Last year's Red Sox, were much better, than this Yankee team in 2005. You are right that there is a lot of baseball to be played, but it's awfully hard to make up those many games, when you don't have a pitching staff to carry you into October. Oh, and Cleveland, and Boston are both better ballclubs.
