  1. Carl Pavano pulled after one inning down in Trenton. Could be a bicep related injury.
  2. I disagree, but to show I'm not biased, I doubt Clement will get his ERA under five. Chacon's K/BB ratio is 24/21, throw in his 1.68 WHIP, his 5 BB/9 ratio, his extreme fly-ball tendencies for a RH pitcher at Yankee Stadium (.73), and you have all the recipe for a below average pitcher. (that's a generous term) Chacon's track record shows that he hasn't had the greatest control (4.63 per 9 IP), and his WHIP (1.44) has always been high. I think that you have to except that Chacon is merely a stop-gap, better suited to the NL.
  3. The Mavericks are 34-7 in Dallas. I don't see the Spurs winning there.
  4. Chacon's WHIP of 1.73 won't get it done. Neither will Clement's of 1.64.
  5. Let me clear up some mistakes on this thread: If Pena were to get 500 AB's, at this pace he'd strike out 160 times. Alarming yes, but he'd be about 35 short of tying the record. Though a small sample, Pena is actually playing an above-average CF. He is at a +1 in the FRAA catagory (Fielding Runs Above Average) Pena has shown some marked improvement at the plate, as pointed out by Harold Reynolds. Reynolds states, that being traded to the Red Sox was probably the best thing that will ever happen to him. Already, Pena is showing that he can go the other way. The knock on Pena before was that he was too eager to pull everything. That hasn't been the case this year. Though he will blunder often, he's still a work in progress. He has however, showed that he can work on the things he needs to develop in order to be an elite hitter. Lastly, I do agree that being moved to AAA would help, but it's a moot point.
  6. Are you kidding me? No, f*** that. That was the dumbest thing, I've ever typed. Unfortunately, the dumbest thing I've ever typed would probably the best of one your posts. I can't believe you'd even think Seattle would be dumb enough to trade Ichiro.
  7. Bonds is thrown at three times during his AB by Russ Springer.
  8. No, you mean Pena with the "sac fly."
  9. His 1.50 WHIP wasn't going to allow him to keep his ERA that low all year.
  10. Nixon's OPS is .886. That's 53rd in the MLB, 25th in the AL, or 9th for AL outfielders. He may not be hitting them out, but why would you take away PA's from a guy who probably gives you the best AB's. Throw in his 19/11 K/BB ratio, his superior defense to Pena, and he's the better player. Next year, no doubt about it. Pena's our guy. But, as long as Nixon is playing like this, he deserves the playing time.
  11. Doubtful. Pujols hasn't hit below .300 in his professional career. Other than Bonds, he's probably the best hitter of the last 20 years.
  12. Cavs win 74-72. So much for the "guarantee" by Rasheed Wallace.
  13. He can take his time. That Pena guy seems to be doing OK.
  14. Jeter is on pace for 18 errors Rodriguez is on pace for 27.
  15. The Rangers better hope Millwood throws a no-hitter tonight.
  16. Josh Beckett went Randy Johnson on Jim Joyce's ass.
  17. Manny Ortez RULES!
  18. I think he was shocked that Lopez was batting that low in the lineup, but you can't be sure.
  19. Due to the extensive rainouts of the Red Sox/Rangers series, the Rangers will be able to start Kevin Millwood against Mike Mussina. The Yankees will be looking to halt their losing streak at one, while the Rangers will look to run it to two. The Rangers pulled a Ned Betty against the Yankees in Texas, as they were easily swept by the Yankees. 20. Law's going to sign with the Chiefs. The Chiefs need Law, and he wants to play for Edwards.
