They put Bonds on the cover, they hype the book up based on the fact that they have evidence on Barry Bonds using steriods. Hell, even SI wrote an article about Barry Bonds and the book. Yet, when I opened the book, I read about how Victor Conte called people NOOBS on an steriod internet forum. Bonds was supposed to be the main subject, he wasn't. That was disappointing.
BALCO has a very, very, very, small link to Barry Bonds. He's one chain in that link.
As for the book bothering me, not really. I really could care less what Bonds puts into his body, neither should Congress for that matter.
This year, Barry Bonds looked like a good teammate. I don't know if there were any blowups, but no one reported anything. (Which should be impossible to miss, because ESPN assigned a reporter)
Why exactly is it annoying? And really, you'd think the Red Sox players would be able to adjust to constant media attention. Look at the situation, now.
Barry Bonds took steriods when there was no rule against it. Most players say that up to 50% of baseball players use steriods. Why is Bonds the only one who gets blasted?
Look, love Barry Bonds or hate him, (I think he's a dick) but the guy can flat-out hit a baseball. With Bonds on this team, the Red Sox immediately become a playoff contender. A little fixing up with the bullpen, and this team is a World Series contender.
So, go ahead, try to convince yourselves that Wily Mo Pena will hit 40 HR's. I'll take the sure thing.
