  1. RJ throws 6 pitches and the inning is over. Way to make him work.
  2. Holy crap. I just woke up to bases loaded. Is this a nightmare?
  3. Me too. I have cable internet and today has been brutal. I thought my pc might have picked up a virus.
  4. It’s too bad that he never was able to put it together, but all I can say is good riddance. I thought signing him was a big waste of money and time and I’m glad the reclamation experiment is over.
  5. I want to see Hinske in the lineup in game 1 because of his numbers against Wang. If that's the case he could replace Breslow on the roster. After the game I think the Sox should either DFA Johnson or Seanez (no great loss to see either of them go) and activate Foulke. It seems to me moving the least valuable pitcher would make more sense overall, and I kind of got that was the Sox feeling too as they positioned Johnson to start game 1. Maybe he’ll develop some phantom injury and be disabled until September. Moving Kapler doesn’t really seem to be a sensible option.
  6. If the Sox do go 3-2 against the Yankees it means they gain one game in the standings overall. That would put the Sox .5 games behind the Yankees. There’s still way too much time left after that to draw any conclusions. Worst case scenario, the Sox get swept by the Yankees, putting them 6.5 games behind. That would still leave 38 games left to play and even that deficit isn’t insurmountable. My point: the series still isn’t the measuring stick for the Sox season. Despite the outcome there is still enough time left to make a run for the playoffs. I say that we wont know until at least a month from today which way it will all go. So everyone, please remain optimistic.
  7. For the record, reports are in the O’s have pulled Hawkins off the market. Unfortunately for the Sox their biggest need, pitching, is still left unfulfilled. It doesn’t make sense to me why the O’s would decide to do this, considering they are going nowhere.
  8. That’s the thing he can play the OF, 1B, and 3B. With this versatility and his LH bat he makes a suitable bench player that fills a lot of needs on the team right now.
  9. Early on with the emergence of Youk, Snow’s playing time was diminished and he was unhappy. He wanted to get moved or traded. When he was DFA’d it left a hole in the organizational depth that wasn’t filled with Choi’s lackluster year. Up until now there hasn’t been a legitimate call up from the minors to spell Youk.
  10. This wasn't intended to be some kind of big impact signing. He was released from the Yankees organization and only signed to a minor league contract. He probably won't even be called up until September.
  11. From this report it doesn’t look like the Sox will be as burdened to pay all of the money coming to him for 2007.
  12. As far as roster moves I’d say Foulke replaces Breslow for sure. To work Hinske on the roster it seems they have to move a pitcher. There are 13 now. I’d rather see them DFA Seanez or even option Snyder back to Pawtucket.
  13. I was thinking the same about Trot. Plus the Sox are sorely lacking in LH bats on the bench.
  14. It looks like the Sox have been able to add some lacking depth to the 1st base situation by signing Carlos Pena. And he's a LH bat. Talking about it now on NESN. From the Globe's Extra Bases Edit: Link from the Herald
  15. Paps being more like Paps again. Excellent.
  16. Big DP there. Nice pitch by Hansen.
  17. A walk and 2 hits. Time for some runs.
  18. Almost a full 7 out of Boomer tonight. Hansen coming in…fasten your seatbelts everybody. Edit: And Hansen gets out of the inning with one pitch.
  19. Coco with a clutch hit driving in 2 runs. Good to see his bat finally warming up.
  20. I can’t wait until we can see some evidence that his “pep talk” worked.
  21. Papi strikes again. :ortiz:
  22. If the remarks that Timlin made to the media have that kind of an effect on the team chemistry, then it was obviously much shakier than any of us were led to believe. Timlin, who has always made himself available to the media, ought to reconsider this in the future. What team needs one of their players airing their dirty laundry for public consumption? At first I thought the comments made last night came out of the heat of the moment of having just lost the game. After hearing him repeat the same sentiments today on the radio I realize how out of place this was, especially coming from someone who has been inconsistent at best since the ASB.
  23. A few remarks about Timlin's comment: 1. Clearly he was wrong about the pitching. Anyone with a pair of eyes and access to team stats can confirm the pitching has been suffering lately. 2. I saw the post game interview and the comment was made off the cuff, and probably he'd take it back if given the chance. It was made in the heat of the moment of just having lost a close game in which lack of offense was the main reason for the loss. 3. Timlin, to the best of my knowledge, doesn't have a history of throwing his teammates under the bus. 4. Thanks to the Boston media which feeds on this sort of thing, the comment has been blown out of proportion. 5. If I were a member of the Red Sox I would never ever address any member of the media.
  24. Rodney in to face Manny. Some more clutch hitting would be nice now.
  25. Papi does it again. Tied game.
