  1. a 6.02 ERA is not a few bad starts... Now, I'm willing to give him one more chance, against Seattle or Oakland, I forget who's first. If he fails again, he's gone. In my opinion, he's going to get traded anyway.
  2. let's go for the sweep Wakefield's knuckleball in a dome should be good enough to win.
  3. It's time to shave, May 21st, maybe the Sox will take this and go on a prolonged winning streak. I'm a little bit depressed, I was just watching "A rivalry renewed (2003 ALCS highlights)" so i'm a bit bummed.
  4. If Arroyo pitches like he did last outing, the Sox win. If he pitches like the normal Bronson Arroyo pitches, the sox will get killed. Plain and simple.
  5. time to package Lowe out of Boston. Sigh, had Lowe not started we probably would have won today... What can I say,one bad start is understandable, two bad starts, ok it happens, 3 bad starts, your skating on thin ice, four straight bad starts, YOUR FREAKING HORRIBLE. Damon + Lowe for Beltran, then shop around for a lefty starter later on with Kim. Teams will be looking for a young pitcher.
  6. Ortiz is an extra base hitter, I RARELY see him hit singles. He either strikes out or gets an XBH.
  7. Now these are the sox we've come to know. Manny, 2-run jack, 4-1 Sox. It's also worth mentioning Ortiz hit another double, I believe he is at 16 now, he is the AL leader.
  8. I don't agree with this at all, simply because I believe Damon was born to be a Red Sox. For heavens sake I still miss Hillenbrand, even though Mueller turned out to be the AL batting champ. Anyway for those of you who haven't heard this rumor, there are bits and pieces in the Boston Globe. I don't mind dropping Kim for some hitting, but I don't want to give up Damon, even if Beltran is the superior CF. The only thing I'd be happy about is that we'd get a player the Yankees are actively pursuing. We'll see how it goes. Here's the whole article. Full Story
  9. yeah RJ!!! Ok, now you know you want to play for the SOX!!!
  10. None the less, congrats to Randy Johnson. Now as long as he's not a Yankee by season's end, he's cool with me.
  11. Nice sox game so far. 7-1 bottom 7. As I predicted the Sox will resurge in this series. On a side note, Schilling's former Co-Ace Randy Johnson is pitching a perfect game through 7 innings down in Atlanta. It would be nice to see him pitch a perfect game... maybe the Sox will go after him. Think of that line up Johnson & Schilling + Pedro = unstoppable. Enough of my babel, it's just a dream.
  12. Heh, I've never started one of these threads before but what the hell, here's to good luck. Let's continue the dominance of the D-Rays and carry this out for the rest of the season!
  13. Well finally, an off day. While one part of me hates it, the other part of me knows the Sox will enjoy it and benefit from it. Playing 20 straight games is not easy, and only the Phillies know worse (21 in 21 last year). It's not easy and adding double headers into the mix only makes it worse. Now, before the sox went into this "semi" slump they had just gotten off sweeping the D-Rays. Now going in reverse, getting an off day and then playing the D-Rays should therefore swing momentum back in the sox favor. It seems the only teams the sox can beat up on this year are the D-Rays and the Yankees. What better way to get on a roll than to beat up on the D-Rays. Now, BH Kim is back, but still not ready for big league action. That's ok, we have a stellar five starter in Bronson Arroyo. Now, barring any unforeseen or tragic injuries these are five things to expect from the sox... #1 When Trot gets back the Sox will start hitting better #2 Bronson Arroyo will be the five starter for the remainder of the year and pitch competitively #3 Curt Schilling will become the Ace of this staff #4 Things will get better for Derek Lowe #5 The Sox will win the division by somewhere between 5-10 games and win 13 games against the Yankees this year.
  14. After last night, I don't really see much happening tonight. Since the 6 game sweeps of New York and Tampa, the sox have been pathetic... Swept by Texas (0-3) Split with Cleveland (2-2) Series win against KC (2-1) Series loss against Cleveland (1-2) KC is the worst team in the league, and Cleveland is pretty bad. Where did the Sox go wrong?
  15. Here are some great lefties: an * means that it's within reason that the sox could get him *Barry Zito Mark Mulder *Odalis Perez Randy Wolf Mark Redman Eric Milton Al Leiter *Randy Johnson Tom Glavine Personally, having Curt and the Big Unit together is appealing, but I think Perez is more realistic, and Zito is better.
  16. They gotta hold the tribe right here, and then make up 3 runs in the 8th and the 9th.
  17. Nice job Tek, solo jack. It should be 9-7 sox, because Millar got robbed on a call, but I won't complain, there might have been some outside help on that last HR.
  18. The Red Sox have been streaky this year, and can't seem to stay consistent with their gameplay. Do you attribute this to bad road trips, double headers, or is it just the way it is?
  19. Ouch 9-5. Pitching not the story of today's game. Well the sox have the 7th, 8th, and 9th inning to make up a 4 run deficit. Man we could really use Nomar and Trot right now.
  20. Okay, it's 7-5 Cleveland, but a win is definitely not out of reach. Neither team is playing well this evening, but Cleveland is just edging the Sox out. We need to really pull together here and stop giving up runs. First our bats were sleepy and now our defense is playing horrendously. What's with all the errors all the sudden? The errors have to stop, and the Sox need to win some baseball games. New York and Baltimore are right on their asses for the AL East. Bottom 6th Bases Empty 1 out Bellhorn (oh god) at bat.
  21. Kim has always been a bonafide relief pitcher for me. He never really fit in as a starter in ARI or BOS. I think Arroyo has the edge in the starting position, but Kim is an All-Star pitcher, he has been in the past, just not as a starter. Also, DB knocks in a run. It's 6-5 Cle, bottom 5, bases empty, 2 out.
  22. Time for BK to go back to AAA Let's get the bats rolling, were going to need them.
  23. It's been ugly for Kim thus far, but it's been even uglier for D'amico, he's out after 2.2 innings.
  24. Good job Dahbauc (sp?), tied 4-4. Man on 2nd, 1 out.
  25. This game is going exactly as one would expect. Not a good showing for either starting pitcher. Looks like it will come down to the bullpens if one team doesn't build a big enough lead on the other. BTW, it's Bottom 3rd, Men on 2nd & 3rd, 1 out. Good chance to tie the game up.
