  1. Umm... what makes you think the Yankees are going to go on a winning tear? Nothing suggests it. By the way, we both agree that neither one of them will be in the World Series this year. That distinction belongs to the BOLD PREDICTION: Twins and Padres.
  2. Do you know what OPS stands for? How about EQA? Lopez and Izturis are very close. The three that should be on the team are Lopez, Izturis and Eckstein. No one else is really in their league in the NL.
  3. The Yankees are not making the playoffs this season. You heard it here first. Another thing you heard here first: the American League Wild Card is coming out of the AL Central.
  4. Felipe Lopez has been better than both Izturis and Eckstein. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/batting?seasonType=2&type=reg&sort=OPS&minpa=0&split=0&season=2005&pos=ss&hand=a&league=nl&ageMin=17&ageMax=51&qual=false
  5. Soxie and BL, sorry, but that doesn't make any sense. Dustin is way ahead of Shopp in terms of prospect status. Plus, you can't judge someone on 6 AB's. Way too small of a sample size. As I've said before, I was a huge Bellhorn apologist in the past, but we have a superior option coming soon. Bellhorn's a nice player when he's hitting for some power as well, but when he's not hitting for extra bases, he's below average.
  6. Phillips was the Sox 11th round pick in the last draft and Smith was their 49th rounder from '03. Phillips is a big lefty from a small community college in Oklahoma. He's still in the organization, but I don't know where the Sox are going to put him. Probably for Lowell when their season starts. As you mentioned, Smith was a local kid down the Cape from Bourne High. He's no longer in the Sox organization because I don't think he ever signed being picked that late (probably because he already had a committment to a school), but I don't know where he went to college.
  7. Foulke will be fine. In '02, he had an ERA over 5 and a half on the 4th of July. He finished that year with a 2.90 ERA. Foulke isn't what worries me. What worries me is Embree and Tito's love for a compeltely incapable pitcher.
  8. Moss went 2-3 with 2 2B's and a BB. Since the rainouts: .484/.526/.879/1.405; 4 2B, 3 HR; 4/6 BB/K.
  9. I hope Johan stays a Twin forever. That franchise needs a player like that to retire in their uniform.
  10. Moss had a lot of trouble adjusting to AA pitching for a while, but he's figured it out and has been on fire his last few games. His line doesn't look very good at .268/.339/.431, but he's been crushing the ball since a six game rainout. He was hitting .220 before that stretch. Here's the game by game from May 27th to June 2: May 27th- 1-2, HR, BB May 28th- 0-3, BB May 29th (1st game)- 3-4, HR May 29th (2nd game)- 2-4, 2 K May 30th- 3-5, 2B, BB, K May 31st- 2-5, HR, K June 1- 2-3 June 2- 1-4, 2B, 2 K That's 14 for 30. The line: .467/.515/.833/1.348; 2 2B, 3 HR; 3/6 BB/K. I think he's figuring it out. EDIT- Bad math.
  11. We need to get rid of Embree. Trade him for a scrub 'spect or another middle reliever and promote Lenny DiNardo. Embree just has nothing right now.
  12. I think we need one more set-up man. We don't necessarily have to go outside of the organization for one, because you can catch lightning in a bottle with a lot of AAA arms who can be effective for stretches.
  13. John Older-dude. Definitely. I would like to see Youk get plenty of AB's over there, though. He's basically a right-handed version of Older-dude.
  14. I have a higher vertical leap than Bogut. White dudes can't play. It's a proven fact. Didn't you see that movie with Wesley Snipes and What's His Face?
  15. ... but only when Kentucky Fried f***head is in there. If it's Johnny O, I don't mind. By the way, to all you Millar apologists, check out the home/road splits for KFK since he joined the Sox. The only thing that guy can hit is the broad side of a barn. More specifically, the broad side of the Monster. If that thing wasn't 250 feet away for him to scrape some singles off of it, he would suck worse than he does now. For Christ's Sake, Kevin, GO WITH A PITCH! You don't have to pull low and away curveballs for easy tappers to the left side!
  16. I'd give it my all out there too. That doesn't mean I wouldn't suck. Look, Mark Bellhorn was arguably the most productive secondbaseman in the American League last season. That clearly won't be the case this year with the resurgence of Alfonso Soriano and the emergence of Brian Roberts. He's also clearly not hitting like he was last season. No one defended Bellhorn more than me last season and during the off-season. Hell, I was even a Bellhorn apologist. But, I will be very glad once Dustin Pedroia is ready to play an everyday secondbase for us and potentially lead off.
  17. Don't worry, Dustin Pedroia will be ready soon enough. Think Mark Loretta but shorter.
  18. At least Randy Johnson continues to suck. That team is not making the playoffs. I guarantee it.
  19. You're an idiot. Mirabelli always catches Wakefield. Since he's on the DL, Shoppach is on the big league club. He also far from sucks. Just because you're ignorant doesn't mean he isn't good.
  20. That was a two-seamer. Maddux perfected running that back in against lefties to freeze them. Awesome pitch.
  21. Eric Gagne's fastball Brad Lidge's slider Ben Sheets' curve Pedro Martinez's changeup Roger Clemens' splitter
  22. I would think it's Varitek because Shopp has limited exposure to knucklers. I think there's a pretty good chance you're going to get to see your favorite player tonight.
  23. Lou Piniella has forgotten how to manage. The way he handled the situation in question was pathetic. Not only that, but he's not getting the most out of his players either. Tampa Bay needs a new manager, GM and owner quickly.
  24. My boy Dub was dominant tonight. I told you guys he could be the best on our staff when healthy (except for Schill and a controlled Clement). He and Clement are just lights out right now. Hopefully, Bronson will get back on track as well.
