  1. If Dustin Pedroia is ready next season, he should be the 2B. If he's not ready, then Bellhorn should stay for one more year. Personally, I think he'll be ready and Bellhorn will be shown the door.
  2. Scouting Report on Hansen:
  3. That's what I was thinking we do. He signed a careerlong contract with us.
  4. Graves is horrible. This might even makes the Mets a worse team. He's going to get blasted in New York by both opponents' bats and the media.
  5. I really think the Wakefield will not have a place on this team next season. We're probably not going to need him and he hasn't really been performing. I love the guy and everything he's done for the organization and the city, but he's an average starter at bests that limits our ability to run out the catcher we want and is unpredictable every day. I'd much rather go with a traditional pitcher and let Wake go elsewhere.
  6. Wow, Ellsbury really does look exactly like a short-haired, younger version of Damon.
  7. To be honest, I'm not at all concerned with speed. It seems like an add-on or luxury that isn't really pivotal to a winning team.
  8. Egan has huge power potential if he can harness it. Even if he doesn't remain at catcher, he could have the bat to move. Big-time power potential, but very raw. Lowrie does seem to be very blocked as well.
  9. Manny's way more important than Damon is. Besides, if we move him to LF, where are we going to find his CF replacement? We're just going to be in the same position all over again. I would like to take Ryan Church off of the Nationals' hands. They seem committed to not playing him and he seems very committed to just hitting the crap out of the ball whenever he gets a chance to play.
  10. It's very doubtful he moves quickly enough, but he is very advanced. A lot of it depends on how much he plays for us this season. I'd give it a 5% chance that he's our CF next season. Just mentioning it as a possibility.
  11. I don't see Hanley starting for the Sox next season either. Why rush him? He needs the full season in Pawtucket next year. He hasn't exactly been destroying AA this season either; he's been good, but not great. I don't know what the solution is. I can't see Damon in another uniform from this point on, to be honest. I don't think he's going to be worth what we're going to give him, but that's never stopped us before.
  12. Sox took Jacoby Ellsbury at 23 (draws comparisons to Johnny Damon) and Craig Hansen at 26 (dominant closer that fell due to signability issues). Hansen should be a September call-up, assuming he signs. Ellsbury, if he signs quickly and gets some minor league time in this season, he could be looked at as Damon's replacement.
  13. Wake just didn't have it tonight. Hopefully, he'll be better in Chicago on Sunday.
  14. The M's are probably going to pick up Troy Tulowitzki. Basically, he's a more powerful, yet worse version of Bobby Crosby. His plate discipline is horrendous and the only raw tool he really has is power.
  15. I've changed my mind. I don't want Taylor Teagarden anymore. I want Matt Torra out of U Mass. He's a local kid, he's used to cold weather and he's got great stuff. Great stuff only gets better in warmer weather so he's probably better than what he's advertising because the weather was horrible when he was pitching. The Sox'll probably end up with one of the outfielders with leadoff skills, like Ellsbury. I hope Torra's available at 23, though.
  16. Stop the presses! Moss only went 1-4 with a BB today. Since the rainouts: .500/.569/.955/1.524; 5 2B's, 5 HR; 7/6 BB/K. He hasn't K'd in 4 games and has drawn a walk in all four.
  17. We had our three best arms out of the pen today in Timlin, Myers and Foulke. Good stuff.
  18. For whoever wanted Sauerbeck, do you remember how horrible he was? He walked everyone, made huge jams and was just as pathetic. What we really need to do is get Lenny DiNardo back up. That kid can pitch.
  19. Sign here if you believe that Alan Embree needs to go away in any way possible, including taking a dirt nap or sleeping with the fish.
  20. Moss' overall season line: .294/.369/.503/.872; 13 2B, 7 HR; 19/46 BB/K in 163 AB's.
  21. I hate Alan Embree. Pass it on.
  22. How do you spell fire? M-O-S-S. Moss' Game Two: 2-3, 2 HR, BB Since the rainouts: .525/.587/1.025/1.612; 5 2B's, 5 HR; 6/6 BB/K. His season average has gone from .220 to .294 in 11 games.
  23. Yeah, I think that was the best move the Duke made for us. Either that or signing Pedro. I'm still torn.
  24. f*** Embree. We should start a pitch-fork and torch mob to go after Embree like in Frankenstein.
  25. Portland's playing two today. Moss' first game: 3-4, 2B, BB. Since the rainouts: .514/.571/.892/1.463; 5 2B's, 3 HR; 5/6 BB/K. Dare I say, en fuego.
