  1. Sweet! Thanks again man.
  2. The penalty for them (since they've been over 3 times before) is 40% of what they exceed the threshold by. So in Red Sox terms, even if they go over the limit by 10 million, they'd only pay about 4 million in tax. They're willing to pick up 9 million on Lowell's contract, so I don't think paying a tax that "small" would really bother them.
  3. I'll tell you how the f***ing east coast is. It's f***ing terrible. It's too hot when it's hot and too cold when it's cold. It's too f***ing close to the ocean and everything from the west and central America sucks. That's how the f***ing east coast is, you *******.
  4. Zenny was AWESOME. He could break it down with anyone. I still want to know what happened to him since he wasn't banned, but something bad happened to him apparently.
  5. I always got the vibe that the Globe was the mouthpiece for the Sox (filtered from Larry Luchiano to Shank) and the Herald and Weei were in cahoots once the Globe reporters were banned from appearing on Weei. But yeah, I think since the Globe bought BDDs site, the site has sucked. It's almost like they are trying to act like the dick fans to make a point. When BDDs first popped up, it was one of the only decent sites devoted to the sox at the time. Then it got extremely popular and the Globe bought it. I always thought because of the partial ownership in the Sox, that the Globe wanted to control the content. BDD is now my last stop for sox news on any given day because there's really nothing special about it anymore, other than the random Manny link from the LA Times or picture of Arod and Jetes having a pillow fight. As for online content, I always hit the Globe because, to me, the writing is 10x better than the herald and I think the herald is on a word count, so the Globe's stories are always around 2 pages and the herald is just a tad over 1 page per story - Sports section anyway.
  6. That was actually a really fun game. I'd say the ending sucked because it lacked a sweet looking play like the one to tie, but it was fun to see the Fens all decked out. Doing Sweet Caroline was gay and there were a few times the broadcast was off timing wise, like the fly over and the Schill interview (why?). But overall, as a non NHL fan, that was fun as hell. I feel played a little, but it's all right by me! Oh yeah, I hope the fireworks are a new norm for walkoff wins. That was friggin awesome!
  7. if you stop being cheap asses and buy seats in FRONT of the poles there is no problem.
  8. Ugh. I really really really hate John Lackey. I just do. I think I just threw up in my mouth. 5 years? WTF???
  9. And this is true - they do not affect me since I live out of state. I can't even get NESN or the Sox in HD (or else I'd buy that package)... But I would also put money on the consecutive home sellout streak ending this year. I don't think they truly pulled it off last year and I think this year, unless there's a big trade, that they'll sell out all the home games.
  10. Doesn't seeing this photo and knowing they blew up old Yankee stadium make you feel good? I love the fact that Fenway still looks beautiful - even for a gay hockey game.
  11. I have to think that the only way you get rid of Lowell is by replacing him with Youk at third. I think the Sox are looking for VMart and MaxRam to cover catcher/first in a platoon type situation full time until VMart eventually takes over first full time and MaxRam becomes the full time catcher - provided of course he's not a bust... I still think they sox will go after more pitching for some reason. And hellz no, I don't want Beltre. He took one crazy postseason and turned it into a retirement fund.
  12. If so, doesn't it say more about you than them? I mean, they want to make money and you want to spend yours on them. What am I missing? It's not like you're investing in stock, you're rooting for your team. Nobody's forcing you to make a monitary investment in the Red Sox.
  13. I think Shaughnessy represents a large portion of Red Sox fans - and sports fans in general. All the blowhards who like to assign blame for something (another team's transaction, a loss, free agency) probably follow his every word. My folks are like this. There is no "Well it was a good game and they lost", it's more like "they lost. Who can I blame it on?". You're seeing it with the Sox and Patriots right now. I just don't understand the need to assign blame for everything - which is all that Shank does. Enjoy and watch the games because they are entertainment and nothing more. If sports/entertainment/politics gets you so pissed off when things don't go the exact way you want them to go, stop watching. And to those who bitch about the price of tickets, here's something you could do that could possibly catch the front office's eyes: Stop buying tickets.
  14. if this is true then yes, I believe talksox scooped the boston globe. Nice!
  15. I'm personally annoyed that friends of mine who live here in Atlanta think the Wagner deal sucks. The dude rocked for his time in Boston. I forget the one bad outing just like I forget the really really really bad Papelbon outing. Next year I'll be happy to have Paps and wish the sox had played Arroyo-like hardball with Wagner and picked up that option... you know, for the better of the team.
  16. Ahhh, one can dream, no? Mauer behind the plate, Martinez at first but backing up Mauer, Youk at third and backing up Martinez at first, and Lowell or Ortiz into the woodchipper. :papelbon:
  17. Ok then, as an American Leaguer, born and raised (I was born in 1973), as Commish I would allow the NL to allow the pitcher to continue to hit. But in the World Series, you're on your own. The DH will be part of the AL team and the NL can do what they want with the pitchers spot. All 7 games.
  18. Thank God. Of course he'll probably screw up the cba and have a work stoppage on his way out the door.
  19. Looks like s*** on my iPhone. There should be an app for this.
  20. My nomination as Post of the Year.
  21. I don't know if you're joking or not, but it would be kinda cool if this became sort of a TalkSports portal with Talksox as the main topic. I see the Red Sox banner as one of 4 or 5 tabs at the top of the page. Talk Sox, Talk Pats, Talk Celts, Talk Bruins and maybe a basic Talk Sports tab. For Yankee fans you could add a Talk Gay tab. It would become my one-stop sports portal for inane, durnken post/readings! I think I just peed myself a little.
