  1. Last Start: Zink's last start was on Saturday. He kept the Sea Dogs in the game, pitching out of jams in the third and fourth innings. He ended up allowing five hits and four runs over 5 2/3 innings, with two strikeouts and four walks. Not too great.. The Season: Zink drops to 1-7 in 17 starts. (could he be our next Bronson Arroyo?? ) Next Start Friday I believe. I sure hope he's learning something new in Portland (like how not to walk so many people), because the results right now ain't too pretty.
  2. Billy Mueller's looking pretty good if you ask me. He adds a lot to the lineup.
  3. Huh? Mirabelli's been doing that all year when he plays.
  4. BRING ON DA BELLY! GRAND SLAM BABY!
  5. You know what's especially frustrating? If the Sox hold on to the late lead and win in NY on Wednesday, if they hold the lead in extra innings on Thursday, and if they hold the lead Friday in extra innings in ATL - like they normally do - the sox would be only 3.5 games out of first place this morning.
  6. Not from meeeeee!!! Finally!!! Welcome brother.
  7. 13? Shouldn't your username be Boyjenson?
  8. Our payroll is going to go down anyway.
  9. Calm down folks. This team cannot compete against the Yankees payroll on a season basis. Look for the wildcard, this team CAN win that and it can also beat the Yankees in a 7 game series. Believe it or not, outside of the Ortiz error, I thought the sox played a crisp game. At least it was inspired and they played good enough to win. My call? Well thanks for asking... A win tomorrow and a sweep of the Braves. Still, this team is too flawed so just enjoy the games as they are, will ya?! BTW, I'm not a big Francona fan, but he didn't do too bad tonight if you ask me. The loss of Williamson hurt.
  10. Who is fighting? Just out of curiosity, JMD.... You say that the rbi stat is pretty much useless. What is the stat that makes all Red Sox fans think Bellhorn is the s***? I just can't find it.
  11. It wasn't directly related to you. It was more towards Yankshater who told me to shut up, and then you responded to my response to him. Make sense?
  12. This is true, thanks for the reminder. Just a little fast fact. In 274 at bats, Bellhorn has 44 rbis. In 114 at bats, Youk has 19. If youk had 274 at bats at this rate, he'd have 46 rbis right now. Do the math. Conversion is 2.4. Going to watch the game now folks.
  13. When did I say that? I never said that. I said Youk should bat second because....... oh christ, nevermind. I gotta stop posting here.
  14. That's right, Bellhorn is a god now. Killer single. Great arguement. Forget everything I just wrote. Actually, if you want to start a "what did bellhorn just do???" thread, I'd be happy to post on it.
  15. Weak arguement as Blowhorn has played a lot more games. How about these numbers?: Bellhorn with runners on is batting .276 Bellhorn with runners in scoring position .300 Youk with runners on is batting .360 Youk with runners in scoring position .345
  16. Oh, and Youk is batting 40pts higher too .
  17. You got that right! How many times did Blowhorn K last night in front of Ortiz? At least Youk has a similar OBP and doesn't K all the time. Everybody talks about OBP like they know what the hell they are talking about. How about the K - it is worth absolutely nothing. It's a big stinky black hole in the lineup and I'd rather have the K man at the bottom of the lineup. As far as OBP, Youk actually has a HIGHER OBP, Slugging Percentage and OPS than Blowhorn. Batting Nomar 8th? Now that is a nice move
  18. Hello vaman61. Welcome to the site. I'm originally from southern CT too but more to the eastern side so the Boston/NY fanbase was slightly leaning towards the Red Sox. I remember the TV 38 broadcasts were on Channel 6 on the tv when I started watching in '82. Talk about never forgetting your first team - my favorite player at the time (I was 9) was good ol' #11 - Dave Stapleton. I actually remember being all excited one night because Jean Stapleton was going to host the Muppet show and I thought it was Dave's mom! Ahh, those were the days. Welcome again to the site.
  19. How about we use this lineup? Damon - cf Youkilis - 3b Ortiz - dh Manny - left Nomar - ss Nixon - rf Varitek - c Reese - 2b Bellhorn - 1b Hitting Bellhorn last increases the chances of Damon coming up with runners on. Though I think McCarty is probably better defensively at 1b. Either way, I think Millar needs a day or two off. BTW, don't get so down on Nomar's defense. His throwing errors would not be errors with a good defensive firstbaseman.
  20. Yup. There is no small-ball in Beantown. Grady may have made a historical blunder AND sucked with the media, but he had baseball insticts (right or wrong). Francona is all stats. I knew this would happen all year. There is no way, under Tito's guidance that this team, even if it gets into the playoffs, will win it all. Period. If it somehow does, it will be entirely because of the players - not the manager. BTW, that's the same arguement that lost Grady his job. On a sidenote, the idea of Bellhorn at 1b has me interested - so long as he can catch the ball. But I have no faith. I know I will get yelled at for bandwagoning (I think... ) but I have said all along this team won't do it. Please quote me in Oct. and prove me wrong.. (but it ain't gonna happen with this particular team) The good news for all of you is that every time I post here on Talksox.com, my negative posts are dismantled by a great RS win, so here's to tomorrow. And cheers!
  21. The lineups BOSTON - NY Damon - Lofton Bellhorn - Jeter Ortiz - Sheffield Ramirez - Rodriguez Garciaparra - Matsui Nixon - Williams Varitek - Bignose Nochin Millar - Clark (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1831710) Reese - Cairo
  22. Last Start: Zink last started on Monday. He gave up only two hits over 6 2/3 innings, but he also walked six batters and three of them scored. Zink left the game with a 2-1 lead, the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh. Derin McMains tagged reliever Juan Perez for a three-run double down the right-field line. The Sea Dogs eventually lost the game 8-7 in 11 innings. The Season: Zink stands at 1-6 with a 5.40 ERA after 16 starts. Next Start: I think Saturday.
  23. So who will the Yanks go after Starter-wise? They will go after someone, but now who?
