Well, Trots out with a "grade 2 tear" of his quad. The two weeks seems quite unrealistic considering he's said it hurts more now than it has at any point this year.
There's still talk of bringing on Kent, and the focus of trade debate has shifted, it seems, from another pitcher or 1st baseman to a replacement right fielder.
I know we have an extra guy in the pen to help out with the bullpen being gassed (I think it's Malaska), but when the bullpen gets back on it's feet and Malaska (or Mendoza, or whoever) gets sent back down I think the Sox should consider this:
Bring up Daubach. Everyone seems to think he and Nixon are very close offensively. Dauber can play 1b, left and right reasonably well. It would allow the focus of trade talks to go back to pitching - which I think is more important than another bat.
Plus, Daubach's doing pretty good in Pawtucket. .296, 12hr, 51rbi, .427obp, .566slg. He should be up pretty soon considering all the suspensions coming down this week.
I say if he plays ok, the search for a Nixon replacement should be the least of the trade rumors. Anybody feel the same way?
