I liked Big Mac until the hearing. I knew he did the roids, but after the emotional opening statement, he basically acted like a prick. His responses were sarcastic and he offered absolutely nothing. It was like me in a meeting at work...
Sosa, who I have nothing against, came across as borderline retarded. He said whatever the rest of the panel said but in broken English.
Canseco - as much as I hate this ass - probably was the most honest in his opinions (not facts, but opinions). At least I agreed with some of what he said.
Palmeiro to me came across the best. He basically said numerous times that "whatever you want me to do, I'll do". I think he's gay by the way. He looks like a member of the Village People.:dunno: I was almost ready for him to break into "Macho Man" and pull out the cowboy hat.
Schilling disappointed me greatly. He turned into a tool for MLB. While it makes some sense he came out defending the Union, the agreement and even the owners, his admission that he was completely wrong with his previous statements about the percentage of players on steroids sounds absurd. He spoke of the 5-7% who tested positive in 2003 as fact, though later explained in a roundabout way that this percentage was what reopened the basic agreement. The number, of course, was probably much higher than that. And true to form, for every valid point he made, he made a stupid remark to nullify it or look like a dork that can't shut up.
Oh well, at least he made the point that the Red Sox were the "World Champion Boston Red Sox" right off the bat in his opening statement.
Something else that hit me: Selig comes across as a fool most of the time and Fehr comes across looking less like the dick I imagined.
The remarks from the spanish guy (from Baltimore or Florida?) near the end was probably the best statement by the panel. The fat chick from CA in the front had the best questions. The guy from Mass did a good job too.
I do not think that the players should be banned for past actions. They were allowed by both MLB and the union to do what they did. I really think that both Selig and Fehr should be fired instead. Why has nobody suggested this yet??? I think new leadership in baseball for both sides is the way to go.
